This cafe is located on the main tourist area of Stockholm and has really cute elegant decorations that makes it seem and feel really upscale. They offer a huge variety of pastries and traditional bread as well as traditional fika (filtered coffee) and espresso drinks. They offer "yesterday bread" for 7 crowns which is a steal, and granted day old pastries might not be as good as the freshly baked ones but they were still pretty good with the specialty coffee, and they were made even better for the price point! I had a cappuccino to go with my day-old cinnamon roll and it was heaven. A great place to rest and warm up while exploring this awesome city! Tip: They will allow non-patrons to you use the restroom for 20Kr a person, which is always good to know!

Great little gem of a coffee shop/bakery near the old town square, royal palace, and Nobel Prize Museum! It's also the oldest cafe in Stockholm. I found this place by complete accident. I spent the late afternoon going to the Nobel Prize Museum. It was a pretty chilly late December day and all I really wanted was a cup of coffee and Princess Cake. This place is cozy and the staff are friendly. They speak English (as do most ppl in Sweden). You order at the counter and then they give you a coffee mug for self-serve coffee (free refills). And also self serve water. Overall, a great little place to relax after being in old town!

The best hot chocolate in town and you can get a cup of whipped cream with it!!! We sat outside. You get unlimited coffee/tea refills. You serve yourself. Very cute atmosphere inside. Had the princess cake....Delish. Great people watching. You order at counter and they deliver if you order a meal. Otherwise you take from counter yourself. No wifi! This is a must visit!!!!!!!! They close earlier than posted 9:30pm.

Coffee and raspberry cake for £6.50

Gamla Stan is packed to the rafters with coffee shops, restaurants and bars, so it was a hard thing to pick one from the bunch for a quick refuelling stop. Having wandered around Riddarholmen and Storget, I hadn't quite found anywhere that caught my eye until stumbling into Jarntorget, a much smaller square at the foot of Gamla Stan, near the bridges over to Sodermalm. Sundbergs Konditori looked like the most significant café in the square, so I popped in to see what the offering was like. I was nearly put off immediately by the attitude of the lady behind the counter, who was a bit harsh in her answers to the people ahead of me in the queue, pointing towards the coffee refill as if it was blindingly obvious to anyone where it was. She wasn't much warmer to me when I came to make my order for a coffee and a raspberry cream cake - it was all a bit brusque and unfriendly. But to be fair, she was on her own at the time and may have been for some time before I arrived. The order placed, I was able to quickly find an outside table and enjoy a bit of people watching while I scoffed the cake, which was delicious. For some reason, I decided against going back in for a coffee refill. The coffee and cake worked out at £6.50 which is at the upper end of what you might want to pay. There is only one toilet for customers, so time your use of that.

The oldest pastry shop in Stockholm, founded in 1785. We liked very much this place, very nice decor. We enjoyed the ver good pastries and hot chocolate beuverages with cream on top.

    Cute on the outside!

I love this place. It was our favorite place in Stockholm. We had breakfast there once and afternoon snack. We wanted to go back before our plane left, but they weren't open yet. We just have to come back! I think this is the best place to have hot chocolate, omelette, and cake (yes even for breakfast). I highly recommend this place!

    This place gets crowded fast!

Oldest confectionery in Sweden! I like how they kept the interior of the place intact, very historical. Sandwiches and pastries are pretty good. It's one of those tourist hot spots you just have to go to, when you are in Gamla Stan. Outdoor seating available during the summer. Free refillables for house coffee.

I can't tell if the multitude of American reviews are because 1) Petrus has managed to attract tourists; 2) these particular Americans have taste; 3) Swedish people don't really use Yelp; or 4) some combination thereof. Needless to say, Petrus was recommended by some other friends who had previously visited Stockholm as the go-to for buns. It is well worth the trip. As many have noted, the storefront is small and tucked away off of a fairly high traffic pedestrian thorough fare. Given how many people are obsessed with staring into their phones, surely following google maps to the address won't be tough, but I've learned to lower my expectations of people over time. ANYWAY, I was pleased to stop into a coffee shop that wasn't Espresso House or Fabrique, the latter of which I'm lucky enough to enjoy at home. I was able to grab a seat by the door which gave an interior view (through a window) to their bakery which occupies the other space on the first floor of their building. Despite the baking appearing done for the day at that time, it was neat to see the machinery behind the delectable treats we were having. Coffee was straightforward and lacking in pretension, as you served yourself from the drip coffee thermos in the restaurant. As many have suggested, I'm sure the kanelbulle would have been as tasty as the kardamummabulle and "breakfast bun" (a slightly sweet combo of various nuts and seeds) I had. Everything was quick, pleasant, and tasty, just as a coffee shop / fika place should be; in a quiet, residential area which was relaxing; and a perfect beginning to get the day jump started.

This little spot reminded me a bit of the 24/7 diners back home in New Jersey. Kind of just a clean, no-frills place to grab a decent bite and a coffee. They have glass cases full of the most delicious looking pastries in the front by the cash register, just like diners do. My husband and I had already eaten so we just got a bunch of pastries to take back to our room. Boy they had a rather stunning variety. My personal favorite look like horseshoes that are encrusted with sliced almonds and covered in honey. Then the two ends of the horseshoe are dipped in chocolate. I have no idea what they are called. But holy Charlie Bucket, go get yourself one or three. I could've been very happy with a cup of coffee and one of those for breakfast a lot of mornings. One caution: the baked goods here are VERY sweet. They use a lot of honey and other gooey sweet sticky stuff in their baking. It's delicious. But if you need to watch your sugar intake like I do, be warned. Service was fine... not friendly and not unfriendly.

Located on a largely residential street not far from the Metro Station and open seven-to-seven on Weekdays with slightly shorter hours on weekends, at least one Baker still present approaching 16h00 and presumably working on items for the next day, it was after browsing still-full shelves that six items were selected, the Café upstairs offering a pleasant place to dine as the majority of patrons filled seats outside. Using slightly different nomenclature than other Konditori around Stockholm, the Wienerbrod for instance dubbed Vaniljbulle thanks to the flavor of thick Custard inside its fluffy golden coils, it was with Princess Cake dressed pretty in Pink that one of the city's best slices was found, at least five separate layers including Cream and Raspberry Compote contributing to Pound Cake that was more buttery than others but still surprisingly light. Not about to pass on the classic Fika focused on throughout nine days in Sweden, Åsö's Cardamom Bun more leavened than others and thus open beneath the sugared top with a nice stretch to the Dough, it was with a dual layer of the same Raspberry Jam tasted earlier that a Katalan Tart shined while the Tosca also performed admirably, the now-predictable Chokladbol in this instance occurring by way of a "Lillebror" that replaced with Pearl Sugar around the Chocolate and Oat core.

Fine fine Nordic eating…read more * * * This is a bakery/cafe that covers the four basic food groups: 1) Bread 2) Pastry 3) Coffee 4) Lunch Five stars on all of the above. * * * Recipes here are standard Swedish. Where they make their mark is in execution. Let's start with the drip coffee. You know how in "Pulp Fiction" and "Twin Peaks" a running gag is Coffee that is so good, everyone stops everything they are doing to comment on how good the coffee is? Aso's drip coffee could be that amazing stop-everything coffee. My only regret is that I did not have Kyle MacLachlan or Harvey Keitel with me to enjoy a cup. * * * Lunch was Raksmorgas, a standard Swedish dish of shrimp, fresh dill, lemon, tomatoes and homemade mayonnaise on thinly sliced rye bread. Aso's adds a hard-boiled egg to the proceedings. What was so good about this? Just about everything. The shrimp were small but packed with flavor. Imagine the flavor intensity of a salami, but in small cold shrimp. Fresh dill is always wonderful. Fresh dill can make cardboard taste good. The hard boiled eggs were perfectly timed. Bright golden moist-crumbly yellow yolks. Most restaurants give you over-boiled rubbery yellow-green yolks. Net of cooking time, the eggs themselves were a lot better than the old commercial refrigerator eggs we get in the United States. I suspect these were fresh eggs. The decadent treat was the rye bread on the bottom. This covered with homemade mayonnaise. The difference between homemade mayonnaise and jar mayonnaise is like the difference between a real kiss and a picture of a kiss. The mayonnaise drips into the rye bread. So do the flavor leavings of the shrimp and the egg and the tomato. The result? Bread to die for. Sopping up the good stuff from your meal with bread is always good. Sopping up the good stuff from your meal with superior Swedish rye bread is over the top excellent. * * * How is the bakery as a bakery? Love of the life got a walnut bread with her salad that was first rate. It was stick to your ribs stuff. One roll's worth of walnut bread and you were fed for a week. And totally walnutted to boot. On the dessert side, they do have decadent blow-all-the-calories desserts. But many Swedish pastries are in the same family with English scones. These are meant to be a snack by themselves. Substantial. Restrained. Subtle but worthwhile flavor. I had a Katalan which is two thin layers of lingonberry filling between three layers of substantial pie crust. Katalan means "from Catalonia" and naturally there is nothing more Spanish than lingonberries. (Cough cough). Not a good dessert choice after a heavy meal, but it would have been perfect with coffee at four in the afternoon. * * * Overall, an absolutely fine establishment. And even better if your world stops spinning for good coffee.
