Been wanting to try ice cream here and this Saturday was warm enough for it. This restaurant is close to Lizard Thicket in Florence. Our order was 2 chicken gyro, fried zucchini, 1 strawberry sundae, 1 baklava sundae. First off you need to bring a big appetite I only brought a medium one so it was more food than needed. The fried zucchini at $7.50 was a lot more than both of us could eat. This could make a good party appetizer, included ranch dipping sauce. The chicken gyro were excellent I haven't had one that good in long time, worth price and large, a meal itself. I realize baklava is not my dessert of choice but some ppl might enjoy. The sundae ice cream was ok not really memorable IMO. Included whipped cream & cherry. Her sundae was also just okay, worth coming back to sample actual ice cream flavors and try cones in summertime. Absolutely love Sundae House. It's a Florence favorite. When you go there please don't think this is like going to McDonald's. Service here is great just keep in mind that food here is made to order. I love to frequent this establishment. I recently visited and had afried shrimp basket, which includes fries. They were delicious. Another time, I had a hot dog with fries (fries are not included). This time, my hog dog with chili, onions, and mustard would have tasted better if my wiener was warmed up enough. I thought maybe it was the cold onions was the cause of it....but I took a bite of the wiener only and the wiener was cold. I am sure the customers will wait until the wiener is heated. read more

Visited the Sundae House on my way to Myrtle Beach and there was a good sized line in the drive thru at about 6:30 on a Wednesday night. When I visited, it was in the midst of the Coronavirus outbreak with high case numbers in South Carolina so I surprised when no one inside the restaurant was wearing a mask. Not great. I got two hot dogs (a chili cheese dog and a carolina dog), an order of onion strings, and a clarinet to drink. The dogs were good; big thick hot dogs with flavorful chili. The cheese in this case is good ole slices of American that are well melted. The order of onion straws was a really healthy portion. There was ketchup underneath the foil which I didn't realize so I walked up and use the ketchup they had available in the seating area. The clarinet was delicious. Very sweet, cherry lemonade basically. Sold almost exclusively around the Florence, SC area. All in all, a tasty place. I'd definitely be interested in trying more of their menu if I'm passing through the area again. read more

I'm very disappointed. Sundae House has been my go to for the best salads (I also enjoy fish sandwich, fries and seafood basket). I haven't had a salad for a couple of months. My last salad wasn't the best, but it was nothing major to complain about. The chicken salad was a little off, but everything was still good. I got a salad tonight...there was too much water at the bottom of the salad, the bell peppers had seeds on it, the platter was not full like it use to be. Pita chips was scarce on the salad. Giving 3 stars because the food is good but the service is complete garbage. The two girls upfront just don't care about what they charge you or what you receive. Great ice cream shop- best place to get ice cream in Florence, especially soft serve. We always got the chocolate dipped ice cream cones until we discovered the Baklava Sundae. You must try the Baklava Sundae! I moved away and miss it so much! The food is pretty good too, but no one comes here for the food- you come for the ice cream and desserts. It's outside with open air seating- no inside, but you can do the drive through. I recommend sitting outside and eating your ice cream as it melts quickly and could make a mess in the car. read more

Hit the spot! I had a large soft serve vanilla cone with French fries. Karen had a two scoop chocolate and vanilla regular ice cream in a dish. Karen said that the chocolate tasted very chocolaty. A rich taste. The soft ice cream in my cone was as good as it gets. Sweet, creamy and made with quality ingredients. A unique taste and blend that was different from the national chains. Their own taste. My French fries were five star. As good as it gets. The fries were hot, out of the frier. Have had dozens of different French fries from ice cream stands. This was one of the best ever. We ordered at a window and ate outside in a covered area at a confortable table. There is also a drive through. No inside area there. Greek music was played over the speaker. Strange and unique. There were many Greek items on the menu. We only went there for an afternoon snack. Got our son a hot fudge sundae. I don't know if they were out of soft serve or it just came with hand scooped ice cream. Either way it was an adequate amount of hot fudge and ice cream. Thought it was a little steep for $6. Most of the menu seemed high but that's about everywhere these days. Maybe I'd try something else like a sandwich or something. I don't know. Yum! What a pleasant surprise! Stopped by for a quick lunch on our way through town, and tried the Greek salad (crisp, cold, and colorful), fries (great flavor), grilled chicken gyro (well seasoned chicken and refreshing tzatziki), and milkshakes. Everything was tasty and fresh. Service was fast and friendly too. Only downside was that there is only (covered) outdoor seating available, and the one bathroom is behind the building after you walk through the drive through lanes - a little dangerous with kids. I've been here several times for their iconic chocolate covered ice cream, but I never really considered this place for real food until today. My mother wanted their fried zucchini so Sundae House it was. I personally don't like fried zucchini but my mother and father raved about it like it was gourmet. I tried the grilled shrimp dinner with French fries and a house salad. I will say that I really enjoyed the salad with the homemade house dressing and the grilled shrimp; however, the fries were just mediocre. Not bad but not extraordinary either. OMG. Guilty pleasure and comfort food, take me away. I walked into this place because I pass it on a daily basis and curiosity finally won out. I'm glad that it did. I technically arrived about 10 minutes after they were closing but they took my order anyway. Major points for that. They also took the order of another customer who walked up after I did. They love their customers. This is a no frills take-out or you can sit at a table in the covered picnic area. It has character for days. Hot dogs, burgers, gyros and milkshakes are the standard fare here. Let me give them a BIG shout out for using Nathan's Hot Dogs. Are the hot dogs delicious? Yes. I ate two and they were worth the gym time to run them off. Or if you're like my friend Cody, you can throw them up later. You decide. There is no downside to this place. This is not fine dining but it is get your feed on at its best. I plan to work my way through the menu. This is what local take-out was before national chains ruined it. I had flashbacks to church cookouts and when I ate here. The chocolate milkshake far exceeds anything that you will get in the drive through at any chain restaurant. I've only been one other time than going today and honestly it makes me not want to go back..I went to the pick up window not knowing it was only for pre-paid orders and those who are in the drive thru. The last time i walked up and saw the sign through the window that said pick up orders only, so i got into that line today to pick up my call in order as i had my 2 month old child with me. She lady was very rude with saying "next time go to the other side" while she slammed the drive thru window! She didn't even give me a chance to talk. I get people have bad days but i honestly didn't know that line i was in was for just pre-paid orders etc. she could have been a little nicer considering it was a honest mistake. The absolute worse experience! I have been going to Sundae house since I was a little girl but I will never grace that establishment again. I ordered a hot fudge sundae that is listed at $5.45 plus tax, however, I was charged $8.25 plus tax for a sundae that is only one bite bigger than a Mcdonalds $1.00 hot fudge. As if that was not enough for one of the most small and basic ice creams available they charged an additional.69 cent to use my card...then tried to blame my bank. So 9 bucks for a little hot fudge sunday? WOW!!! When inquired about the price different I was treated very rude and dismissed. I inquired again this time apparently to the owners son. I was utterly appalled at his behavior and cruelty. He continued to scream and holler at me even after I got in my car. Unbelievable!!! Not to mention I could get an entire meal for the price of one small, basic hot fudge sundae. Not only is it price gouging but false advertisement. I only give 1 star as I have to. Called in to place my order. The person taking my order was extremely short with me. After picking up the order and going back to work, 2 of the orders were incorrect and had missing items.
