Came by for lunch when it opened on a weekday over the Christmas holidays in a group of two with a fellow Elite. So we did not have to wait for seating...which is great as this place can get quite busy. The sauce making station was pretty standard and I enjoyed making my own dipping sauces. We had the AYCE lunch special for $21.99 (+ broth). We opted for the chicken broth which was nice...not over salted or spicy. Sampled all the proteins and much of the vegetables and leafy greens. I am far from an expert on the cuts of the protein at hot pots but I did like the beef (done two ways) and the lamb. The service was pretty good and they were quite attentive. We both came away very full and satisfied. It was a positive food experience.

So my friend brought me to a super random hotpot place right by metrotown and i have to say it wasnt that bad. Though i wish i had taken more pics but this will do. I really don't know what to expect since AYCE is a hit or a miss at majority places. But surprisingly this wasn't all that bad. This place does have diff tier pricing also discounted during happy hour or if you come on a weekday. The soup is included in the price, they have an unlimited open sauce bar that has a ton of options, a hot food appetizer bar that comes with whichever tier you choose. The thing that i love about this place is the shrimp/beef balls are made fresh, they aren't the artificial ones that are sold in bulk or coming out of a huge bag or anything. The cuts of meat had a wide variety, i was pigging out on lamb and pork belly. They are sliced thinly, there's some marinated options too. Guess what!!! If you love deep fried mochi filled with brown sugar or deep fried chinese style chicken wings along with deep fried buns and condensed milk well you are in luck because it's all part of the AYCE !! We got seated after 10 mins without a reservation, they do take resos though!! Plenty of free parking in the parking downstairs. Service is consistent, staff speak good english. I do have to say the elevator on the way up to the restaurant is a bit sketch and funny smelling. You can always take the stairs though! The place is super packed and popular so if you're not someone who likes crowds, this place might not be for you. My least favourite thing was the icecream, the cone was good but the twist flavour didn't really taste like actual chocolate vanilla ... other than i'd give this place a stamp of approval. You need to try having potato slices in your hotpot it's so good!!!

Service was fast & friendly. We spent a couple hours there enjoying the lunch all you can eat menu. Broth became a bit salty until server added more clear broth.

First visit to the Burnaby location! Went for their lunch AYCE for $21.99/person and it's such a good deal. We stayed for 1.5 hrs, they have a big sauce bar, with golden buns, spring rolls, veggie noodles and desserts. You order on a paper menu, lots of variety of meats, veggies, fish, tofu and noodles. You can pick the broth from the list and it is shared with everyone on the table. Great for large parties as you can try more variety!

We went to Happy Lamb in Burnaby, early in the day before it was even open so that we could be sure to get a table for ourselves. This place does AYCE hot pot. We were stuffed beyond belief! Many of the newer hot pot restaurants offer individual hot pots but this one is a more traditional style where there is one shared pot for everyone to do their cooking in. Thankfully, this pot had a divider so I was able to have a Vegetarian broth on one side while my husband could have his meat broth on the other side. Our daughter would just switch every now and then between eating from one side or the other. Service was extremely slow this day. There's a time limit on the table but we weren't even served any food for the longest time which was a bit annoying. It's one thing to be slow with bringing out food when the kitchen is cooking food for customers. This was hot pot though. We were the ones who would be doing the cooking; they were taking ages just to bring out any food for us to cook. Hoping this was just an isolated incident. Other than the slow service, we very much enjoyed our meal here. Service: Could have been better Parking: Paid parking beneath the restaurant Location: 4755 Kingsway, Burnaby, BC

Happy Lamb offers yummy lunch options other than hot pot. So here's an updated review on ideas/items to order to create your own non hotpot lunch combo: (What we ordered in addition to a hot pot set lunch) Appetizer: - house special sesame cake - marinated radish Entree: - grilled lamb shank - grilled lamb skewer Dessert: - sweet Chinese donut - pumpkin cake Drinks - sweet soy milk - watermelon juice Happy Lamb has great lamb dishes to my liking. I especially enjoy their grilled lamb shank and find the quality quite consistent. Service, as always, is courteous, friendly and prompt. As well as great service, ambiance is chilled and relaxing. I like their decor which has lots of natural lighting and find their booth seating comfy. Visit happy lamb for a happy lunch :)

Update: I decided to lower the review to 1 star after talking with my friends. They told me that the waiter straight up told them in Chinese that "there's another booking for 8 people after you so you don't need to order, I can select and bring the meats to you", despite us just sat down for less than 10 minutes and was still figuring out what to order. Unfortunately due to this incident many of my friends feel disrespected and unwelcome. There were also flies flying around my table which can be considered a potential food hygiene problem, and my friend also found a piece of plastic stuck on the vegetable they served us. I won't call out the name of the waiter out of respect for privacy and confidentiality, but we definitely won't come back to the store, despite having been a regular for a while. Keep going like this and they may be reported to VCH. The food is ok, but the service has gotten argueably worse. We just barely sat down in our table and there was this middle aged waiter who was very insisting that he will bring us some meat dishes first despite us are still picking our choices (essentially he insisted that he would pick the items for us, despite this is a AYCE where guests are the ones who get to choose). The situation made us feel like the restaurant is trying to kick us out despite us just barely got to our seats. They also didn't bring all the dishes that we ordered, despite us asking for it a few times. For the future, I hope they can improve.

So I finally had a chance to try this place after the IP overlords from China (literally) forced these guys to change their name. I don't say this too often, but I think the Happy Lamb experience is actually superior to the old Chubby Lamb. Parking is still available in the lot underneath the building. The meat is nice and fresh, and now they serve it pizza style on round plates. They don't mess around with the portions. My friends and I destroyed ourselves with great prejudice. Beer is a bit overpriced (think western style pubs) but can't complain. Goes well with hot pot. This is one of the better deals in town for AYCE hot pot. FYI the Broadway and Kingsway locations are AYCE but the Richmond (Lansdowne) one isn't. Something to keep in mind.

I went here with a friend back in Jan 5th for lunch. We couldn't go to Dolar Shop after having trouble finding a table. The restaurant was quite slow around 2PM because most people prefer dining at Dolar Shop I assume. We had a great variety of toppings of veggies, meat and some seafood. Server forgot to bring us some pork blood, but remembered to bring them after asking her. Food was pretty good. Hot pot is pretty good for cold winter days anyway. We weren't aware of 25% discount after receiving the bill. I was afraid we get charged around $40, but felt pleased after receiving the discount. Our server Jusco was very helpful. I had a better experience comparing to last time where staff actually remembered the order without having to remind someone. We've received the drink refill as well.

We like coming here for All You Can Eat hot pot. Food is always fresh and the sliced beef is good quality. We order the soup base for $9.99 extra ( they require you to order a soup base), $31.99 for 12+ years old. Soft drinks for $2.99 and they offer refills. There is a small selection of ready cooked food such as fries, egg rolls and noodles. The sauce bar has a great selection of your standard sauces (peanut, satay, chilli sesame oil etc..) I recommend making reservations, they are usually packed even on week day nights.

Nestled in Burnaby by Metro, Happy Lamb promises unforgettable dining. Warmly greeted, we settled at sleek tables with induction cookers. The menu, diverse, offered broths, meats, seafood, veggies, and noodles. Classic spicy Sichuan and mild herbal broths delighted. Fresh ingredients arrived promptly. Thinly sliced beef and lamb melted, while shrimp and fish balls were plump. Fresh veggies provided contrast. We relished cooking and sampling each ingredient. Staff offered recommendations and the condiment bar allowed customization. I ate 15 plates!

The place used to be a fried chicken (fast food) joint way back, so the seating area is actually not that large. Most of the space is taken up by the kitchen. Staff are friendly and professional. The food is typical mid end banquet style, but the flavours are good, and the value is there. Lettuce wrap - standard restaurant fare. Decent quality. Fried green bean - nice and spicy, thanks to the house chili sauce. They can tune the spiciness on this one. Default is on the spicier side. Tasty. Shanghai fried noodles - standard restaurant fare. Hot & sour soup - better than the competition. Not sure what's special about it, but it stood out. Chongqing deluxe fried rice - one of their signature dishes. Great mix of flavour. Crispy rice with shrimp soup - honestly this would be the one dish that wasn't that great. Rice blocks were crispy, but the shrimp soup was nothing special. I'd skip this dish. Other than the crispy rice, everything is pretty standard compared to similar places out there. Expectations were met. Very good value. I'd gladly eat here again. Recommended.

They're a Northern Chinese spot that specializes in Guangxi cuisine and located right next to Onezo Tapioca. Even though it closes at 9:00pm, there were still people after us that came in for late night eats. We didn't have any issues with service; they came by to fill our tea several times. Just wish they gave bigger cups. Food comes out in a hurry. The menu is short and sweet: noodles, rice meals, appetizers, wontons and drinks. Trip #1 First visit was on a late Wednesday evening (around 8:30pm). - Mama's unique special milk tea ($4.80) - we added grass jelly ($0.50) which was unfortunately from a can. The milk tea was different than the norm as there was sweet fermented rice bits mixed in. Decent but don't think we'd get it again. - Sour and spicy crystal noodle ($6.98) - glass noodles with minced pork, bean sprouts, cilantro and peanuts. We got our dish medium spicy which was mild. Broth was excellently balanced; loved the sour notes. Glass noodles had a satisfying bite and cilantro added freshness to the bowl. - House special escargot rice noodles in spicy noodles ($13.98) - escargot, pig ear, beef, tofu, marinated egg, shrimp and pork intestine. There was also pickled green beans, bamboo shoots, tofu skins, wood ear mushrooms and peanuts. Really different with a good variety of textures and flavour. Loved all the types of meat, especially the tender beef, pork intestine and pig ear. Escargot was tasty but we wanted more. The tofu skin and wood ear mushrooms underneath were excellent. - Fresh meat wonton ($5.98) - this comes in a light broth with 15 homemade wontons, pickled seaweed and baby dried shrimp. Broth is basic but the wontons are great. Trip #2 Second trip was on a Friday evening (around 8:00pm). - Braised beef, pig ear and tofu ($10.98) - the beef is the same as what you get in their noodle bowls. Pig ear wasn't crunchy but the sauce (some sort of Chinese mushroom) was good. Tofu was fairly standard. For the price, it's a small dish; I didn't think it was worth it. - Shredded chicken, vegetable and cold noodle with house sauce ($9.53) - they asked us how spicy we wanted it; we went with spicy. Again, it's not so don't worry. The noodles were thin and the sauce was almost like a dan dan mein. We liked how it wasn't overwhelmingly peanuty. - Beef and escargot rice noodle in spicy soup ($9.98) - the beef is super tender. Again, the escargots are hard to find but everything else in this bowl is delicious. Tofu skin, wood ear mushrooms, bamboo shoots, bean sprouts, peanuts and pickled green beans. Satisfying and spiciness finally came through. An interesting twist to the usual Northern Chinese spots typically found in town. Cash or debit only.
