Parking cost $3 an hour, and you have to pay through an app on your phone. Definitely wear comfortable shoes, because it's a pretty long uphill walk to get inside the building. Once you're in line, you'll need to show ID and answer a few quick security questions (like if you have anything sharp or mace). You'll have to empty your pockets and remove belts and shoes, so maybe skip the holy socks that day! If you're bringing family or friends, make sure they line up in the correct line. If they stay with you too long, they'll be directed to the guests' line, which means they'll end up sitting in the very back of the courtroom. Also, keep phones silent and please don't bring small kids, the ceremony's special, and loud crying or distractions really take away from the moment.

When I called and spoke with Ebony she informed me that because I got my original library card during the pandemic they made an exception during that time to use just phone numbers. She informed me to come in and she would help me with my car AND my Libby account. I asked if it took long due to it being an hour before closing and not wanting to be an inconvenience and she assured me that it would be a quick process and she does not mind whatsoever. So I BOOKED IT. When I walked in I was amazed at how nice it was inside and went to the customer service desk and spoke with Ebony and she was so so so helpful and kind. She was not joking about it being a quick process. She helped me get a new library card since I've moved to the other side of town and needed a new library anyways! Took about 5 minutes total including her helping me with my Libby! So long story short, Ebony is the BEST, if you ever need anything look for her!

My company sponsors it, so I brought thank you gifts for donors. The Red Cross staff is kind and gracious. I didn't take any photos inside the blood drive for privacy reasons, but it was full of exceptional members of our community set on saving lives. Whenever I visit Centennial Hills Library I always check out the book store, and it never disappoints. I usually get children's books to donate to the Obodo library. This time the books were for me though. I have that Kamala Harris book "The Truths We Hold" in my Amazon cart right now. That's so fun. It would have cost me a lot more than the $1 I paid here. Plus, proceeds go back to the library, so win! As I walked around snapping pictures, the staff wanted me to tell you some things. The gentleman monitoring the resource room invites everyone to come in. He's ready with computers, homework help, and more. The ladies at the desk by the hydroponics said this is actually an adult ed class and you will create hydroponics to take home. They said to come out and take part. The cashier at the entrance to the media section offered that there are so many great titles to choose from in the book store. I couldn't agree more. She added that it's a good idea to stop by first when you're think of shopping for books. In all it was a lovely visit and a beautiful day at the blood drive.

SUMMER LIBRARY TIME IS HERE!…read more I like to go to the library sometimes it's nice to just chill inside there and check out what's new. The Summerlin library is always a great spot for that along with any of the libraries in town. Library cards are free where you can check out books, videos, and other items. It's free to use the computers, and nothing too pricey to use printers, copiers and fax machines. Plus, there are classes and workshops. You can check out the local library schedule online before you head out. I like that there is an amphitheater inside off to the side separate from the library area that hosts, different events and cultural shows throughout the year. These are all for nominal fees/admission. There is however, sometimes a downfall to coming to the library, especially in the summer because our friends who live on the street, also like to visit or camp in here to stay cool. Although the library welcomes everyone, this limits, what you can enjoy. Sometimes this can make the shared space feel uncomfortable because of drifting body odor and or unhealthy germs coming in and out. There's etiquette to going to public place of which I would think would be enforced here-- basically if you're not feeling well and or you are not in best health don't go. That should basically cover it to prevent viruses and unsanitary germs from surfacing. There was one incident where there was a safety issue as well where people go around looking for others purses or bags. So --I personally highly recommend holding onto your stuff. Honestly, I like this library but hesitate every time I go in because of this factor. There is a musty odor that you get right from your first step inside the entrance. I always like to think it's from the older books in there. But again it is really an older building as well and has a lot going on inside of it. The library staff is very nice and helpful if you need any help with anything, as well. If you have children, there's a wonderful children's wing. There are some really great programs there for reading and entertainment for early childhood to younger youth:) This library is located off of Inner Circle Drive in The Hills Community of Summerlin. A really nice older area of town... Across from the Albertsons shopping plaza, The Trails and there's a lot of different medical buildings in the area as well.

Do all you can in life to never have to go to this place. It is a pit of misery, darkness, and…read moreagony. Just get along with your spouse, your baby daddy, baby momma, girlfriend, or boyfriend. It is not worth it. Treat your kids right, and never have to go before a judge about something involving your most intimate family relationships. You can do better than that. The court itself is depressing. It is old and not renovated. It has an unfavorable smell in certain places. It is curiously built, with an indoor lobby followed by an outside vestibule, followed by a bad high school cafeteria style entry to the court, and a long line of people in purgatory waiting for a number to be called. A mysterious ghost machine will say the number after what seems like an interminable time. Sad and defeated looking people walk the halls. Lawyers are smug and mostly evil. You just don't want to go there. The judges are mostly good, but often overworked. They are not perfect and make mistakes. Whatever you do, don't be rude to the tellers. They've made it a crime to be rude to them. :) The parking lot fills up early. If you have a hearing, give yourself plenty of time. You will need to remove your shoes (unless you're a lawyer with a bar card), and go through a metal detector. Perfect start to a court that often makes families feel like they're chattel.

Not only did they fail to oppose the largest new tax on businesses in the state's history, but they actually lobbied and testified in favor of the largest tax increase in Nevada history. The tax plan put forth by the governor, supported by the Chamber, and eventually signed into law was identical to the margin tax proposal that we all worked so diligently to defeat on the ballot last year (except it exempts gaming, mining, and large law firms!) It is a slap in the face to now be hit with this tax after the voters rejected it 4 to 1! At first I thought it was admirable that the Chamber had hired the Tax Foundation to perform an objective analysis and show all the problems associated with Sandoval's tax proposal. But I find it repulsive that Chamber officials would become so eager to fire the Tax Foundation and distance themselves from any criticism of the tax just because the governor didn't like it. I believed it was the Chamber's job to fight against punitive business taxes and not to cower and bend over before elected officials... I was apparently wrong.

I recently learned that my kids' favorite librarian, Mr. Patrick at Aliante Library, resigned about…read morethree months ago--and it's truly been a big loss for our family. My 4- and 8-year-old still talk about him, and going to the library just isn't the same without seeing him there. My daughter practically grew up attending his Storytime. When she first started going, she was extremely shy and would cry if anyone approached her. Mr. Patrick noticed that right away and met her exactly where she was. Instead of overwhelming her, he would gently wave from a distance, give her space, and slowly build trust. Because of him, she became more comfortable and confident in that environment--and that means everything to me as a parent. With my son, he was just as incredible. He took the time to recommend books he knew he'd enjoy and would even walk with us to show him the "cool" chapter books. He didn't just do his job--he genuinely cared. He once said, "Kids can tell if adults are nice or not--they are wise," and he truly lived by that. It's such a shame to see someone like Mr. Patrick leave. People like him make a lasting impact on children and families, and those connections matter more than words can express. That said, we are very grateful for Ms. Jessica and Ms. Melissa. They continue to show kindness and dedication to the kids, and it's clear they are loved by the families who come back week after week. Librarians play such an important role--many of our children grow up with them, and they help shape their love for reading and learning. I truly hope our tax dollars are going toward supporting and properly compensating these amazing individuals who are making a real difference in our community.
