Full female crew from reception to chefs, super attentive and friendly! We love every dish that we ordered and they all look like art when presented. We were lucky to get the table by the entrance bc we didn't have any reservations. Definitely want to come back in the future and highly recommended for getting a reservation to enjoy their main seating area

So good. In the running for top meal of the year and that's a high bar. Everything from start to finish was great. The service was on point but not pushy with great recommendations for first timers. The ambiance was cool and airy grounded with greenery and that mural. The food was nothing short of amazing. We had the croquettes, yellow fin crudo, octopus salad, fries, udon noodles, and scallops. We would skip the octopus salad but that was just to try something different not an indictment of the dish. The others we would have a terrible time missing next time. The croquettes were the best we've had and that includes Barcelona. The udon noodles were spicy and creamy and near perfect. The fries were so elevated with the spices and chili oil aioli. The scallops were so well executed and that yellow fin crudo was expertly done. Even the little pork buns were bursting with flavor with the exact amount of crunch and texture from the pan. Everything was top notch and so thoughtfully conceived and prepared. A true chef designed menu. We will be back to this interesting take on Portuguese Asian fusion. Terra Mae is a winner all the way around.

We ordered a ton of seafood dishes that were flavorful and fresh! The cod in the fisherman's stew was buttery and delicious! I also really enjoyed the yellowtail crudo which melted in your mouth. We shared everything and it came out perfectly and unfolded well. This place is great for a special occasion or when you want to really treat yourself.

We had one of the private rooms rented for a work dinner. Our waiter was so sweet and explained each dish well. Everything we had was incredible- the favorites being the udon and the tuna. Everything was so fresh and they also made accommodations for those who were GF or vegetarian. Will definitely be returning!

Terra Mae is a premiere and upscale dining destination in the PDX area for a nice date or celebration. This unique Portuguese-Japanese fusion spot is located on the 2nd floor of the Cascade Hotel and Wellness Spa. Reservations are highly recommended and hard to come by, so plan accordingly. To get here, street parking will be your main option. Inside, they have a gorgeous and dimly lit setup with tons of seating. For their menu, they have a range of unique items to choose from. Wifey and I opted to go for a spread consisting of the Milk Bread Buns, Mentaiko Udon, Alcatra, Dumplings, and the Duck Duck Rice. Every bite we had was amazing and we really enjoyed the ambiance of the spot. All of the staff are very friendly and accommodating. Definitely book your next special occasion or date night here and come check them out!

This place was AMAZING! Please do yourself a favor and go get a reservation!! Very exclusive feel and service. You will not be disappointed! Favorite items- Steelhead Sashimi, Yellowtail Crudo, Alcatra, Mentaiko Udon Wouldn't order again- Milk Bread Buns (just bread with a few choices of butter), Terra Major (too chewy)

The restaurant is beautiful and the service was great but we were a bit underwhelmed by the food. We've heard great reviews and also mixed reviews from friends that have dined here, so we wanted to try it out for ourselves. The small plates were good, such as the bread + butter, fries and green bean tempura. The bread comes with two milk buns and three small schmears of butter. The fries were well seasoned and came with a nice dipping sauce. The tempura was really light, crisp and flavorful. We were interested in getting the tonkatsu also, but didn't get it since they didn't allow for adjustments/substitutions but heard good things about that. For the entrees, we got the duck duck rice, lobster bao and scallops mozambique. The duck duck rice had a nice crust at the top and overall was ok. I desired more spice or some sort of sauce to drizzle on it. The lobster and caviar bao sounded good in theory but I felt like the bao buns took away from the flavor of the lobster and caviar so we ended up not eating the buns with it. The seared scallops were served with grits and I thought the scallops were nicely seared. The dish was rich and creamy but due to personal preference, I felt it needed something to add a pop of freshness or acidity. The rice custard with sugar crust dessert we had was reminiscent of crème brûlée. We didn't try their raw items (due to a food preference of my dining partner) and have heard great things about those dishes, so perhaps that's where we missed out on some gems.

This is my second time booking at Terra Mae for a special event. I booked online and got a reservation at the time I wanted. I put in a special note regarding the event for my party. When we arrived, the staff made us feel welcome by bringing my guest a drink on the house for their retirement celebration. I knew the menu but tried some new things! We shared everything. My favorite item I have to order each time is the Tuna Tartar. Its favors are rich but delicate. The presentation is perfect and my guest was impressed. I got the dumplings for her but if I had to skip something I'd do those. They were good but compared to all the other items we had, they were lacking. The only thing not pictured is our wagu braised with sweet potato. That was phenomenal. It pulled apart and melted in your mouth with every bite. We ended with two very different deserts, the strawberry mochi and whipped crem brûlée type desert. Both were tasty. Price range for all plus three alcoholic drinks was $165 not including tip. We were full and happy. Great service as always and it was full, busy house tonight inside the place. I wouldn't change anything other than trying some new things next time to add!

We got a reservation for 9pm on a Saturday for this place which I would not recommend. The restaurant was packed & extreme busy. The restaurant is on the second floor & the interior was beautiful, but the service was mixed. The hostesses were super knowledgeable about the menu item & gave us recommendations, but our server was lacking. The food was delicious but on the pricier side. We got the mentaiko udon, dumplings, duck duck rice, and the lobster bao. It took an hour for all four dishes to come out. Apparently there was a separate menu for dessert that the servers offer after the meal but our server never offer to us. We were a little disappointed about that but we realized after we paid.

Since this spot was all over Instagram, I decided to give in to the hype and chose it for our anniversary dinner. We were promptly greeted and seated, and the space is beautiful -- bright, with colorful murals and plenty of room between tables. The menu is a Japanese-Portuguese fusion with some dishes inspired by family recipes. We ordered: * Milk buns * Dumplings * Alcatra * Tuna tartare Everything was tasty, and the Alcatra was our favorite of the night. We also tried the Hanami Corpse and The Last Bull Fight cocktails -- both were well made. Service was excellent, and the complimentary white wine was a thoughtful touch. That said, while the food was good, nothing really stood out as memorable. The experience didn't quite deliver the high-end or foodie excitement we were hoping for.

Don't even think about visiting Portland without stopping at Terra Mae....it's truly a hidden gem. I started with the yellowtail crudo, which was incredibly fresh, rich, and buttery. Then I had the spicy mentaiko udon, packed with flavor and absolutely delicious. For drinks, I tried the Rajah, a fantastic recommendation from my waiter. The atmosphere is beautiful, the service is flawless, and the food is simply unforgettable. Trust me....you'll be thanking me after you try it.

Where do I even start?! I planned a birthday trip to Portland and, like any self-respecting millennial in need of a little serotonin, I went straight to TikTok for research LOL. I stumbled across a review from Keith Lee (yes, that food influencer) calling this spot the best food in Portland -- and obviously, I had to see for myself. We made reservations for my birthday dinner, showed up a little early, and the staff let us grab drinks in this super cute lounge area while we waited. The vibe was chef's kiss -- bright and airy but still had that sleek, sexy edge. Once we got seated (perfect timing, by the way), we ordered half the menu because... self-control who? Every single dish was incredible. I'm talking legit shock and awe levels of delicious. Not a single miss. My top favorite though? The tuna. It literally melted in my mouth like butter. The staff was so kind, attentive, and on point the entire night. I still think about this place way too often and can't wait to go back. If you're reading this trying to decide whether to go -- stop overthinking. RUN, don't walk. This place is the real deal.

One of the best restaurant experiences I've had. It was a truly special dinner with tons of food, inventive drinks and quick service. The kitchen moved like a well-oiled machine, and we thoroughly enjoyed our server. The restaurant makes great use of the space with a variety of seating options, and not one bad seat in the house. The lighting is perfect, and the buzz is at the perfect level. We tried a number of items, but our favorite was the yellowtail crudo. It was the best yellowtail we'd ever had, and most people pass on it for the tuna. Get the yellowtail!

To speak about Teardrop Lounge, I should probably start with this:…read more Ladies and gentlemen, I present my favorite cocktail bar. Not the best -- I'm not arrogant enough to claim that. I haven't been to every cocktail bar in Portland, and saying something is the best usually says more about your lack of experience than your conviction. But favorite? That I can stand behind. And I want to get that out of the way early, because of the amount of praise I'm about to pour on this place -- fully earned, completely intentional. The biggest crime here is that I only discovered it two weeks ago, after living in Portland for a year. It had been recommended to me countless times, and I ignored it. A mistake. A painful one. But now that I've found it, I don't plan on making that mistake again. I'm not typically an Old Fashioned drinker. In fact, I usually hate them. But somewhere between curiosity and too many episodes of Mad Men, I decided to try one anyway -- fully expecting to confirm my bias. Instead, it completely flipped me. Bright, almost citrus-forward in a way that felt unusual but entirely intentional. Balanced, smooth, just enough burn to remind you what you're drinking without overwhelming it. It was the first time I actually understood the appeal. I'm pretty sure I grew a few chest hairs that night. That alone would've been impressive. But it didn't stop there. The space is beautiful -- clean, intentional, but not cold. The staff are excellent: personable, engaged, and most importantly, authentic. Not scripted, not performative. The kind of people you actually want to talk to, and hopefully, eventually be on a first-name basis with. Now, all of that gets it close to a perfect score. But what pushes it over the edge -- what makes this place stick -- is the White Russian. One of the first drinks I ever had. My dad's drink. Not because of The Big Lebowski -- that came later -- but because it's just always been his thing. And at some point, it became mine too. Typically, when bars try to "elevate" a White Russian, they ruin it. They overthink it. Swap ingredients, tweak ratios, add unnecessary flair. And more often than not, it ends in disappointment. Teardrop does the opposite. They respect it -- but refine it. The coffee liqueur actually tastes like coffee. The heavy cream is properly integrated, not just dumped on top. The vodka -- whatever they're using -- is clean, present, and perfectly measured. There's a subtle complexity to it without losing what makes the drink what it is. It's the best White Russian I've ever had. No hesitation. I've gone back twice just to make sure it wasn't a fluke. It wasn't. If someone asked me what my death row drink would be -- this specific cocktail, from this specific bar, is in the conversation. Easily. Teardrop Lounge doesn't just make great cocktails. It reminds you why cocktails matter in the first place. And that's why it's my favorite.

We came to Teardrop Cocktail Lounge while visiting Portland and were genuinely impressed…read more The cocktails were excellent -- thoughtful, well-balanced, and clearly made by people who know what they're doing. One of the best parts was how approachable the bartenders were. We asked for custom drinks based on our preferences, and both came out perfectly tailored. Creative without being weird, and strong without being sloppy. What really stood out was the price point. For the quality of cocktails, the prices felt very reasonable compared to similar craft cocktail bars in other cities. The vibe was also great -- relaxed, cozy, and not pretentious. It felt like a place where you could come for a special drink experience without feeling like you had to "perform" or order off a rigid menu. We liked it so much we actually came back a second time during our trip. Highly recommend if you're into well-crafted cocktails, friendly bartenders, and a laid-back but elevated atmosphere.
