This company is unprofessional & messed up. we rented a floor sander for $75. They put a $400 hold on my account. without telling me which cause a large amount of checks to incur overdraft fees. Had they just told me they were doing that, it would have been a different conversation. When I called them to complain, they were cavalier & down right rude. A guy named Fred asked my boyfriend inappropriate questions about our relationship which were none of his business! So gross & creepy! After we returned our rental equipment, it took DAYS to get the funds back into my account because of Sunbelt's delay tactics. Horrible company!!! Do not rent from them!! read more

Incredibly slow service. I went to rent two of those standing barricades that construction people use. The process was excruciatingly slow. Like 15 minutes just to get my drivers license info and pay. Then 5 minutes before someone outside can acknowledge my places order. Now I'm waiting like 20 minutes for the dude to put together the barricades WHEN I CLEARLY SEE A FEW MADE ALREADY. Holy crap, I didn't even know this company had a Yelp page but I wish I read it before. I would give them 0 stars if I could, but since Yelp doesn't allow it, 1 measly star for you A O Richardson. Like many other people have mentioned, this place hits you with a million hidden fees. Renting from this place is a total rip off. I got charged $157 at first for 2 A-frame ladders which I already thought was insane, and I just got an invoice for $217. It's ROBBERY. They are so shady; I don't know how the hell they are still in business. I definitely wouldn't recommend them to anyone unless they're willing to spend over $200 on ladders that they're only using for three days. I could've bought my own damn ladders and rented a U-HAUL for less. When I first called, all they told me was that the ladder rental was $14 per day, and I thought, "Wow, that's great! I'll take it." They never told me there was a fuel charge, a delivery charge, a pick up charge, and how much all of that was. And if they did, I probably would've went to someone else. (Which is why they probably didn't tell me.) There is so much paperwork that needs to be filled out and faxed back, making the entire rental process long and inconvenient. Then you have to pay a $600 deposit. $600!!!! They're just ladders!! Why the hell do I have to put down a $600 deposit for TWO LADDERS?! When I called to tell them how disappointed I was overall, all they could tell me was to call back when the manager was there because they didn't know what to tell me. Horrible customer service. This place is the biggest rip off for just simple rentals. I would stay FAR FAR AWAY. EDIT: I emailed Sandy to resolve the issue and everyone just keeps telling me to talk to other people. No one is doing anything to resolve my problem. and to make matters worse, she replied back to me and the entire email is in Comic f*cking Sans. COMIC SANS. I just can't with this company. She said their manager would call me but he never did, so I called and spoke to Doug and he really did nothing to fix the problem or make it better. He just kept saying "everything is there in black and white" and I brought up all the other negative reviews here and I just don't think they're going to take responsibility for anything, so Yelpers beware. He said he was "genuinely sorry that people felt this way" but I doubt that's true. I let them know they should just be clear and upfront with all their customers from the very beginning before any contracts are signed, but who knows if they will. I am literally rolling my eyes at this company. Customer service sucks, overpriced rentals, and hidden fees and charges. They need a serious wake up call. Refund promised by sales rep per terms. I adhered to the terms. Manager refused the refund. The manager made up several things after the fact...added a rental fee (on an unused item), said they have a no return policy on this item, claimed I said things I didn't say, etc. He rationalized his action of violating the terms of the sale with bullcrap. Price gouged as well, charging double its regular price. It was also an item that someone else had already opened and returned. Some vendors are dirty and can't be trusted. Go elsewhere. read more

I have rented a few small items from them over the years and they are OK in general. You just need to carefully inspect the tool for missing pieces, or pieces about to fall off etc. Then make sure it performs perfectly before accepting it. There is a "damage waiver" that you are paying for so don't let them say you owe more for some perceived "damage" when you turn it in. I'm glad they are still there doing business but you do really have to pay close attention or you could get screwed. read more

We shopped around the entire San Fernando Valley for a small 3"-4" diameter wood chipper machine to shred up the branches from our backyard tree. Many of the rental place don't carry that size and have an huge size (6" dia+ - too big and too much $$). So I found this place with 3"-4" wood chipper. The rental sale ladies there were very friendly and professional (that's why I rated them two stars instead of one.) We rent one for on day and towed it home. Upon this machine, we tried to feed the branches but it didn't take and shred them. Tried to force the branches into it and it finally shred but very little... we called the rental office and complained that the machine doesn't work well. They asked us to bring it back to the office. Oh great! As we brought it there the service men check it out and found the wood chipper blades were very, very dull and rounded instead of razor sharp. They apologized and asked us if we can wait while they service the blades. We opted to cancel out. They accepted it. We wasted our good day on renting a bad machine for nothing. Recommendation: Before renting out their machine, check and make sure they're sharp and properly maintained right there on their premise. read more

Not only did Ada not follow through with a finalized rental so the gear NEVER showed up but the General Manager Doug wrote it off and claimed a missing piece and charge MORE Than what was owed. This company is a rip off that does not intent to have good customer service. We had a tree cut down on our property, and arranged ahead of time to have the tree trimmer pick up a chipper at Richardson's. When the trimmer got there, the equipment was not ready as promised; it was broken. The trimmer spent two hours fixing it (he charged me $200 for the extra time it took to fix the chipper-so I'm ticked off at him as well). Because I paid someone to fix their equipment, I asked Richardson if they would either lower the price of the rental or give me a credit on a future rental. They said no. I refilled my 5 gallon propane tank for $14. They charge $1.50 for using a credit card (a bit much, if you ask me). An employee filled the tank for me and there was no wait. I really liked the fact that I was in and out in no time. Plenty of parking available. read more

Awful service and Bad attitude !!! They couldn't rent to me since my ID had a PO Box on it. So I asked them that generally the credit card which in my case was an American Express Business Gold and ID need to match, what's with the physical address issue ?? They couldn't really answer the question .. So I pulled out my business card that had my name , business name and Address on it ... Sandy and older and grouchy older woman comes by looks at my docs and ignores the fact that I'm standing right in front of her and tells the older heavy set man supposedly helping me that he's got "nothing on me"... Which I later understood to be that I'm not trust worthy enough to rent !! Really ?? You fools called sales people ... Oh and then they went on to say that they could rent to me if they take a large security deposit ... So I asked how large ... $3,000 large ... As they explained to be the cost of the machinery ... They were literally laughing in my face .... I tried to reason with these buffoons but it was obvious that they were convinced that the PO box on my ID meant I was a thief ... I also asked what good an address would be to them if I was no longer there or the address was outdated .... Didn't have an answer to that either .... Horrible service and attitude !!! Rented a 12' stakebed truck with a lift gate. Was told by other truck rental companies no such vehicle was available. Found it with A.O. Richardson. The truck was a godsend; exactly what I needed and it worked great!! On top of that the customer service was phenomenal from start to finish! These guys are the best place in the Glendale/Hollywood area to rent equipment. I've taken out jackhammers, demolition hammers, concrete saws and hydrolic splitters. All top rate, well maintained tools. The prices are really fair too. I pay about the same price Home Despot charges for a four hour rental at Richardson for a 24 hour rental. "Your patronage is not taken for granted" says the sign as you leave their "service" desk. I beg to differ, and Im pretty sure that statement was written in 1952. My patronage was certainly not welcomed, nor was I treated like a client, or a human being for that matter. Walked in there at about 8am. An angry, bitter old lady (Sandy), acknowledged me. Wait! I digress. She acknowledged me after nearly 5 minutes of standing there with absolutely not a soul in sight-not a single other customer. Then I get this creepy "who is this guy tresspassing on our property" look from this Sandy person and some other Asian woman peering up from her glasses. "id like to rent the chainsaw I called about a few minutes ago", i said. She replied, "Do you want to rent it or see it?" REALLY? Of course Id like to see it. "Go stand out side and someone will be with you soon". Seriousely? GO stand outside? What kind of verbage is that? Outside now. 15 minutes. Workers passing by, talking, playing on smartphones. "Im waiting to see the chainsaw", I said. "Were busy, just wait". Im losing my cool at this point. Walked back in, "Id like to speak to someone other than a secretary", I said. "Oh, you still havent seen the chain saw?" *(eeehhh....yea I have, im just here getting a tan and a backrub), dumb, ignorant, self loving old fool of a lady. finally, nearly 1/2 hour of being ignored, ordered around, and taken for an idiot, I did the paper work. "Whats this charge is see, EPP, for $16?" She replied, uh, um, and before she made something up, I said "Oh, thats right, its the environmental, protection fee". "oh yeah", she said, "thats it". Needless to say, I had already read the contract and it was the equipment protection plan. Really, yelpers? Equipment was satisfactory. And it was only after I got the paperwork done when Dan, had a few words with me on the operation which I appreciated. Thank you Dan. And as for the workers, well it wasn't until they found out who I was that they actually acknowledged me and started to talk and the sort. Domingo and Martin: DO NOT judge the person there wanting to rent equipment just because you havent seen them before. You never know who is in front of you. Stay away at all costs. Scam shop. I wanted a basic 2k generator. The older gentleman behind the counter ended up renting a 3k (after lots of questions and machinations) to me. I didn't realize until they pulled out this large generator that I didn't need. I'm using it for a blender for Petes sake. Anyway, they took a $350 deposit and of course, when I asked for refund, I would get the money back in 3-5 days. So, I went to Skye Rentals and they had a 2k for $65 - for the entire weekend!!!!! you may not think an equipment rental place is that interesting....... but if you are doing renovations or construction of any sort, this is the place to get equipment. i've needed ridiculous things - pool pumps, blanket wrap, dehumidifiers, jackammers, powerwashers, scaffolding and more. and they have it all. but what's actually the nicest part here is the staff are exceedingly concerned about what you need and making sure you get the right stuff for the right job. they are patient, very knowledgeable and attentive. they are just about the only thing that makes the stress and hassle of construction a little less painful. extremely knowledgeable, friendly and professional. really decent rates too. you would never want to buy this equipment, but it is for rent at exceedingly reasonable rates......... read more

This place is the worst.. rented a mini excavator.. when I went in there the lady was very helpful.. but when I called to confirm my order the man on the phone was asshole.. then he said he was going to get me in touch with the lady who started the transaction.. I waited 4 hours and she never called me back then I finally called again and someone finally help me finish the transaction.. I reacted the excavator on a Wednesday for one day.. then called Thursday to say I was done and could they please come and pick it up.. the guy again answer the phone and was a Dick on the phone he cancel the order and told me they would be there either Thursday afternoon or lasted Friday to pick up the machine.. I waited and waited and they never came.. Called on Saturday to see what happen and they try to tell me that they had no dispatcher to pick it up and I Told then I was going to call my credit card company and dispute the transaction until they picked up their suddenly they had someone to pick it up.. from what I gather if you rent from them be prepare to have your house use as their own personal storage unit..wish I could give them a 0 star read more

disappointing. i wish i could say it all worked out great, but that's not the case. we rented a 30 ton hydraulic splitter..we planned this for about a month in advance. we had 8 people lined up to try and split so much wood. we picked up the splitter in the morning, towed it home to start splitting. the splitter really seamed to want to split, but it really didn't. we called shortly after trying, they said bring it back to check. towed it back, they made a couple of adjustments, we towed it back and it still was very challenged to do anything. they kept saying we've never had a problem. well, we did. wasted a full day of many people's time. very disappointing. i run a business, i would have offered a no charge, or at least, try it another day for free, or a very discounted rate. not only do i want to keep my customers happy, but i want them to tell all their friends that this was the best they ever had. so disappointing, what a waste of time and energy. Doug was very nice, but that and $2.50 would get one of us on a subway. so disappointing! read more
