I'm a traveler and love sushi, this restaurant was recommended by a local. We had dinner, the restaurant just opened at 5pm there was no wait. We were greeted upon arriving and were sat with refreshments I'm not rating the place or the staff 1.5 starts it was the sushi it self. I was unsure what to order since every roll had cream cheese or spicy tune both not my favorite. I asked the waitress for a suggestion she was almost unsure herself. But she recommended the Omega 3 roll ( I've attached a photo) & I picked the yellow tail roll (also attached) The Omega 3 was completely drenched in some sauce, the rice was soaking wet on the roll. I tried to be open minded and I still tried it. The flavor was okay, I just couldn't get over the wetness to the roll. It was almost soggy sushi. The yellowtail roll wasn't any better. There was a huge portion of spicy mayo, it was meant to be a small dab but it ended coming the roll. That also over powered the actual yellow tail. Overall the food I ordered was not good, I doubt I would return before giving another sushi place in town a try. read more

It was my very first time at a sushi place and I took my friend here for her birthday (it's one of her favorite places to get sushi in town). We arrived just after they opened and could sit anywhere, so we sat outside. It's right behind Goodwill and across from a plaza with other businesses, so it could get a bit noisy with all the bustling and drop-offs at Goodwill. However, the little patio area was lovely! Simple, clean, with accent greenery that I really liked. I don't eat raw fish (but still wanted to take my friend to her favorite place since it was her special day) so I was nervous that my options would be extremely limited. I was pleasantly surprised to find so many options without fish - even some sushi rolls that had chicken and veggies! And the prices were amazing for a sushi place - I was excited. I got the chicken and cucumber sushi roll, with chicken karaage and veggie spring rolls to split, and my friend getting the "U.C.S.B." sushi roll for her. Everything was so good!! I think I fell in love with those spring rolls. So fresh and perfectly cooked - crispy and flaky! The chicken karaage could be a bit hard to get a bite off, but they were nice and crispy and hot. I thought my sushi roll was yummy but I think I would have liked a more savory sauce instead of the sweet sauce on it. And my friend absolutely LOVED her roll! She ate all of it! The wait staff were very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed, along with constantly refilling our water glasses. It was great! Food was good and service was very fast. We ordered the Rainbow Roll, another roll, and the Molly and Strawberry Nigori. Had it not been a cold, rainy, and windy day -- and had a disabled guest not been told to sit outside while plenty of seating was available indoors -- this likely would have been a five-star experience. However, I did need to address an ADA issue. Unfortunately, I've had to educate many businesses on ADA law, and it can be exhausting. Service animals are legally permitted anywhere the public is allowed. Most violations occur because staff are not properly trained and may confuse service animals with emotional support animals (ESAs) or pets. I hope management continues training staff so future guests with disabilities do not have to advocate for their legal rights themselves. read more

Last-minute decision to stop in for lunch. Got a great parking spot in front, but there's plenty of parking in back, too. Wonderful, shady, comfortable outdoor seating. Ordered the Teriyaki Beef/Chicken Combo. Started with a somewhat soggy Cabbage Salad that seemed unfresh with a dressing that lacked zing and flavor. The Beef was tender, but the Chicken was terrible. It had a rubbery, odd texture that seemed pre-cooked and reheated, not freshly grilled, and, most importantly, both meats lacked the char crust that perfects this dish. Took home for later, Chicken Gyoza and California Roll. The Gyoza was ok, but the California Roll was poor--mushy, watery crab. The server was overly enthusiastic, leaning over the table when just handing me the menu, asking for my order. They never once checked back on how my meal was or offered a water refill. They were quick to drop the ticket and present the CC device for payment. This could be an amazing place if they would level up. read more

Sushi Terri is my favorite place to go after a long day at work or just because I'm craving some teriyaki chicken. I highly recommend this place for all the combination specials, especially the teriyaki chicken and tempura with California roll. Our family likes to try the sushi special and the last trip the Carrillo roll was by far the most liked item on the menu. Staff recommended the chicken Katsu, which was enough to feed three people and we took home for lunch the next day. Additionally, the cabbage salad is a hit for even those who don't like salad. Always the BEST!! We dine or order with ST multiple times in a month. We've never had an inferior experience. The Combo plates are fabulous with several variations (including tempura). Take-out or dine-in, the quality and consistency never wavers. Having worked at a similar restaurant owned by the same people I'm always happy to come here. Last week my friend and I came in 30 minutes before closing to order to go. In the past I've asked to substitute items in the combos, and was told this time rudely by a staff member, they couldn't change the order and the chef behind the sushi bar nodded in agreement to my initial substitution. Instead I had to pay 3x the amount to order separate rolls, which wasn't what I originally needed. Sad to see service like this when I love this family run business. Imagine my surprise when I discovered sushi Teri in Goleta has a location in Santa Barbara! Firstly their nigiri is HUGE! I'm not a size queen but for their salmon nigiri, I am! Buttery soft and flavorful. This location is no different in quality but I like the location and outdoor patio. It's a beautiful place, intimate, cozy and the service staff are so very attentive. That kind of attentive I like. You just lift you head and look around and they come ask you what you need. I love that. I need that. The sushi rolls are for comfort. Lots of avocado and cream cheese. #ThankYouThursday I've been to their other restaurants in Goleta and Carpinteria, but this one is my preferred location. Certainly grateful for many tasty sushi dinners and take-outs over the years, especially when I was a college student with a limited budget! Sushi options are abundant in Santa Barbara, but the ones worth going to are high-end establishments reserved for special occasions. A good amount of the neighborhood joints tend to be mediocre, while still being on the pricier side. Sushi Teri manages to strike a balance, with fish that taste fresh, pieces that are decent sizes, and costs that are reasonable. The sushi rice holds up well and has the right amount of vinegar. When it comes to rolls, they have a good variety of choices on the menu. On a recent visit I tried the "New Crunchy", which is a deep fried roll that contains crab legs, shrimp, avocado, cucumbers, and cream cheese. It was a to-go order, but the outer tempura shell survived a 30 minute car ride and was still crispy by the time I sat down to eat. The combination of seafood and vegetables went well together. The cream cheese was unnecessary, but it wasn't overpowering. A big shoutout to Laxman Perera, Keiko Miyata, and the rest of the team at Sushi Teri/Nikka! Was craving some rolls, specifically salmon and eel rolls. Since nigiri is fairly expensive and not enough to fill my wife's and my hunger we opted for rolls. For the size(they weren't extremely small or big)of these rolls they were pretty pricey but it did it's job of filling us up. They do not have many options for salmon rolls other than nigiri and sashimi so I ended up with the Alaskan roll and the Molly roll. I also got the UCSB roll because I wanted eel and was really disappointed that there were barely any eel inside or on top. I'll stick to their sushi and not the rolls. read more
