One of my favorite places to eat a good old fashion hamburger and fries. Atmosphere is pleasing and staff is friendly.

The best burger I've had hands-down in the country. From California, I normally do in and out because it's consistent. I've tried Tucker's which was my favorite meal in OKC until I came here. I had the onion burger theta with chili cheese fries. The burger had a delicious sauce on it almost like a creamy garlic. Chili hardy and savory. I wish I could take this place back to California. We got the Big Jack, but I honestly think the standard burger shines better on its own. -fries were very good as well. Thin and crispy -shakes reminded me of McDonald's. The homeless man sleeping in the booth next to me wasn't what turned me off really . Just Ok burgers . Their buns are good but not great for burgers . My bun was soggy before getting half way through it and turned into a mess. I like eating a burger like a burger and not using a fork. Onion rings were ok but the onion to batter ratio seemed off . Just tasted like seasoned flour not a lot of onion taste. Also not big on places that take your orders at the counter and then ask for tips at check out . We came here after we couldn't get a table at Bar Arbolada, and we drove around and saw this place. Tonight was actually for friends and family since they open next Wednesday. The place has that diner vibe. Great service. The burgers we got were okay. I had the deluxe cheeseburger, which was not the typical cheeseburger I was used to. It didn't taste like one; there was little cheese. The meat was bland. Instead of the onions adding sweetness to the burger, they added bitterness since they were mainly burnt. The fries were fantastic, though, lightly salted and not greasy. I wasn't pleased with what we ordered, so we got the 'Big Jack' to share. Went for lunch on opening week and was pleasantly surprised. As a group we had the steak nuggets, burgers, fried pickles, tater tots & fries. Everything was good & full of flavor. The owner came through to check on us and made his rounds of the restaurant. The personal attention provided added that little homey feeling. Maybe it was the time of day? I went after the lunch rush. My burger patty was thin, tasteless and falling apart. My bun was cold. The onion rings were awful. Fried in a flour slurry and the Sun Sauce to complement ($.75 charge) had a very chemical taste to it. As if maybe whatever it's mixed in had some cleaning residue in it. The space was casual and clean and cashier was nice. I was able to do a little computer work there (again, after lunch rush so it wasn't crowded), but there's no complementary wifi. The tip options started at 18% before you are even given your food. The gluten free bun option is $1.50 for a lettuce bun. Good, nothing special. I had the chili burger. It was above average but not a wow. If the chili is the same as on the coneys, they are probably really good. Wife had the steak nuggets and said they were good but over done. The onion rings...good but way too big. This is one of their featured sides, and I wish the were cut thinner. This is a gem in the heart of the city! The vibes alone!! It has the most laid back, cozy, classy country feel. We didn't feel rushed to eat and leave. First time at Sun Cattle. Parking is a bit weird because sign just to the west says Pay to Park. Tried to do that and message on kiosk said "vehicle not detected" so we parked and went inside, keeping an eye out for someone writing tickets. Interior of this place is cool in a vintage way with ranch art. Grabbed a menu from the rack and walked to the cashier to order. The cashier, well, was not interested in our question about parking, and told us to park along the street and returned to texting on her phone and scrolling. My companion and I stood there rather awkwardly until she looked up again. We ordered our food, the Big Jack and Hamburger steak, (sides are separate) fries and onion rings, two drinks for $36. That is a lot but for this kind of food but hey, the reviews had indicated it was pretty great. We took a seat and watched the cooks prepare our food. The burger and hamburger steak were served on this really cheap white paper plates that you often see at cookouts. My friend found the Big Jack okay, and he said it needed salt and was "nothing to write home about." My hamburger steak was just a couple of meat patties smashed together and so thin I think it only had one side. Not flavorful, bland, almost burnt, and really greasy. The shoestring fries, well, could have used some salt and pepper. Onion rings were individually breaded and very large but again, one of the cooks must have a personal prohibition against seasoning the food. We completed our meal. I picked up my paper plate and there was a big shimmering greasy spot where the plate had been. The takeaway: the parking is not great, don't expect a friendly hello or helpful information, don't expect the kind of onion burger that has made a small town west of OKC town famous. Overall, would not recommend unless you happen to live downtown and lack a vehicle. read more

We visited recently and did not understand the ordering concept for a few minutes, (no greeter or anyone to explain you go to counter to order) once we figured it out the register person was not helpful in explaining what they offered so we stumbled through ordering. Returned to counter when our number was called to pick up our food. Burgers and onion rings were good however they were served on paper plates, and our cocktails were in plastic cups. Prior to our visit to Sun Cattle, I reviewed the menu and read some customer reviews. Upon entering the restaurant I fell in love with the authentic OKC feel of the place. Decor included numerous heads on cattle on the walls and plenty of generous sized booths. Our party had mostly onion burgers while I had a chili cheese burger with a chili dog on the side. Been twice, as I usually like to go again before reviewing. Both times were enjoyable meals. The beer I had was the house brew and I liked it well enough. But the clear highlight is the burger. I wanted to try the chili or something else but I just couldn't. The Pattie's are smothered in heavily caramelized and righteously delicious. She had the steak nuggets which were pretty good as well as excellent onion rings and fries. I'm also a big fan of the atmosphere. It's a laid back and chill but can get pretty busy. For a gals night out we decided to try out sun cattle co because of the raving celebrity reviews and to see if this place was in the running to be a top tier burger joint in OKC. The food was okay. Unfortunately nothing remarkable about the taste, no zesty sauce or presentation...just a bun, patty, and pickles on the side. This greatly disappointed me. I asked if their signature sun sauce was included with the burgers - no, it's not. It's an additional 75 cents (which I absolutely paid for). The sun sauce is Big Mac sauce without any Worcestershire, so it was pretty bland. The service was just fine, employees were there doing their job and trying to have a good time while doing so. The overall ambiance of the place is cute country fast food aesthetic. You would absolutely NEVER imagine that the same folks who operate Luidivine and R&J Supper Club also operate this place (both of those restaurants are excellent dining experiences, food is amazing). That being said I hope someone reads this and decides to add some more creativity to this place. It is bland. Very beige. Everything was really good the only thing I would say is that the Fritos chili pie have sliced cheese instead of shredded.
