I lived in the area about 4-5 years ago and this was my favourite place to go eat. Things have definitely changed though. Not sure if it's under new ownership now or what but the experience was awful. Just wanted to get some food to go and was filling my bowl with ingredients and the guy was watching me like a hawk. He then tried accusing me of pushing the food down into the bowl and said there would be an additional $10 charge if it needs a second container. I wasn't worried about that because I have gone there many times before and stacked my bowl much higher than it was. But then when he went to put the food in the container which already was 1/3 full of rice that I didn't even want he didn't even fill it up all the way and put the smallest amount in a second container and said I need to pay $10 for the second container of food. I was so in disbelief that all I wanted to do was get a refund and go somewhere else but I decided to just take the one initial container that wasn't even full that I paid $20 for and just leave. I did try to have a talk with the guy and explain that the container was not even full and that I never asked for rice but he started getting really aggressive and yelling. DO NOT EAT HERE!!! We were in the area and felt like stir fry and decided to try this place, We were told to follow there simple rules of no spilling no pushing the food in the bowl down. We have tried different places like this and have had way better service! This place was not the best place for portion size as I've been to other places and have left full. The Chef was rude as he had yelled at me for spilling a bell pepper! We will not be back! I do not recommend this place Other places have options for sides/ appetizers soup or rice. Been coming here for years. All of the other recent negative Google reviews are true. I did not squeeze the frozen meat but the cook accused me of this. Then he put half of my cooked order into the container with the rice (container was NOT full), and the other half in second container and said I have to pay $10 extra for 2nd container. I said no thanks and he started yelling at me. I just stared in disbelief. The restaurant was empty - no other customers. I'm surprised Fraser Health hasn't shut this place down for violating food safety rules. $20 for half a bowl of mediocre stir fry is not worth it. I usually like to support local mom and pop businesses but this guy clearly doesn't want returning customers. read more

We came here on a whim and we were helped along by the very friendly hostess which filled our bowls beyond the brim and combined the sauces to our taste for the stir fry. The food was delicious and they had lots of ingredients to choose from. The place was big and tidy. The price was not too bad for the amount of food. Will return. read more

Back when I lived in Port Coquitlam, this is where I would go for a healthy, cheap and filling lunch. The service is attentive and the set up of the restaurant is pretty straightforward. The servers will, nonetheless, go over the menu for the AYCE option with you and make sure you get the biggest bang for your buck depending on how much you want to eat. The cuts of the meat are also decent and they have a big variety of veggies, sauces, and different noodles too! The chef will take the plate with all the items that you pick and cook them right in front of the buffet station and the server brings it over to your table. For takeout, its similar except you take it home :') I really enjoyed eating many lunches here and I miss it dearly. This will be the first place I'll hit up once I visit Port Coquitlam again. read more

A great, quick, relatively cheap place for a dinner where you can control exactly what you want! This place has one of the better assortment of veggies for a Mongolian grille. Bamboo shoots, baby corn, and one or two other asian specialties plus a lot of the regular things like peppers and broccoli . The prices are really affordable. One large bowl is definitely big enough for me, even without stuffing the bowl full... and I have a pretty big appetite. For $16, you can go All You Can Eat, and try 2 or 3 different flavour combinations at your own size and pace. The best part about this place is the hilarity from watching some people try to absolutely PACK what they can into one medium sized bowl. They have strategies. Veg on the bottom, then sauce, then the soft noodles, then the meat, then the stiffer noodles creating a towering 24" high structure that they try to pass off as a single serving. We love places like this little hole-in-the-wall, great food, and homie atmosphere. 16$ AYCE! Customers can dine for an hour and a half and as much as they like. You can pick your favourite meat, veggies and sauce. Then the chef cooks your food in-front of you on a big hot plate. Food was so fresh and yummy! My husband and I are always looking to try something new and found this place using an IPhone app searching for nearby dining. What a find! Upon entering,my first observation was that it was a low-key kind of place with minimal thought for decor but what's there absolutely served it's purpose. Having never been there before, it was a bit confusing but we got the hang of it quickly. First, you can choose a small bowl ($6.50) or large ($7.50), and start loading it with your choice of uncooked meat(s) i.e. beef, lamb, pork, chicken and a selection of fresh veggies. The next station is sauce. There's a chart provided that clearly indicates the ingredients required to make a large selection of yummy sauces. I've posted a pic of the chart - Sounds a bit complicated but really, it isn't. You give the overflowing bowl to the cook (Yes! Overflowing! We were challenged by staff to fill it to the bowls to the max) and he cooks it for you on a large, flat grill and brings it to your table. Will you're choosing your ingredients, a small bowl of rice and a small bowl of miso-like soup (per person) magically appears on your table. The food is to die for! So, I mentioned prices above. There is an alternative where you can choose "all you can eat" for $11.50. My husband and I cannot eat another bite so we've never opted for the all you can eat. Bonus! No MSG added! Service is quick so perfect for lunch or for a go to place if facing time constraints. We've dropped in a few times since our initial visit and although quiet, there are always other patrons including people for take out. We've added this place to our favourites. read more

Food was okay.... for people who can't/don't want to cook - or are too lazy that day to do so (no judgement. I get it). It's a stir fry. That's it. Noodles. Rice. Meat. Assorted veg. Sauces. Nothing you can't make at home. Service was horrible. So understaffed/undertrained. The server legit looked like she was about to have a nervous breakdown when we ordered wine. It took 20 minutes. We tried to order more (even though it was old, boxed wine. It was ladies night. We were desperate). She said they were OUT. Yep. We finished their last 12 ounces of boxed wine. No service after we got our food. NONE. Even though we were the only table there. The experience was..... hilarious. But only because it was soooo bad. read more

It's even "fun" to make the food with the novel sauce system where you make a sauce out of 15 individual components (think sesame oil, peanut sauce, teriyaki, etc). I go here once a week. Love the pricing & the fact that they charge by the bowl, not the weight. Sometimes I wish they would be more on top of cleaning around the buffet food area, but I've been there enough to recognize it just depends on who's working. (That's why I gave 4 stars). First, I love the Mongolian style. The Monglie BBQ on Denman was a favorite for years when I was dating. It quickly removed the high maintenance from the pool of potential relationship candidates. POCO's King Mongolian is much the same. No flash no sparkle but good food with low additives (sauces are your only question mark) and lots of it. We've been several time and all you can eat dinner for two for under $25 with all fresh vegetables and as much meat as you can pile in the bowl is a great deal. Last visit made me a little nervous as the staff seemed the have neglected to observe any of their food safety standards. In particular hand washing!! After a quick comment this was fixed while we were there but it's something to watch for certain! As I said the is no glamour here but fresh do it yourself flavors and lots of food. I walked past here a month ago on my way to the bank and smelt this place when it was super busy and that's what attracted me and caught my eye. So finally me and my gf went today, and were so impressed! Service was good, very nice and she was helpful for our first time. The interior was plain but it was fine and Clean. The food was fabulous. Soo fresh and delicious!! And well priced! You pick your bowl size with lg at $9 I think, was $20 for 2 large bowls! And you fill it will you choice of fresh raw veg, noodle, &meat choice.And you can tower the bowl full, Like seriously over full!!! Then add sauces,They have sooo many to choose from with helpful recommendations! Then they stir fry it all up in front of you! I just loove me a fresh stir fry! And this is one of the best Iv had! .........I'm not sure where to begin! We wanted to try something different in the TriCities area. We've been to something similar at Whistler, the Mongolian Grill. King Mongolian Grill Restaurant is new kid on the block 'trying' to cash in on the Mongolian Grill's name and success! King Mongolian Grill Restaurant is right in the middle of downtown PoCo's Shaughnessy St. The restaurant is small, perhaps with a capacity of no more than 20 people in a cafeteria like ambience. It was very confusing when you walk in. Not sure if we were suppose to seat ourselves or wait to be seated. A hostess did finally appear out of the back and seated us. We were offered water or tea. Off to the 'all you can eat counter'......... You have a choice of beef, pork, chicken or lamb in the protein corner. Great assortment of veggies! Then off to the sauce area. Hmmmm... the sauces were very diluted with water with the ingredients settled onto the bottom. Regardless of how much sauce to put into your bowl, all the sauces are lost by the way the cook cooks the food. The food it tossed onto the round grill one bowl at a time. The cook uses a pair of long chopsticks to move the food clockwise around the grill. All the sauce drips off the edge with this process. My son loves sauce and I got him a bowl of chicken and put in approximately a half bowl of teriyaki sauce. When the chicken was served to us...............NO SAUCE! What happened to all the sauce! :-( You get all the rice, soup, spring rolls and shrimp chips you can eat with your meal. My daughter ate 2 spring rolls and her comments - '...where's the filling??!' The soup was disgusting looking.....greasy starchy vegetable soup. I didn't try it but my son was brave enough to. He found it very sour. Guess it's a sour vegetable soup. I counted 4 people working at the restaurant - cook, hostess and 2 others in the backroom. The food counter was very messy - ingredients mixed in with others, the tongs were dirty and the sauce spoons were disgusting. It would make a world of a difference if the staff spends a few minutes maintaining this area. At $11.95 per person, there is definitely better value some where else! There are many other choices in PoCo and Coquitlam areas. Our meal cost us $55 for a family of 4 - 2 adults and 2 teens. The big draw to King Mongolian Grill Restaurant is the $2.95 pitchers of beer! If this is your thing, perhaps this is the place to throw back a few pitchers! There were only 16 customers occupying 5 tables. The waitress/hostess was MIA until she brought out the rice, spring rolls and greasy sour vegetable soup. We saw the cook more than the waitress/hostess. I give HIGH marks to the cook. He brings the food to your table when it's cooked. This is undoubtly this is our first and last time to the King Mongolian Grill Restaurant! Next time when I get the desire for this, I'll drive up to Whistler for 'real' Mongolian Grill affair. read more

Food is quite decent here. Nothing too fancy but wholesome and fresh every time I have gone here to eat. The portions are a good size. I usually get the lunch special medium bowl. There's no point going for the large bowl unless you plan on fasting for the next 30 days!!! Huge portions. My only complaint is the décor of the restaurant. While I don't mind the Genghis Khan era wall mural, I just find the over all dinning experience to feel run-down and a little un-sanitary. They gotta get rid of that intense yellow-orange paint. Its has to be the most unpleasant color to look at while eating! The staff is very accommodating and the food is always fresh. The food choices are vast and are topped up whenever necessary. As a vegan I only have to inform the cook and he will clean the grill as best as possible before cooking my food on it. My wife and I come here about once every 2 weeks for lunch or dinner. We both really appreciate the friendliness we experience here. You'll be glad you went. As a side note, the spring rolls are not so great. read more

Great food and friendly staff. Grab a bowl, pick the meat you want, pick the veggies you want, pick the noodles to go with it, then choose the spices you want, as much or as little as you want. I have the perfect combo of these that I have found by experimenting. I have probably eaten here at least 300 times. Other friends have tried it once and have not liked it. It will only be as good as you make it. The first time I ate here the staff assisted me and asked me if I wanted it sweet, spicy, sour, salty and it turned out incredibly awesome. Very good Mongolian fare here. A bit better variety than the gold standard - the Davie street one - and better priced than most of the others I've been to. This is as close to the Davie street one that I've seen in price and quality. They need some work on the kitchen conditions as the cook was stepping on flattened cardboard boxes rather than a fatigue mat and this was the main reason I never rated this as a 5 - but the lunch special is well priced and I will definitely be a regular. read more

This place is a health trap. There food is cross cantaminated and the food wasnt cooked fully. Carefully inspect the food for raw pieces because the chefs dont care. Two friends and myself all got food poisoning from eating here. Ive been incapacitated with severe digestion issue, nausousness and dehydration. STAY AWAY! read more
