I first spoke with Levon on August 10th and informed him of exactly what I was looking for. Levon designed the exact system I was looking for and was available day and night to answer all of the questions we had regarding changes and updates to the system. Levon was extremely knowledgeable on the entire process and emailed us during every step of the process. Our system was installed on September 7th and would have been earlier if it wasn't for us delaying the project being out of town and not getting the documents back to Levon sooner. Overall even with the delays the system was installed less than 30 days after contacting Levon. The install was very smooth and the foreman for the install project explained the entire process that morning and what the next steps would be. Again everything that was explained was exactly how the process went to the very last detail. The solar inspection from the city was on September 16th and we received PTO on September 20th. Our system has been operating for almost two months now I don't have one complaint about except I wish I would've call Levon at Solar Shoppers from the beginning. I sent my questions directly to Levon Juni, Vice President of the company, expecting that someone in leadership would take the time to address them. His response was that he didn't have time to answer all of my questions. That response was extremely concerning to me. When you are asking a customer to commit to a 25-year agreement, I believe there should be transparency and enough time to explain the terms and address reasonable questions before expecting someone to sign. My advice to anyone considering this company: slow down, read everything, ask questions, and don't feel pressured to sign until you completely understand what you're agreeing to. If something in the contract is unclear or contradictory, get it explained in writing before moving forward. For me, the lack of clarity and the unwillingness to fully address my questions were major red flags. What I wanted ideally was a system that would automatically power our home in the event of a power failure. I initially looked at generator systems, but discovered several downsides to that technology. Generators need fuel, which could be be gasoline, diesel, or natural gas. Of these, natural gas was the most attractive, but that would require significant trenching for a new line around the house. In addition, placement of a generator was a problem, due to zoning requirements. Also, gasoline/diesel/natural gas generators have an internal combustion engine, which needs maintenance, like oil changes. The best solution for me was to have a battery backup system installed. This type of system is also known as a "power wall." Shelter recommended a 2-battery system made by FranklinWH (WH stands for Whole House). The batteries are 15 KWH each, for a total of 30 KWH. In our case, this is sufficient to power our home for 24 hours, even during the summer when we are using the central A/C. Other times of the year, 30 KWH would power everything for 48 hours or more. Since installation we have had several power failures, ranging from a few minutes to several hours. In all cases, the backup system kicked in so quickly that didn't even notice. We didn't even have to reset any clocks. When then grid power comes back online, the batteries recharge automatically. Shelter did a great job of understanding what we wanted, and provided an excellent solution. We had a very minor issue that we noticed several months later, and Shelter responded immediately to remedy the issue. I recommend Shelter Roofing and Solar without hesitation.

We started this process in February and it's December and the battery still doesn't work because they are waiting on a part. No one calls us back and there is no ETA on the part but they let the lender know the job is done so we have to start paying on a loan when the system is incomplete. It's not really about the money but more about the principle. I've been told the check will be in the mail next week a few times. Failed inspections also causing delays. Work was done on my system and installers left without turning my system breakers back on for days. I had to call back to confirm if they were left off intentionally or accidentally. Installers showed up to work without any appointment or notification, luckily I was home that day on my day off. Enter Peter from Cervus Solar who had plenty of years of solar experience but no reviews to cross reference since he just started up his business. My initial thoughts was he was a bit over priced on his initial quote. When I pulled out quotes from other companies he looked at my information and told me he would call me back. An hour or two later I received a call from him with not only a better price than the competitor but also a bigger system. At this point my only concern was credibility and reviews. To ease my concerns Peter invited me to his new office. I took him up on that offer and could tell that he was very excited for his new business venture. Upon arrival to his new office I was very impressed with his operation. Peter is also a very personable guy so he's very easy to talk to. Once I was sold on his character, I took a leap of faith and booked his service for solar panel installation. During the permit process Peter stood on top of my city government to expedite the permits to the best of his abilities. I even contacted our cities permit group multiple times. Once permits and plans were approved, Peter swiftly scheduled solar installation within a week. The installation went smoothly and the quality of work is top notch. Turns out the marketing company jobs out to various subcontractors and it was the sub that was non responsive. I waited over six months from the time I signed the contract and provided a deposit and all they had to show was a guy coming out to work on a layout plan. Nothing ever submitted for permits. Long story short I had to contact their bond company to get them to respond and give me my deposit back. Peter and Cervus, on the other hand, were prompt, professional, and did everything they said they would, when they said they would do it. Peter was ahead of the game with permits and a pleasure to work with, as were all the installation staff. They were slightly higher in price than the first company but absolutely worth the stress-free job. I would certainly recommend Cervus.
