Tons of parking and so many activities for everyone, from little ones to teens, adults, and even seniors. The library itself is a great size, super clean, and filled with things to do in every corner. There's always something happening for all ages, and the staff in every department were friendly, welcoming, and helpful. I also appreciated that there's security on-site, which makes it feel very safe. They were serving food for the kids, and the bags were packed with healthy snacks, such a thoughtful touch! We joined in on the "WhoDunnit" mystery activity and actually guessed the right suspect. The kids were so excited to receive invisible ink pens as a surprise prize--such a fun idea! It was a blast walking around the library together searching for clues and spending that quality time as a family. Afterward, we noticed an arts and crafts table where the kids got to paint candle holders (Halloween themed or not). It was my two girls, and a few others and self with the instructor enjoying such a cozy, creative setup. I found out they do projects like this once a month, so I marked it on our calendar and grabbed the October events schedule. We'll definitely be back for more library days this month! Also side note I'll be making appointments for Passports my husband and kids need theirs done and what a great place to come to and get it done. Instead of dealing with the post office coming here seems like a way better option. Such a great place with amazing energy! I can't express how much the kids absolutely loved it, and so did I. The towering structure invites you to come in and read, study, take a class, use their computer lab, create a podcast or record your singing voice. This massive library is 41,000+ feet and is double the size of the previous library. State of the art in every aspect here and there are so many opportunities for learning. I explored every nook and cranny and was so amazed. I wish I lived a little closer so I could take advantage of all the technology here. They have invested so much into this space and I know it will benefit so many youth and adults too. I loved checking out the multimedia lab. Here I encountered a very friendly employee who encouraged me to go into each room to see what it offered and provided me with a class brochure. I am just a wee bit jealous that libraries near me do not offer or have what this library has. As I was leaving, I discovered the Historical African American Collection that featured many Las Vegas heroes. I was mesmerized by all there accomplishments and feats. Their monthly calendar has a listing of all upcoming events and classes offered. This is where community can come together to learn, create or just pull up a chair and read an interesting book.

So happy that this is finally open to the community. Northside definitely needs this library. Twice in the past few weeks, they have responded within minutes to assess, assist and transport my Dad to the hospital or had AMR transport. They have events for the residents which my folks and their neighbors enjoy attending: preparedness, open house etc. As my photo shows, they really went out of their way to landscape and fit in with the community, right on one of the golf course corners. About a week and a half ago, I brought them 5lbs of cookies and a dozen mini cannoli from Rocco's to thank them for taking such great care of my Dad. They were thankful and asked about his progress (at that time he was still hospitalized but improving) Today, I just buzzed by to say thanks for a moment. The response time is incredible, which can mean life or death in a retirement community. In both recent instances, they were at my folks' house within 5 minutes of Mom's 911 calls. Took me longer to drive the 8.5 miles there. It should also be noted that they showed caring for the dignity of my Dad and well-being of my Mom; and didn't look at me sideways 2 weeks or so ago when I showed up in Hello Kitty PJs. I sleep safer at night knowing that they are literally moments away ready to assist in times of need. Excellent addition to their community.

When I called and spoke with Ebony she informed me that because I got my original library card during the pandemic they made an exception during that time to use just phone numbers. She informed me to come in and she would help me with my car AND my Libby account. I asked if it took long due to it being an hour before closing and not wanting to be an inconvenience and she assured me that it would be a quick process and she does not mind whatsoever. So I BOOKED IT. When I walked in I was amazed at how nice it was inside and went to the customer service desk and spoke with Ebony and she was so so so helpful and kind. She was not joking about it being a quick process. She helped me get a new library card since I've moved to the other side of town and needed a new library anyways! Took about 5 minutes total including her helping me with my Libby! So long story short, Ebony is the BEST, if you ever need anything look for her!

I came for the blood drive and left with a book I've been wanting for only $1…read more The Centennial Hills Library holds a blood drive monthly. My company sponsors it, so I brought thank you gifts for donors. The Red Cross staff is kind and gracious. I didn't take any photos inside the blood drive for privacy reasons, but it was full of exceptional members of our community set on saving lives. Whenever I visit Centennial Hills Library I always check out the book store, and it never disappoints. I usually get children's books to donate to the Obodo library. This time the books were for me though. I have that Kamala Harris book "The Truths We Hold" in my Amazon cart right now. That's so fun. It would have cost me a lot more than the $1 I paid here. Plus, proceeds go back to the library, so win! As I walked around snapping pictures, the staff wanted me to tell you some things. The gentleman monitoring the resource room invites everyone to come in. He's ready with computers, homework help, and more. The ladies at the desk by the hydroponics said this is actually an adult ed class and you will create hydroponics to take home. They said to come out and take part. The cashier at the entrance to the media section offered that there are so many great titles to choose from in the book store. I couldn't agree more. She added that it's a good idea to stop by first when you're think of shopping for books. In all it was a lovely visit and a beautiful day at the blood drive.

This year also rained which was nice, and the Blue Man Group once again started the race off for us. This really is a family friendly event; I didn't know there were schools out there for little ones that does all that acrobatic stuff but they come out and perform as well. There's also many photo opportunities with actual Cirque performers and they also compete in the race. Definitely one of my favorite timed 5K events.

I recently learned that my kids' favorite librarian, Mr. Patrick at Aliante Library, resigned about…read morethree months ago--and it's truly been a big loss for our family. My 4- and 8-year-old still talk about him, and going to the library just isn't the same without seeing him there. My daughter practically grew up attending his Storytime. When she first started going, she was extremely shy and would cry if anyone approached her. Mr. Patrick noticed that right away and met her exactly where she was. Instead of overwhelming her, he would gently wave from a distance, give her space, and slowly build trust. Because of him, she became more comfortable and confident in that environment--and that means everything to me as a parent. With my son, he was just as incredible. He took the time to recommend books he knew he'd enjoy and would even walk with us to show him the "cool" chapter books. He didn't just do his job--he genuinely cared. He once said, "Kids can tell if adults are nice or not--they are wise," and he truly lived by that. It's such a shame to see someone like Mr. Patrick leave. People like him make a lasting impact on children and families, and those connections matter more than words can express. That said, we are very grateful for Ms. Jessica and Ms. Melissa. They continue to show kindness and dedication to the kids, and it's clear they are loved by the families who come back week after week. Librarians play such an important role--many of our children grow up with them, and they help shape their love for reading and learning. I truly hope our tax dollars are going toward supporting and properly compensating these amazing individuals who are making a real difference in our community.
