My wife picked up a $75 basket that was so small and lifeless I could not believe it. It's called presentation guys come on! For $75 I expect a BIG basket with tons of stuff. and their gift basket options started at $25! Gee, I bet the $25 one you could put in your pocket! What she was given was a joke. Great selection of cheeses and very helpful staff. I went in there looking for cheeses and beers from Maine to bring back to NY and the staff was helpful in showing and allowing me to taste the cheeses before I bought them. I'm looking forward to sharing with friends. I grabbed a couple of Maine beers that I have never tried before and they were happy to wrap them up for me so I could pack them in my suitcase! I'm looking forward to trying the mysterious Friars beer they get every Friday from the friars down the street and around the corner when I'm back over Christmas! read more

This review is long overdue, as the wife and I stopped in here by a chance occurrence just before Christmas last year. We had flown to Bangor so that we could save a boat load of money instead of flying to Canada directly. It's pretty bad when you can pay to fly, rent a car for like 5 days and get a hotel for a night and still come out ahead. We still had to drive to our final destination, in this case once through a snow storm and back again in an ice storm. After our long icy drive, we had reservations at a restaurant next door, so we really lucked out walking into Bangor Wine and Cheese a few minutes before they were closing for the night. The staff was nice to accommodate us in the little time that we had, but I am sure that they were happy with the amount of money that we spent in our short time there. Overall great selection of beer, local and imported, fresh bread, fancy cheeses, oils and balsamic vinegars. The couple of bottles of Cantillion that I bought alone caused me to cash in all my accumulated karma chips that I had from agreeing to travel to Canada during a Winter wonderland to visit family. As the wife said all during that evening, haven't we suffered enough already, let's enjoy our icy night in Bangor and celebrate our survival of yet another Canadian Winter ordeal. read more

Love the selection of wines & beers. The cheeses, meats, and breads make this one of my favorite places to shop in Bangor. The atmosphere is relaxing and I love trying out the Fiore olive oil and balsamic selections. My one caveat, is that some of the staff seem to make you feel as though you don't belong shopping in their store. My friends and I aren't the most upscale bunch of people, but we never leave without buying a few things, and we should be treated just like any other customer would be, whether we appear to be able to afford the finest or not. read more

You can't get much better than this place! The staff must have really taken the Yelp comments seriously because the past few times I've been they have been outstanding and always with a smile! The cheese platters are divine, always fresh and delightful. They have an incredible selection of wine, as well as beer, that is both well-rounded and varied. The diversified wine selection ensures that every pallet will be accommodated, while for regulars there is still always room for excitement! I was so impressed when I came in last time and saw that they carry The Oyster, a sustainably-grown, vegan Sauvignon Blanc with a great cause behind it. Great selection, but quite unfriendly staff. I was looking for a wine that assured no gluten cross-contamination in the refining and aging process (many aging barrels use wheat paste, and many vineyards use wheat gluten as part of the clarifying process). The attendant was rude when I tried to explain this to her, and subsequently gave me difficulty about my purchase at the checkout counter. This being said, they have a wonderful selection of craft beer and wine in addition to a wide selection of cheeses and oils/dressings (both local and imported). read more

I went here for a wine tasting that they put on every month a couple weeks ago. It is a beautifully set up location. The have an amazing variety of wine and beer. Baxter brewing company was there showcasing their beer as well. Between the Baxter beers and the various wines that were being displayed, I was very impressed. I ended up buying a couple bottles of wine. I also may be joining the Wine Club that the offer which gives you a two bottles of wine each month that they are featuring. Look forward to going there again! read more
