What didn't go well!?! Fresh from the airport, on a rainy day driving from Bangor to Bar Harbor for a weekend trip - we happened to pass this spot and decided to turn around and come back for our first Maine lobster roll of the trip. Didn't realize it had just opened that day - there were only two other people inside and it was very quiet. Still, staff were super friendly and welcoming. There is a fresh fish market area and the restaurant area. The fish market looked closed to us. The two people eating inside happened to be locals - who said they come at least once a week and purchase whole lobsters (we saw them come out on the tray) at market price (which was about $12/lb that day) and have them cook/boil them for $2. My husband asked to do the same and he ended up with an almost two pound lobster for $22 - unheard of for us as lobster is extremely expensive and not fresh. This one was caught like hours before he ate it. A bit challenging for him to eat - ha - as we aren't experts. But, he loved it. I chose to go with the roll and fries with an Arnold palmer with house-made lemonade. Sooo good! Best lobster I've ever had. We loved this place. Hands down the best lobster roll of my life. Delish. If you are anywhere nearby - stop here asap. read more

Super friendly and lovely staff - great place to start our lobster roll tour of the area! We ordered up at the window and chose to sit inside, but the outdoor options looked so nice as well. I had the hot lobster roll which came with fries and two dipping sauces (ketchup and a spicy tangy mixture). The roll was warm and buttery. We have been here probably 15 times...this is the real deal and best place! Everything and I mean everything is fabulois! Hubby doesn't eat seafood but they have lots of options... it is really really fabulous. Tonight it's pretty late 7:00 they close at 8:00 and I wanted a lobster grilled cheese which is by far from me the best around but they had sold out of all of their lobster... so I had a haddock fish and chips. Lobster roll was decent not overly large. It was over priced at $29 and the service was painfully slow. We had to ask twice for water and she seemed interested. Turns out the price for onion rings, and a bag of potato chips is the same however, you only got about eight onion rings. The layout of the bar and restaurant is very nonsensical. We stopped by Jones when we were on our way from Bangor to Hancock. I missed an opportunity to try Dorr and McLaughlins lobster rolls and as we were driving we spotted Jones. $17 is worth it. The bread was perfectly toasted and buttery and it was packed with the most flavorful and dressed lobster. I'm not sure if these is too much mayonnaise for some people, but this was literally the best lobster roll I had the entire trip. It didn't feel heavy, I felt like I could've had three more. There was no weird shredded iceberg lettuce. I tried to chase this lobster roll high at Bar Harbor Lobster Company and was disappointed. Come try Jones!! Also the lady who rung me up was super sweet! I happened to stop by this place during my trip to Arcadia NP, on October 15, 2022. They have such a spectacular fall color in their backyards that I don't remember what I ate. The staffs were very friendly. I was disappointed by what Arcadia NP offered. It was not quite my style. I would definitely come again to this place for the fall color. read more

Sooooo Disappointing... The restaurant was empty, except for my wife and I when we came in. I opened the door and asked if they were open, and I was told that they were, with a negative attitude... (We should have walked away then!) The food was mediocre at best. Their POS was either low quality or they didn't know how to input an order, because it took way to long just to punch it in. (It took 2 of them to do so!) The cook was nice, but the other 2 ladies working there didn't care about us or providing even reasonable service. The restaurant was clean, but had no ambiance at all. Heading to Acadia national park and passed by Jones lobster pound. What a great find. We had a lobster and 1/4lb crabmeat. Our first lobster experience entering Maine. Great price at $17 a lobster roll and $14 pure crabmeat. Location only sells lobster roll everything else is uncooked seafood. No frill location but has the most freshest and delicious lobster roll. Just had a crab roll basket, a fish and chips basket, and a farm fresh hamburger. Everything was cooked to order and super fresh. The staff were very friendly. Would go again for sure! Note to staff. The hamburger ended up being provided as a cheeseburger which normally would be just fine however my guest was lactose intolerant so he was disappointed with this error. We took it to camp so there was no way to correct it. The farm fresh burger was a very good burger otherwise So if you have non-seafood folks with you, go for the burger!! read more

Stopped in with my mom on our way to Mt. Desert Island since it was right off the road. The food part of Jones opened literally a few days ago, so the place is clean and new but lacking a little character I suppose. We both got the lobster roll, which was pretty traditional, in that it was in a mayo sauce, but it was super light and had some other spices (probably Old Bay) that complimented the delicate lobster super well. The perfectly toasted bun wrapped everything up into a great afternoon snack. I got mine with a side of potato salad that was pretty good, but only if you can tolerate a super creamy, thick sauce on it. I'd recommend just getting a side of fries, though, because they were hot, crispy, and absolutely delicious. Definitely worth a stop for a quick snack or lunch if you're driving by it. read more

Super friendly people, but, the food was mediocre. We got two hot buttered lobster rolls and they were luke warm. The portions were a bit small for 17 bucks BUT the worst part was that there were some pieces that did not appear to have the taste or texture of lobster. We could be wrong, but some of the pieces looked tasted a lot like seafood extender (also called surimi or imitation crab). Compared to the other pieces, I just couldn't figure it out. Also, each meal came with a side of fries, which was also a bit small in portion size. If you're in the mood for nice friendly service and a quick bite, give 'em a try, I guess. I ordered a fried fish platter here. The place was tidy and clean, and the food quality was good. However I was very disappointed in the portion size for the money. I left still hungry. They claim to have the best lobster roll in town, but there is little competition in Holden, so that is an underwhelming claim. There are better choices for seafood in the area. Great place - one of those places only locals know where the food is good. I got the fried oysters and Mayo lobster rolls, both of which was really good. I HIGHLY recommend the fried oysters. The service was really nice too- kind and friendly staff as well as fast service.
