Stopped here w my wife. The grilled fish sandwich was cooked well and their tartar sauce is very good. Super casual spot right by the beach. Would def come back to try other menu items. The fish sandwich and fountain soda cost $16. The only thing I would have loved is just a tad larger piece of fish but I get it. The season is short here and things tend be a bit more expensive in vacation towns. As for service you go inside and order your food and they call out your # when ready. Pleasant staff (thank you John) -- great seafood tacos -- perfect texture to the soft taco itself and a nice fry on the seafood. The cabbage slaw and crema on top work perfectly for added layers of texture and flavor. The shrimp taco was my favorite. Junior devoured his dogs -- served on rectangular buns toasted in butter -- old school -- extra tasty. Reminds me of Nedicks -- the original (now defunct) toasted hot dog bun and orange drink palace in NYC from the 1950's. When I was a kid, every trip to Macy's on Herald Square in Manhattan meant a Nedicks hot dog and orange drink. Unlike Nedicks -- Sun Dog is right on the beach, so the views are magnificent and the ocean -- refreshing. Prices are reasonable and service is quick and pleasant. Worth a look if in the neighborhood -- even worth a detour from wherever you are ensconced in Wildwood -- if a tasty beach breakfast, lunch or brunch is what you crave. I am always skeptical about places that are connected to hotels, but this one has surpassed my negative views of establishments inside of hotels. Grab a seat outside on a picnic bench and enjoy the views. They have a table with various sauces to add onto any dish. The place is very clean and the service is quick. Make note you must go inside to order and pick up at a window. The sun pups are unique and full of flavor. we all have leftover mashed potatoes sometimes after a family dinner and sun dog knows exactly what to do with theirs. they turn mashed potatoes into little nuggets, perfect slightly toasted outside with a smooth mooshy center. i didnt even need the sour cream that it came with. these are sharable, but i would eat them all to myself. Everyone raves about the fish tacos and now i see why. 2 loaded soft shell tacos, with flakey haddock. the raddish and slaw might be a bit over-welming, but i ate both of these up. they are modestly priced too. As simple as they sound, the cheesy fries are a must get too. double fried fries, downed in a smooth cheddar sauce with some peppers thrown in there. messy, but worth it. would gladly be back and try more of their seafood options. read more

Nice spot on the ocean. Simple outdoor tables on a concrete slab. We arrived a little early before opening and we got lucky and got a parking spot reserved for Sun Dog customers only which there a very few of. We had our dog with us which is why we were looking for a dog friendly place with outdoor seating. We were one of the first guests in line that day which was nice. Super nice professional gentleman took our order and we didn't wait long for our food. We got fried shrimp tacos, fish and chips and a side of fried shrimp. This seafood was so fresh, cooked to perfection and the batter was probably some of the best I have ever tasted. So glad we found this place. We went here bc it was super close to our motel. Oh man what a good move. They have outdoor picnic seating which was great given the times. I was expecting deep fried frozen Sysco crap. Boy was I wrong. Everything is made fresh to order. Hence it takes a little while but hey that is a small price to pay. We actually went twice during our recent stay. We had chili cheese fries, hot dogs w toppings, the sun pups, a fried fish sandwich and fried shrimp. Man o man, everything was spot on. I love their sun dog sauce. Don't rule this place out on a gloomy day as they have a covered area to eat under, in addition it would also give you a welcome break from the sun. Locally sourced meat, fish and produce from some of my favorite places. Owners are incredibly nice people and very aware that many of us have food allergies. Celiac or gluten free no problem as they have amazing options. This gluten free Jersey Girl had the most amazing fried chicken fingers, fried Haddock tacos and french fries made is a designated frier. I have no words to express how amazing the food tasted. One of their specialties is slow cooked pulled pork. Flavors are so scrumptious. Gluten free options at regular eatery where you can enjoy eating with your gluten loving family. Very hard in this area to find such a great place. Exceptionally clean kitchen area and outside eating. The menu has a good variety of foods. Call your order in and it will be ready when you arrive. Reasonably priced meals that won't break the bank. Would definitely recommend to give Sun Dog on the Beach a try as it will become your favorite place in the Crest. There are a few beachfront places where I enjoy eating breakfast/lunch. It's really cool to sit there at 7 AM with a cup of coffee with breakfast on its way,seeing the sun just slightly over the water with the promise of a new beautiful day. Today I have found my new best favorite in Wildwood crest at Sundog. Sipping my iced tea waiting for my breakfast and I was pleased at how comfortable seating was here under the sun deck at the Madrid. Breakfast: My entrée arrived and I was in heaven. My breakfast burrito contained beautifully scrambled eggs, and perfectly chopped tomatoes and onions pico do Gallo and Surachi mayo. I choose the famous New Jersey Pork roll For my meat in the wrap. It was an incredible combination of flavors in a tightly wrapped tortilla. This is my new favorite breakfast in the Crest because you get your vegetables and your protein in one beautiful meal. The bacon looks so good so I had to order a side. It's probably the best bacon I've ever had in Wildwood Crest. It tasted like it was done in the oven so it was perfectly well done and not greasy. It was so good it deserved a yelp pic of its own! Ordering is a breeze. You order at the takeout window and they call your number and you return with your tray to one of the comfortable picnic tables overlooking the beach. The shrimp tacos are a must!! The light and crisp batter gives the sweet shrimp just a right amount of freshness!! The mango salsa creates a bright and enjoyable explosion at every bite!! The pulled pork was another excellent choice, slow roasted for 4 hours, on a super fresh brioche bun for an overall melt in your mouth experience! An absolute HIDDEN GEM! My family and I were leaving the Crest park baby water splash pad and I remembered Sun Dog was in the direction of our hotel. I saw they had great reviews and decided to give them a try. I AM SO GLAD WE DID! We ordered 3 hotdogs, 2 being chili cheese, fish taco's, a fried shrimp platter, a kid's grilled cheese platter, a taco salad, and 3 drinks. Everything was absolutely delicious! My only complaints are that the flatware was very cheap and flimsy, which made it extremely hard to eat the taco salad and cut something, the taco salad listed shredded lettuce and it was large chunks of romaine, and there were no free fountain soda refills. I wish they had a better location for their own sake so more people would know about this delicious spot! They are very hidden from the road and there is no signage. The only way one would know about them is if your staying in the attached motel upstairs or live on the street. read more

A little on the pricey side for some items (ended up leaving paying near $40 for 3 meals) but I will say that the portions are massive so it's definitely a great spot to share a meal or take home leftovers. I took my son and his friend here after a day on the beach for dinner and we all loved it. We tried the chili cheese dog, fries, burger, and fish tacos. The seating was also great because it's outdoor and there was plenty of room to social distance.
