The food is great and a decent price, tbf I've only tried the apps bc I'm just a slight dude. The coffee is always good. The servers/bartenders are always helpful and friendly. The WiFi is fast and free, but let's be real if you're on the WiFi grab some coffee. Lots of great seating and views for being only indoor, plus it doubles as a bike and outdoor shop. read more

I've been going here for years and have loved their menu. The ambience is great this particular visit they no longer carry coconut milk, which that is the only kind I can have and they carried it for a long time and no longer do. My most frequent menu item is avocado toast, which used to be fabulous and now is a very thin smear of mushed avocado when it used to be actual avocado slices covering the toast, which also used to be toasted, it was a bit of a letdown visit today. read more

We just came here for a late lunch, and discovered that it is a very nice bike shop. If one comes in through the main door that's through Mass. St., one would think this place is just that---a bike store. The cafe part is mostly in the back and upstairs from this entrance. The cafe/coffee shop part is huge, and apparently a spot for students in the area. It is a very cozy and accommodating place to work and study. We found ourselves a bit more comfortable here than the other coffee shop we spotted ourselves at earlier in the day. This place won't allow dogs, or other feral things in. The service here is good. Because it is such a huge place you may have to flag a waiter/waitress down. It's not because they are non-existent, but because they must go up and down between seating areas. The food is typically ordered at the table with phone scanning the QR code (yeah, I know). Anyhow, I had to flag a waitress down because my phone was not behaving and some of us like the traditional person to person accepting orders. The best part? OMG. The food. My husband and I both ordered the Buffalo Patty Melt, and it is everything worth driving out to Lawrence for. I can only imagine what the other food here is like, and from other reviews, I am certain they aren't exaggerated. Also, we both ordered a dirty chai, and it was good. Came here the other day with my friend for brunch and we were not disappointed!! I got the blueberry lavender smoothie and the pretzel and my friend got a hot matcha latte and the rosemary biscuits and gravy (I think that's the name of the dish). My smoothie was delicious!! It went down smoothly and tasted incredible. The pretzel was also very tasty! It had a crisp outside and doughy inside. Also the two honey mustard sauces that came with it were delicious too! I tried some of my friends dish and I loved it!! You could really taste the rosemary in the gravy!! The vibe was cool and the staff was incredibly friendly. If I am ever back in Lawrence, I'll definitely stop by! read more

Nice store and restaurant in the back but the Italian soda was mostly milk and not mixed well. Staff seemed to be more concerned with their friends at the bar over their customers present. Food was overpriced and tasted bland. Loved shopping there, but not for food. read more

This place was so good I got the grilled cheese with fry's and the fry's were a perfect crisp and delicious. The grilled cheese was so cheesy and the bread was the right amount of crunchy. Their sauces were also great. Their fry sauce was so good there are no words. read more

My friend and I stumbled upon Sunflower Cafe while walking down Mass Street. It would be easy to miss because it's located inside the Sunflower Outdoor & Bike Shop towards the back. There are a couple of larger tables and a few seats at a bar. We both ordered the Avocado Toast, which is vegan if you remove the fried egg, but there are several other tasty sounding brunch options. And after 11 there are even more options - burgers, sandwiches, fries, salads, snackies. Who knew? Also covering all the major beverage categories there's: coffee, tea, smoothies, shakes, soda, brunch cocktails, and beer. There was also that cool local Lawrence vibe - there were several regulars and a group of cyclists gathering for a routine post-ride beer. Lawrence overrated. It's okay at best. One of those places that gives you 2 hours of wifi for your purchase which isn't ideal for students. The coffee is ok & the matcha is also okay. They sometimes forget to stir the syrups in and they'll close the kitchen, telling one person it's closed & another that they somehow "ran out of everything". Not my fav but some people rly do love it. read more

A profound experience. The setting of bike shop and cafe is a soothing combination. The atmosphere is grand and peaceful, and the perfect place to enjoy a coffee on a homework adventure, meal, or both! The upstairs seating has low top tables, couches, and plenty of seating. The menu isn't the largest, but the food we ordered was amazing!! We got the B&G and burrito o the breakfast menu. Both were SO amazing! No sugar-free flavors for the coffee syrups, but the coffee itself is rich and smooth. read more

First time visit. I was a bit skeptical while walking through the retail bike store to get to the cafe but happy we did. The ordering at the counter was smooth and she was helpful with questions about the menu. The drinks were good. We had three different sandwiches and the hummus platter and enjoyed it all. Only downside was the we sat upstairs and so it was a one flight walk to get a water refill. read more

The largest, most expansive coffee/espresso bar in town that adds baked goods and Free State beers on tap deserves its own spot on Yelp. Stopped in today for the most intense kind of evaluation: a single shot of espresso which did not disappoint. What a great addition to the city, this. The dining area extends upstairs and covers most of that large space making this easily the largest espresso destination in town if measure by seating. Sparse, lots of open wood floors just like the rest of the shop, baked goods, soups, etc. and big screen TVs showing bike events.... wow, what's more to love if you're an outdoor nerd??? Seating includes tables but also some bar space, and even extends to some outdoor seating on Mass Street. New fav destination. Thinking my first pandemic work session outside the house on the laptop may be here now that I'm awaiting my second vaccination. Plenty of space to spread out. Job well done, Sunflower! read more

Really great cafe within a bike/outdoor gear shop. It's much larger inside than you would expect -- lots of tables for studying or eating a quick breakfast. Iced brown sugar cinnamon oat latte was very good. They also have a full bar including beers on tap. And even if you're not shopping, it's a beautiful store inside and a fun place to look around. read more

Easily the best breakfast tacos in town. Well-lit and airy with so many places to sit, I love to bring my wife here on lunch dates and my kids here for lunch or dinner. Best place to watch a KU game or a chiefs game with the fam. Service is fantastic. I think they have a new General Manager or kitchen manager or something because I've had almost zero wait time. On a recent cold day (when school was cancelled but Sunflower was open) I brought both my kids in to get hot chocolate. Not only was the hot chocolate delightful, but they asked me if I wanted kid-friendly temps (hot, but not melt your face off). I said yes and both boys loved it. Just the best! read more

This used to be a place I frequented, until I was let down multiple times. After waiting an hour for our food, we only received part of our order. The food we did receive was cold. Staff were unhelpful and incompetent in guest recovery. I am extremely disappointed and will not be returning any longer. read more

Sunflower Cafe in Atchison, Kansas is a delight! Very cozy and homey cafe to meet a friend, enjoy a cup of coffee or tea and a bakery item. Unique wall displays are very inviting. The owners are also a delight, friendly, and helpful. The cafe also sells a variety of small comfort items. I have very much enjoyed Lattes, as well as regular coffees, and specialties. The barista here knows what's she's doing! After moving here from Brooklyn, it's been spotty finding a place where they can steam the milk just right having that creamy froth with it still being the perfect temperature. The character of the shop makes it a delightful setting to find a cozy place to sit while sipping your delicious drink! Upstairs or downstairs, out back or out front, many places to choose to relax. The repurposed character of the shop also makes it a fun place to day dream while looking around. Upstairs you have a choice of sitting on a couch, at antique tables and even cushy chairs with a side table. The bathrooms are clean and renovated, too! As per food, we had a breakfast burrito which was delicious. Oh and of course, the lattes like I said-they know what they are doing! Superbly delicious! Well done, Sunflower! read more

I'm always looking for healthy food and healthy fast food is a rare find. But this place has a tofu/sweet potato "Migas Burrito" that has quickly become a favorite. I also love that they serve their food in compostable containers so this meal created no plastic waste. We also had the ham/brie cheese sandwich on toasted sourdough and loved that too! read more
