I wasn't planning on going back into the nail salon after the last time I had been there. Fortunately I waited until the last minute and it was the only place open. I am so glad I took a chance and went back because now it's under new management. I'm thinking it probably has been for a month or two. Everything is different. The entire staff, the actual salon itself and all of the services they offer. Their prices went up a tad but it's definitely worth it for the quality that you receive. I couldn't be happier about all the new changes that Sunray has implemented and I intend on being a lifelong customer. Thanks for all the changes it's very much appreciated. When it's time to get my mani and pedi's, I like to treat this as ME TIME; Ambiance is important! With that being said, this is not a nail salon that I'd recommend, nor return to. Unless you're in a hurry and relaxation isn't in your plans? Long story short, my pedi was average (with a very minimal massage and barely warm stones), my nail refill was below average (with a cut and some blood along the way), and for these reasons I decided not to even give my eyebrows a try. Definitely worth adding- While we were being serviced, there was a huge argument between two nail techs that ended with one packing a box and walking out. Later I was told (since they weren't speaking English) that she quit on the spot. I would give this salon points with regards to their inexpensive prices...but that's about it. There were three employees and two customers prior to our arrival. We were seated for our pedicures. They began on my sister first. I sat patiently with my feet in the water for 35 minutes. My feet had pruned the water was ice cold. I got up dried my feet and left. My sister and I ended up down the road for the completion. I am so happy to have discovered this spot! I was on Westheimer going to another nail salon that I heard had a lot of good reviews, however they had 10 nail techs with a full house. So I googled the closet spot from where I was at and I'm so glad I found Sun Ray Nails. Having learned my lesson, I called them to see if they could take a walk-in, and the answer was yes. From the outside it looks very small, but once you walk in you see a very clean and well organized salon. The owner is usually there and she does a good job at "table touching" and making sure all of her guests are having a good experience. Mimi does my nails, from that day on forward. She's very fast yet does a very good job! I had another younger lady do my nails once (Mimi doesn't work on Mondays) and she was on the dot with my nails. It took a little longer but I cannot complain considering it lasted me 4 weeks without need a refill, and another 3 with one. Mimi remembers everyone! As well as the rest of the staff, they take personal interest with you and make sure you leave happy. Price range? It's great honestly, not too expensive whatsoever. I am never coming back to this place!! How does it take 3 fucking hours to do my nails!! I want to full set instead of them giving me what I wanted he kept telling me what to get I did not want shellac because it takes too fucking long. I asked for powder that is what I wanted the shape of my nails are terrible. I kept telling them how tired I was that is why I only wanted a full set to get in and out three hours gone. He wanted to charge me $45 for a full set are you serious?? With shellac $60 i have never paid that much. I normally tip minimum $15 but I did not even want to tip that. Never again I advise that if they are unable to give you what you want then they should just do their own nails Time wasted and I am at home filing my nails the way I wanted them they are not long enough! I had been going to Sun Ray Nails since (Vince) before the current management had taken over the shop. I had a few favorite nail technicians then as well as under new management in particular Vy who was absolutely a sweetheart. She took care of my nails and I would make appointments only for her after both the manager/owner and Tami did a poor job on my nails. I had no issues for a few years up until recently. Vy unfortunately had to leave the shop so a lady named Lee began doing my nails and I would make appointments for her as well. The last time I went there I asked for a certain shape and I'm not sure if she couldn't do it but she told me no (after i had already requested it the time before she told me next time) or just wouldn't. So the manager/owner shaped them instead with her finishing up. The lady on my feet i had never seen in there before, maybe she was new however she did a terrible job on my pedicure. The grooming part of the pedicure itself was actually fine it was the polish and after care. She left polish all around my toes and when asked to fix she ended up smearing it. I expressed to Lee with a hand gesture "never again" from afar leave a tip and think all is fine. I call to make an appointment with Lee the other day and Tami answers and says "is this Monica?" I reply yes and she states Lee no longer wants to work for you and I ask well who else is there she says her and someone else but I expressed that I didn't like their work. (Yes, i did because you can barely file girl) She claims that they don't feel comfortable doing my nails? She asked me to find another shop to go to. I honestly did nothing to these people and should be able to express my gripes as a paying customer for a service. This is how a loyal customer is treated however. I'm only giving them 1 star and that's for Vy cause she was the only one in there who can do nails anyway. read more

The first time I came here, was amazing! Loved my nails, and the work was top notch. The second time, was less impressive. The rhinestones came off after a few days and I wasn't in love with the shape. No big deal, I'm always down to work with a salon and their techs. Third time was.. not good at all. The tech I had stopped 3 times while doing my nails to wax someone, and then take off nails for someone else and then shape another client's nails that was a walk in. Mind you, there were 3 other techs in there with her. She didn't know what I meant by a "ballerina" shape. And the work just had little quality to it. The nails started lifting after 2 days. Did not feel like a valued client. That was the push I needed to just get my own tools and start doing my own nails. Nice people, they were never rude. But I couldn't continue to pay $60 + $10 tip for a 50/50 chance at a quality set. read more
