Sunflower Cafe and Bakery is truly one of my favorite (and most memorable) dining experiences over the last 2.5 years!! I cannot rave enough about this establishment ...The food is amazing, always so fresh and made-to-order! The sourdough bread is so incredibly crusty and delicious, coming from my favorite Portuguese place in Farmingville. My husband said the French onion soup was the best he's ever had....Not to overlook the ambience, which is so welcoming and relaxing. This truly adds a nice touch to the overall dining experience. Stace and her daughter Katherine add so much love and life to this beautiful restaurant. We celebrated my sister's milestone birthday there last September in a cozy private room upstairs. It was beyond spectacular from beginning to end. We continue to return to Sunflower Cafe and Bakery quite often, and always have such a pleasant and warm experience! They also offer a wonderful weekend brunch menu on Sunday's with truly creative and delicious entrées. I believe they are approaching their 3 year anniversary in November, and it's not surprising that they are able to thrive and grow in such a tough economic environment. Run, don't walk to this INCREDIBLE restaurant. It's always such an amazing time for us both. Desserts are also so scrumptious as well, with the option to take home treats from the small bakery area if desired! The bad and the good. It was very cold, we spoke up and they made the AC a comfortable temp. Arrived at 5:00 & sat immediately. From time of seating to receiving entrees took an hour. The seats are wooden and some found them uncomfortable. The food was good. The striped bass was really tasty. The spinach was delicious with a hint of garlic. The au poivre sauce was a little too salty (2 people stated) but not inedible. If you are the type that orders salads or appetizers then you might be ok with a long wait. Went for lunch on a Friday afternoon. The restaurant has maybe 15 tables and they had one server for the entire room. She appeared totally stressed and grimaced at my 93 year old mom who was unable to make a quick choice from the menu. We can't totally fault the server but it was clear she was not enjoying her job on this day. That took a bit of the shine off of our get together. On the other hand, the food was very good! We were there for almost three hours and would have preferred to leave after two. Management: Please hire more staff! and also, consider putting cushions on the hard wood chairs. This restaurant is in a nice location and I would frequent it more if I knew a lunch wouldn't take three hours. Although I'm not much into the French cuisine, I still enjoyed a delicious meal! Started off with some mocktails, which are very refreshing. Got the tomato and burrata for an appetizer, and I was totally blown away! So delicious... For my main meal I got the veggie burger! Obviously, we had to end with dessert! The food here is amazing!! The owner/chef stopped by to talk to us about her cooking process for some of our items. The intention in her processes can be tasted in every bite. The escargot is the best one I've had! Every dish that was served made me dance a little in my seat. The drinks are really good too. They make their own pineapple rum, and flavored simple syrups. I reviewed Sunflower yesterday and don't see my post. I had dinner there on Saturday June 13 and expienced ver very slow service and a very cold dining room. I had to get a winter jacket I had in the trunk of my car and wore it through my dinner. This is the second time that I dined in the refrigerator like dinning room at Sunflower and it will be my last! The food was Nothing special and it was not good value or a pleasant dining experience in such a cold room. My wife and I had brunch with friends here today and all four of us thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The restaurant is nicely decorated, very elegant, well lit with many windows. The food was delicious - two Sunshine Breakfasts and two Soleil au Gratin, as was the coffee and the two desserts. Service was excellent, our server, Cynthia, was very attentive throughout our time there. They had a gentleman playing live guitar which was very pleasant. My wife and I have also been here for lunch previously and enjoyed it very much. Very nice restaurant, with distinctive food and atmosphere for Long Island. Sunflower Cafe stands where a previous icon of the community once existed. The space has been transformed into a bright and welcoming venue to share a meal with friends, family, or that special someone. The entrance door is a beautiful bright yellow, which reminded me of a summer day and field of sunflowers. In the entrance is a showcase of their homemade baked goods. The bar was filled with a handful of patrons, either waiting for friends to arrive, or enjoying a cocktail before sitting for their meal. THE GROWS: Many restaurants are doing this now, and this place is doing it too--charging for a bread basket. This makes sense, fiscally. It's only $5 and the bread was superb, so treat yourself, and do it. THE GLOWS: My friend and I both wanted the oysters Rockefeller and the crab cakes, so we ordered both and shared. The oysters were a generous portion of 6 huge ones, delicious and fresh. Most crab cake appetizers give you one crab cake; this one gave you two! The sauce that accompanied it was a savory delight, and they were plated on top of a memorable corn salsa. I ordered one of their specials for my entree: cod served atop lemon risotto, with asparagus and beur blanc sauce. Powerful flavor profile. The risotto was the perfect consistency, the cod was a handsome portion, and leftovers heated up well the following day. Service was very attentive and both servers entertained all of our questions and made great suggestions. I ordered the strawberry shortcake for dessert. Hear me out: the cake was dense and a balance of sweetness, fresh strawberry slice and whipped cream filled the middle layers. Another dollup of whipped cream with a whole strawberry crowned it. What a most delicious lunch we just had!! There were 3 of us..one had the duck confit-moist,tender crispy skin served with string beans & creamy mashed potatoes.Another had a roasted veggie sandwich with zucchini,eggplant,mushroom & sweet potato on a crispy ciabatta..I had a super delicious black bean burger which was so full of flavor & red pepper puree,pickled red onion & the crispiest French fries.We shared a lavender ice cream & an orange crème brûlée. Glad to see that location open again. Same menu, same kitchen staff, same wait staff as when it was Le Soir. Excellent food and excellent service. Only two points I will make: 1. The wine list needs a little work. Good selections but they need a little more depth. 2. The name "Sunflower Cafe and Bakery" sounds more like a coffee shop than a high end French restaurant. If the new owners were going to buy the business they should have bought the name as well. read more

I wouldn't bring my kids here but for a date night or to catch up with friends, it's perfect. The waitstaff is friendly, professional and knowledgeable. We came in on a Sunday afternoon around 2 and the crowds were starting to mellow out. We started with the escargot which was really tasty and garlicky. My friend got the French fries and French onion soup. The French onion soup was very good and cheesy. The French fries were good French fries. I had the fillet of sole meunière and the fish was cooked perfectly. It was light with a subtle crisp and had a wonderful lemon buttery sauce. We went to Sunflower Cafe for a birthday dinner on December 26, 2025. We had heard the prices were a little high but the food and service were worth the price. That's exactly what we found. The Conquille St Jacques, Escargot, and Butternut Squash soup appetizers were out of this world. Our main dishes of braised short ribs, lamb chops, and filet mignon were excellent. My only complaint was that during the meal, our waitress spilled a whole beer, 1/2 on my daughter's meal, and the other 1/2 on my daughter's lap. The waitress, whose name I've forgotten, and who was outstanding the whole night, was very upset and could not have been more apologetic. We told her not to worry, accidents happen and no one got hurt. They replaced my daughter's mashed potatoes, which was all that was left of her meal, and brought over a new beer. My shock was that nothing was offered on the house? Even the replaced beer was on the bill? I didn't expect them to say bring us your dry cleaning bill or even comp the meals, but for the manager/owner to offer nothing, not even a free beer on the house, after a 1/2 a beer was dumped on my daughter, was a little surprising. read more

Went for a Sunday brunch with my family. It was our first time there. Upon entering, we passed the decadent desserts display and were escorted into a beautiful dining area- clean, crisp, flowers on the table, bright and welcoming. The breakfast was fabulous; complete with fresh baked flaky croissants and homemade jam! The coffee was outstanding! I had the pleasure of having lunch at the Sunflower Cafe and Bakery today. Upon entering I was greeted by a lovely woman who was both Hostess and waitress. I was pleasantly surprised at the clean, crisp and upscale decor. I arrived just before my friend arrived and was seated at a nice window table for two. Each table was decorated with a single, fresh yellow rose. There were another two couples already seated and the atmosphere was rich and calming. I loved the black and white floor tiles and the table clothed tables. Everything looked clean and new. My friend arrived and we quickly ordered. I had the Southfork Turkey sandwich and it was phenomenal. Apparently, this place knows how to make and pair bread and the sandwich was awesome. Fresh turkey Gruyère cheese, lettuce and bacon and carmelized onion and mayo with a fresh grained bread. There were also French fries. There were some other great things on tug lunch menu like beef bourguignon and Duck. Also, there were at least three soups to choose from. My friend had the Croque Monsieur which is a sandwich with Gruyère cheese, fresh baked ham, on white artisan bread and a fresh side salad with house dressing. She said she enjoyed her meal and was also very impressed. The service was excellent and the food and atmosphere as well. Overall, I'd give the restaurant more than five stars and I'm looking forward to going back and trying some of their other offerings. The pricing was also fair and would be a bit cheaper with cash. We were so happy we discovered this adorable cafe that serves up the most delicious french entrees using only fresh and natural ingredients. We started with the goat cheese with pineapple chutney served with warmed pita bread. My husband had the roast duck L'orange and I had crab cakes with french fries. We topped it off with chocolate mousse that was perfect in every way. Everything was exceptional, from beginning to end. WE LOVED IT!! We enjoyed meeting the chef and her daughter, and the waitress was wonderful. I felt the lunch menu was super limited, I ended up having a quiche, which I have to be honest, was probably one of the best quiche I've ever had including in Europe. That being said, I was limited to the quiche because the menu was again limited. If you LOVE French food, this is definitely your spot as it's definitely a French menu- which is fine, but then be more transparent about it? Great atmosphere. Excellent service and the food was very tasty. It's a very cozy room with plenty of space between tables. We didn't have anything fancy, but everything was presented in a extremely nice manner. One of the dishes was the beet salad, which was very fresh and I had a roast turkey sandwich with brie also very tasty and a great whole-grain bread. I went to this cafe for the first time on October 22 for lunch. I sat outside with friends/book club and we really enjoyed an exquisite lunch. The mixed drinks were beautiful and unique, and the servicewas very professional and thoughtful. I ordered the artichoke and olive quiche, which was just perfect and I took home a slice of carrot cake that was beautiful to look at and light and airy and delicious.. OK, so I almost don't want to do a review in fear of everyone flocking to this restaurant to get a taste of excellence and making it harder for me to get a table in the future. This is probably the best meal I have had in years. We tried a lot so let me recommend.... an absolute must order is the clams casino. You will not find it better anywhere else!! The filet was perfect and it comes with this potato pie that like, " how did they make potatoes taste so good!?" Ridiculous!! If you like soft shell crabs, get it with the butter, lemon, caper sauce because it was perfection. OK, now if you like duck, you MUST order the Duck L'orange. It comes with the most delicious cream spinach that I have ever had in my life. They make all desserts in-house, and they do not disappoint.
