I have been going to Sun Works Glendale for quite some time already. I loved their tanning beds and always got the best results in just 2-3 sessions. On occasion, I would do Mystic, but only when I needed color ASAP. I recently went on a Monday night, the eve of my birthday luau. I was running around all day buying decorations, booking vendors and entertainment, etc., and made a quick beeline for a Mystic before heading home to pack all my event décor in my vehicle. The young lady who helped me was sweet and suggested PURA vs Mystic, saying was more of an airbrushed look and it dries you after the session. Fantastic! I opted for PURA in the darkest shade available. I needed to achieve an Island-worthy glow over night. So, I do it. The following day, I was still pale, my color was just as uneven as before I went in the PURA machine. Meaning I did not have that even color and glow that is achieved when getting a spray tan. I paid $35. I called them up and a nice young lady asked if she could call me back while she talked with her manager. She did call me back and asked if I could go in so they may look at my "tan" ... Going in to Glendale would be hard with all the things I had going on the day of the party. I asked if the Pasadena location was an option. She checked and said yes. Moving things around in order to go in to have my tan, or lack there of, inspected was difficult because of my schedule. That, and it felt a little risky to get PURA done again hours before my party. Going in the next couple of days was hard because I got a little sick. I called the Pasadena location and explained. She knew my situation. She called her manager (Glendale) and he said no, because it had been a few days. You could clearly tell if there had been any temporary color applied to the skin even after a few days... Needless to say, I am very disappointed with having wasted my time and money at the Glendale location. I had to resort to make-up tricks for my party. Anyhow, the Pasadena location was super nice to me. But it is probably owned by the same person, so it will probably not matter if I tell you to go to their location instead. read more

I never in my wildest dreams thought that I would ever set foot in a tanning salon. As a California native, I have always had a natural glow from various outdoor summer activities and beach side vacations. However, this past year I missed out on my usual summer lounge sessions as I was I unemployed and forced back into my vampire-like schedule bartending to pay the bills. Desperate times call for desperate measures...and when a Vegas trip presents itself to you, you must do whatever it takes to prepare yourself. I kicked up the gym sessions a few notches, bought a few dangerously short dresses and finally made the decision to give this whole "spray tan" thing a try. A few coworkers recommended Sunworks and I decided to give them a call. The person who answered the phone was helpful without being judgemental of my idiotic questions "Will there be a huge streak of paint behind me if I jump in the pool??" They also told me there was a special going on for first time tanners, buy two tans get one free. Score, if I liked it, I could use it again for some other important occasion like a skimpy Halloween costume or my high school reunion. A few days later I arrived at Sunworks and found the atmosphere to be hip, trendy and yet still comfortable. The gentleman at the counter took the time to answer all my questions and go over exactly what to do when I stepped inside the booth. For an extra 5 dollars, I bought an primer and kicked my tan up a notch. that was the PURA an automated air brush the latest news in spray tanning The tan process was fast and precise. I left feeling confident and glowing.When I arrived at the airport to meet my friends, they immediately wanted to know where I'd been or what I had been doing to look so bronze. More importantly, I did not blind people with my original shockingly white skin when I hit the pool. I've been back for my free tan since and, without sounding like one of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.I think I'm hooked. hey ya'll......wow.. i finally found this place again Thank god! They used to be located on Glendale Ave....but they had moved and I wasn't sure where....so i would go to the other place called Cool Rays. I wasn't really getting any results from Cools? Theyre location is kind of dirty and the girls there are kind of rude.....i just couldn't stand it anymore.. But i just found out the other day that Sun Works is still in Glendale!!! I was at Robbins Brothers looking at jewelry and OMG I looked across the street and there it was....I was sooo happy you have no idea..i told all my friends in fact we all went together last saturday....and this saturday were going but dont tell my bf. Lmao AMAZING place SO clean....I cant beileve it...i went there omg the place is 3 times bigger than the last place literaly, it look so amazing. I did the high pressure bed and its CRAZY how much color i got in 12 min. I cant believe i was wasting my money at the other place. I'm normally not a miserable person to be leaving 1 star reviews on yelp, or leave reviews in general, but this one I really had to. Last 2 times I've been going here, my tan has been extremely uneven, some spots being very dark and other spots not even being sprayed. Didn't complain the first time, but the second time (a little over a week apart from each other) went by to show the front girl how bad it was. She saw and agreed that it looked horrible. Same thing happened with my friend that got tanned with me. Called the manager, Jack, to address my concern. And the $90 bucks I wasted on my 2 tans was not worth the few mins I spent talking on the phone w him. WHAT AN UNPROFESSIONAL JERK... all his responses were followed by a nasty sarcastic laugh.. all in all, I would never go back to this business and not because of the machine(which also sucks), but because of their customer service skills. read more

Great tanning place. Super clean, no wait time, great package deals and always some specials going on. First off the owner is amazing.. Friendly knowledgeable, he really cares about your needs which is rare to find. He compromise the quality of the equipments, consistently making upgrades, beds/bulbs are always at the best performance. . I tan frequently to keep a bronze toned all year long. I have been a client of Tan Works Tanning for more than 10 years and have always had the best experience. And what is most important, my skin have being always look good and healthy. I've been going to Sun Works for several years; I really enjoy going there both when I lived in Los Feliz, and now that I work in Glendale. The staff is knowledgeable about the tanning beds, booths, capsules, and red light therapy. The spa is clean and well kept. The atmosphere goes without saying depending on who is at the desk, but always good vibes from their tunes. They have great customer service; as I've seen them while waiting I have purchased product from them lotions, goggles, sessions; never been disappointed on them, nor their prices, or ervice. The "open hours" here are inaccurate. I've been patronizing this place for years -- probably spent upwards of $5000 here -- and lately the girls who run the front desk have been closing early. I showed up with my girlfriend at 9:30pm (it's supposed to close at 10, with the last session 1/2 hour before), and the door was locked. We knocked. The girl inside looked at us, turned, and walked away. Same thing happened to another dude who showed up a minute later. A couple weeks ago, I showed up at 6:45 on a Saturday, and the door was locked with no one inside (advertised Saturday hours are until 8). The owner really needs to clamp down on these girls going home early. read more

Sunworks Tanning is honestly one of the best tanning spots out there. I've been to both the Glendale and Pasadena locations and they're both amazing. Super clean, great equipment, and the staff at both spots are always welcoming and helpful. Glendale is the one I go to most now, and Jack really stands out as a manager. This is by far one of the best places I've been to before! The staff is always so friendly, attentive and helpful. I came in and needed a quick tan and the girl recommended the pura spray it was my first time trying that spray tan and I was extremely happy with results. This is an update from my post which was 2 months ago. So after my complain to Sun Work Tanning management that they charged me after I canceled my membership, I waited a week for their call to show me the membership form and policy and they never called. Then I reported to my bank and disputed the transaction. Today I got a letter from the bank that they completed their research and approved my claim for the disputed transaction. My husband purchased a membership for me as a Mother's Day gift and I have to say: I am so glad he did! I use the basic bed and only stay in for about 13-14 minutes and I have a nice medium base tan after only a few times and I started out super pale-like, paper white, pale. On top of their machines being great, the staff is also super great. All of the girls are very nice and helpful. They are always cheerful and kind. The facility is very clean and well kept. Just moved to this side of town and decided to try Sun Works out. Went in for a spray tan and the customer service I received was amazing. The girl there answered all my questions and gave me a tour of the salon, all with a smile. I loved the spray tan, very natural color. Went in the following week to use a tanning bed and also loved it. They gave me a great package deal and even some free tanning sessions. I am soooo happy I found this place and it's so close to my house. The prices were in the exact range I was expecting to pay and I was even able to get my girlfriend a membership as well. The beds are great and I love that they offer a free upgrade once a month to the stand up or spray tan! If you're like me and can't afford $50+ a month I do the basic beds and I have gotten plenty tan for $25 a month! I have gotten soooo many compliments on my tan and am more excited about my trip home to visit next month! read more
