Harry noticed swelling in one of my calves and was careful when working my leg. He pointed out plantar fasciitis, which I've also pondered as having. I'm very familiar with this, and I chuckle a bit at some massage reviews because a beneficial massage will leave you with some 'bruised' areas that were worked on - but the long term result will be in the positive. (I think some massage 'newbies' don't understand that if a massage is to be therapeutic and 'fix' you - your body will be a bit bruised in a spot or two and will take some time to 'adjusting' itself.) I'm angry because Boris just does NOT listen. I told him FIVE times that pressure in one particular part of my back was too much. And even after that he NEVER checked in with me to ask me if the pressure was now OK. He just went on and on like a robot, causing me a fair amount of pain during the massage, and I just woke up now at 4am with my left hand considerably numb! And please know that I am VERY accustomed to massage. Since this is a massage therapy, I expected a little bit of deeper pressure, and personally for me, I prefer that. It might not be everyone else's preference. There is a bit of a language barrier, but since I have been receiving all my treatments from the same RMT, it took about a couple of sessions before she and I worked out the amount of pressure and on what certain parts of the body as well. I just learned to speak up if I want something to change. Massage therapies are soothing, however there would be times when I hear staff talking, walking by, or having lunch (since the kitchen is close to the massage rooms). I went during the xmas break and, like everywhere else in Chinatown, it was super busy I suppose with many people off work. I went upstairs to check in, and they led me downstairs, which was quiet and appeared to be an overflow area for when it was too busy upstairs. Lily was ok with English, and quite skilled too. I now know to ask for the pressure at the beginning if they don't ask, and she was good with heavy pressure, although not quite as intense as at XiangXiang. She also seemed to know where to apply pressure that would do the most good for me. I found that a good masseuse will know where the pressure is needed, without having to ask. The pacing was pretty good, although she was interrupted a couple times with admin but given how busy it was, it seemed not overly disruptive. She also seemed to have her eye on a surveillance monitor which was in the room, allowing them to keep watch on several different areas of the business. I haven't seen this anywhere else, but was understandable with how intense this place can get. I see that Yelp lists them as open until 10:30 pm which is at least an hour later than anywhere else, although I didn't confirm the hours during my visit.
