This place is filled to the brim with all kinds of souvenirs! They had way more mens t shirts than for ladies. For women they had a lot of sweatshirts which is kinda crazy considering it's a beachy place and most people are looking for clothes that will keep the cooler in the summer sun. I will say they have the most darling collection of vintage postcards and only .75! That's so cheap! Water bottle stickers are locked in a glass cabinet and $5.99, which is expensive compared to other local stores. Came here on a Friday after arriving in Santa Cruz, parking on the wharf, (how is this a thing?!) along came a breeze and my southern CA child having goose bumps and me being a bad mom forgot the sweatshirt at our friend's house in the bay area. Wandered into here (it was one of 2 places to get sweatshirts on the boardwalk). It was crowded with stuff (not so much people). They sell a good variety of things. I was able to find a sweatshirt and bought a magnet for a souvenir. It was expensive ($40) but to be expected since it is probably geared towards tourists. The only interaction I had with staff was at checkout and it was fine. The guy wasn't overly talkative, rang up my stuff, told me my total and I paid. A shop on Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. I assumed it would be expensive but I was proven wrong. Twice. I needed a pair of sunglasses. Because the shape of my head/face is weird, I wanted assistance. I asked the girl behind the counter to help me. She was very patient and after trying on about 10, I found one that matched my face. And last Saturday I found myself here. Again. I wanted swimwear. Anything because it was too damn hot. I was walking around in a black sheer top and a bikini bottom but that still wasn't cooling enough. Instead of buying swimwear because I didn't really notice any, I found some short shorts (see main profile picture). It was cheap and I found the only size small on the rack! I will go back for more. I love how sexy it makes me feel. After my transaction, I went back to The Main Beach by The Dream Inn and relaxed some more under the sun. I hate leaving bad reviews, but I feel like the poor service that Sun Shops in Santa Cruz provides must be brought to light to unaware consumers. It is with a sad heart that I do so. Shoddy service happens, I realize this; that said, there are instances where I feel that employees go above and beyond in regards to providing suboptimal assistance, and Sun Shops in Santa Cruz has cornered this market. Considering the fact that Santa Cruz depends on tourism, and further considering that a worldwide pandemic has put an enormous dent in said industry, one would think that both employers and employees would go out of their way to encourage positive shopping experiences to help mitigate the pandemic's effects on business. Sun Shops in Santa Cruz has no regard for such things. To say the service from the employees was shoddy on our visit is to give too much credit. I would never return to such a shop and highly encourage anyone else to avoid a first visit. Want to go into a place to spend your hard-earned cash? This is the place to skip. If they were to initiate training in customer service for their employees, it would be a start. Until then, please find an alternative. read more

We walked up to the shop and there was a station blocking the door. We waited there assuming it was a line to enter. The employee at the front looked at us but didn't say a word. I keep wondering if we were at the eighth door, or if the store was closing. Finally another employee came out from someplace and opened the ropes for us. We selected our items and went to pay. I asked if I could also get a sticker from behind the glass behind her. The employee looked at me as if I just asked for her firstborn. Then she said something about needing a new pen and scribbled on a paper. Luckily another employee went and got it. Without a smile or acknowledgment to us at all however. read more

This place is one of the nicer stores on the Boardwalk to pick up t-shirts, sweatshirts and stuff like that. Found a Momo's t-shirt for BFF's hubby. The Momo surf shop across the street didn't have any left in his size. Prices are comparable for t-shirts at these shops - $18-22. It's a fairly large store staffed by local high school or college students. They have some of the nicer looking t-shirts on the Boardwalk and are displayed in box formation on the walls similiar to Crazy Shirts. read more

I'd give this shop 0 stars if I could. I bought a sweatshirt here a few months ago that had a defective zipper. I tried to bring it back today, and their return policy is 90 days...period regardless of defectiveness of the merchandise. I was here at 96 days. I tried to work with them and they wouldn't give more store credit, zip zero nada, nothing. The "manager" was not helpful at all. When you sell me something defective 96 days ago, it's not going to magically fix itself, and if I manage to bring it back good customer service is an attempt to make it right. This establishment doesn't even attempt, they just say "If you came before the 90 day period I could have helped you but now I can't". Bad customer service - even worse merchandise...if you have to shop here check everything over CAREFULLY. read more

They will close early when ever they want. Says closes at 6 but they refuse entrance and hold doors closed at 5:20pm it's exit only. Bummer.

Let alone that it's expensive even for defective last call sale products. Some of the staff are not trained well and are put during busy times on the cash. I realized after a week that she added an item that I didn't buy, I just asked her about the price and never took it! That's after along time of punching wrong numbers! I wanted to check an item at full price. She kept saying but this is on full price and I kept explaining that I know and I would like to check this item! We were there a little while ago to buy some ray bans. There were 4 people at the counter doing nothing and nobody came to help us.

Whenever I come to the Boardwalk, I always make a stop here because for some reason I always seem to forget something! This shop is nice, it sorta reminds me of an ABC store like the ones from Hawaii. Nice place to stop by and get a souvenir. They have sweaters, shirts, towels, key chains, frames, jewelry, slippers, toys for the kids, sticker decals..of course its a bit pricey since its on the boardwalk. We came here Saturday and I didn't think we'd really be going out on the beach, but sure enough it wasn't too bad and we ended up out there..my daughter wanted to "build" sand castles...out of the couple shops i hit this store had buckets..ranging from 5-8 bucks with shovels and those character mold things. It got an 8 dollar set..sure is pricey but it made my daughter happy. They got really cute shirts..but I felt like I was too big to fit into them.. haha they take card which is a plus. read more
