Amazing staff! We enjoyed dinner here while visiting SB. After dinner, I accidentally left my purse behind. The waiter came out to find me, but I had already left. Came here on a Sunday night. It's a nondescript location but we stepped in and it's was legit Japanese: servers, sushi chefs, sake bar, bamboo decor. Food was spot on. The volcano roll was fantastic (came with siracha mayo) and the spicy scallop hand roll melts in your mouth. The vegetable udon was spot on. And you know it's a legit place when the wasabi is coarse instead of the usual paste. I would definitely come back. The service was also great. Folks are attentive here. Bravo!! read more

I have been here a few times now and left feeling different each time about the food. What was consistent is very little fish on the rolls and almost paper thin slices at times. The rolls are also on the smaller side. I ordered the spareribs twice. The first time was delicious; therefore I came back and ordered it again, but the meat was chewy and not good the second time. My review is 1 star for take out experience. On the phone, the girl taking my order took forever to "find" the items I was ordering, even though I was looking at their website and going off their menu posted there. Girl, you need to just write it down and figure it out later if you haven't learned the menu yet. Then, I showed up exactly when they said my order would be ready (25 minutes) and the girl at the front told me it would be another 5-10 minutes without apologizing, and tried to act like I had showed up early. Then, I was happy bc I didn't end up having to wait that long but as I found out later, it was because they forgot one of my rolls! I didn't call to complain because I was already pretty far away but I'm annoyed at having spent so much on pretty mediocre sushi. They also only gave me one pair of chopsticks for a big order and I had to go back in to ask for another. I should have double checked my order too at the time :( I don't like to leave bad reviews but this was just too many things going wrong for me to give them anything less than one star. read more

Great authentic and high quality sushi, with some fun options as well! I ordered the salmon nigiri, Inari, and red dragon roll, and it was all very fresh and delicious! The tempura shrimp in the dragon roll was cooked very well, it wasn't chewy at all. Very tender and delicate (I'm very picky about shrimp lol). My partner ordered the sushi box and it had crab and tuna, the crab was very sweet! We also chose to sit at the bar, and had great conversations with the sushi chef. Matsu's a very entertaining and fun chef :) Highly recommend sitting at the bar if you're able to! It makes the experience more interactive, genuine, and enjoyable. We decided to try a new sushi place, were a little unsure from the outside but followed a couple in and the sushi was AMAZING!!! Not very good, I expected much more coming from a place right next to the beach and the fish isn't fresh. Doesn't make sense.

Quality and freshness is very very good. Not the cheapest but you get what you pay for. The only downside: Parking is a nightmare.
