if I could give this bar a negative review I would I don't even do I made an account just to tell you how bad this bar was. They were racist, rude and right to our said the kitchen was closed while they I could hear them cooking and they couldn't tell me what had or anything. They had nothing to tell me and it's fine if they don't have a drink menu, but she was being very were gonna her head. Fun, locals bar in Surfside with good food, fair prices, and friendly vibes. Parking could be problematic during the peak season. There's a couple lines of 2 hour parking spots. We came in on Christmas Day and they were slammed! It was a really fun and laid back environment with lots of patrons. The bar is huge, tons of tables and a really nice patio area. Our waitress(es) were nice but not over the top, they were really busy! Good and quick service though, especially for drinks. I had a Bloody Mary and it was good! Particularly for the price ($6!). I also ordered the Reuben. The menu self proclaims it as the best on the beach, I can't necessarily confirm nor deny but it was a solid sandwich with great flavor. I also really liked their tater tots, they were more like medallions or the hash browns at Chick-fil-A, but loved them! Other items ordered at the table: Black & Bleu burger and Grilled Cheese. Came to this restaurant, which was the last stop of a traveling party bus birthday trip. It is apparently a locals place located off Main Street in Surfside Beach area. It has a country bar atmosphere. The staff was friendly, the beer cold (no draft available) and the food was OK. We had the fish dinner and the Sundown chicken (?). Both needed some spices to flavor it up. The place was busy, so others obviously have a different opinion! read more

Good ambiance, lots of locals, and a nice live band. Service was good up until it was time to get the check, that took a long time for no apparent reason. We arrived at 12:00 lunch time. The place was nearly empty, which should have been our first clue. Bartender said we could sit anywhere. The waitress took about 20 minutes to get to us and said she had been taking reservations on the phone. We asked for drinks and water. She didn't look very happy. She brought our drinks and took our orders. A different waitress brought out our food and she had a much better attitude. At the end of the meal, my husband asked the first waitress if they gave military discounts and she acted perturbed that he asked and said no. Tony and I were out bar hopping on my birthday trip in SC and we stopped in Surfside Beach at this little bar mainly because of the WVU flag flying outside We parked on the street and went inside Tony ordered his PBR and I got a coca cola. I asked the bartender if the owner was from West Virginia since all the inside motif was either WVU or Marshall...and WV license plates and state emblems She said yeah Dave Litton from Nitro. I said Cool my hubby here is a Nitro graduate and she just walked off. Never offered to introduce us to the owner. Which was rude and NOT WV FRIENDLY!!! We paid our $8 bucks and left. They offer food but we were turned off by bartender rudeness... don't recommend and definitely NOT going back there again!!! read more

We have spent two Saturday evenings at Sundown Sports Pub and will likely spend many more. The ambiance is much like other bars, except that the acoustics are a little better than average. The place was packed with people who were talking with others at their table. Still we managed to do the same without shouting. I wear hearing aids and tend to avoid loud and reverberant environments. I didn't mind being at Sundown. The room is equipped with big screen TVs, more in number than I cared to count. At any given moment I could watch football, basket ball, a horse race or golf. I thought it would be a problem when a duo of performing artists set up to play. The singer/song writers Rick and Lisa duo were not any louder than they needed to be and their music is great. The kind that makes you want to get on the dance floor, or at least tap your feet. My wife and I ordered burgers w/o the buns. She had a salad and I had onion rings. The food arrived in a reasonable time and was delicious. She had two mixed drinks, which she described as perfectly mixed. I had a couple of beers. Our tab was just under $50. Our server was Deb. She did an excellent job and was very friendly, in spite of being very busy. Parking wasn't a problem, but might be during a Saturday night in peak season. We came here for a breakfast one day on vacation, and it's exactly what you expect it to be- a dark bar with great breakfast food and strong drinks. Our waitress was very kind and kept up with our requests pretty well even though I know they are understaffed. I loved their corn beef hash special, as it was one of the best ones I have had. I sat down near the kitchen where the food was coming out and watched a couple waitresses touch almost every hamburger bun that came out of there to lift it up and see what was on the bun. I have not eaten here yet. I may in the future but for now this review is for my experience here for a night out with drinks. I've been here twice now. Its really close to my condo and also right in "downtown" Surfside. We went on two different nights. The first time was a Sunday night and the next time was a Saturday night. Two different experiences but both pleasant ones. The Sunday night we came in around 10pm. The kitchen was closed (that was fine we weren't there to eat) and there wasn't really anyone there. There was a couple and a single guy at the bar and a small group outside. The outside area was quite surprising to me. From looking at this place on the outside you'd never really guess that there was this much space available for a nice looking outdoor area. There's a bar out there and nice lights and plenty of seating. It was warmish when we were there but I think I might have seen heat lamps for the cooler evenings. Our bartender Pinky was very friendly and told us all about the love at this place, how its been in business forever and how they have the best wings in the area (Now I'll have to try those...). They also serve breakfast in the mornings and yes, you can get booze too at 7am. The decor is dive bar like and full of West Virginia memorabilia. Go Mountaineers? There is a large jukebox in there playing tunes and there are pool tables and shuffle boards to play. The patrons on that particular night were remarkably friendly. So friendly that we ended up spending $10 on 6 drinks lol. Cut to the Saturday night there. The music was louder and there were a lot more people there. Kitchen was open and food was smelling yummy. I watched the trays of food go by and watched people eat too. It all looked pretty good! We just had dinner that night at Cafe Old Vienna so we were stuffed. But I really enjoyed spending time with my husband and cousins and having some drinks with the music in the background. They were never here and we wanted to show them it wasn't scary. They were impressed and plan to come back too. We will be back to try the food and I will update then but for now its a great low key place to grab drinks with those you love :-) read more

Ummmm...haha. What do I say about this place? ...well, they are totally a dive bar. They sell can beer which is rare, but I prefer it. They have a wider selection of bottled than canned beer. The service is sporadic. I've been here on days where you can't put your beer down without them offering another and I've been when you can barely get a beer. No rhyme or reason. The inside part is no smoking (awesome) and outside people smoke. They have entertainment outside (bands, karaoke, etc...) inside they have a decent number of tv's. Food wasn't bad........ the people however, at least our waitress,? are the worst around!!!!! We had the most rude waitress I've had in a long time. She got most of the orders wrong and told us "that's what you ordered" with a very rude attitude. We had one that specifically asked for no cheese on his burger and it came with cheese. And again "that's what you ordered" with more attitude. 7 of us we're eating there and the bill came all together. I asked if we could meet at the register to pay separate and we were responded with "this is a restaurant, not a diner!" And she loudly said "I need everyone's credit card" now before you assume we were a rowdy bunch, we were the complete opposite. All of us were yes ma'am and no ma'am and considerate to everything asked of us. There was no reason for the way we were treated. The cook made us eggs two ways, omelette and over easy, and you could tell that they were created by someone who had cooked thousands of eggs before.
