Strawberry poptart - ask to have it warmed up
    Allison N.

Plenty of tables and seating, but not a lot of comfy seating / couches. Staff was welcoming and helpful as my husband and I explored the menu, lots of options. I loved that they had locally made syrups instead of just the plastic bottles that sit on shelves for years. Good coffee, decent prices for flavored lattes. Their strawberry poptart was okay - glad we warmed it up but I think it was just microwaved so it lost any flake/texture to the crust. I'd come back and support this local shop!

This is quaint but cute, desolate coffee shop in Springhill, KS. I had seen it on Google searches before whenever I was in the area and trying to find a different coffee shop. This past week, my husband and I finally got a chance to stop in here. When we did we were hungry and happy to learn they sold paninis here. We both had the southwest chicken one, and although I didn't notice anything southwest about it, it was pretty good. The cheese was gooey, so nothing wrong with that. We had already had our drip coffee, and wanted something different. As I checked things on the menu, I noticed that they sell Hammerhand coffee, from up in Liberty, MO, which was interesting. They also sell scratch bakery items from K.C. We both ended up having their oat pistachio latte, cold, which was very tasty. I wished I lived closer since most stopped offering pistachio lattes. The baristas were very friendly and helpful with suggestions. I would recommend anyone near the area to stop by. The place is spacious and accommodating. Although they have tables near outlets, the chairs aren't too comfortable for a long stay, but they do have a cozy couch to sit at for a while.

Caramel coffee cloud and strawberry matcha

Okay what, so cute so yummy, so many options! I got the strawberry Matcha iced and it's amazing and also a caramel coffee cloud, which is also super yummy! And so pretty! The biscuits and gravy are super good! It was super fast for everything that I ordered as well! The gals were super nice and friendly and helpful! They picked my order today!

This place is a hidden gem. Very spacious, clean, aesthetically pleasing, and excellent pastry selection. Their menu is plentiful and includes coffee, lattes, frappes, smoothies, and refreshers. The baristas are very kind and take care of each customers. I came in mid-morning and it was a quiet Wednesday, but I could imagine this place being popular on the weekends. I ordered a blueberry scone and one of their seasonal "Girl Scout lattes" and it was also delicious. I could not recommend this place more, I just wish it was closer!

Who knew that such a cute coffee shop was tucked away in old downtown Spring Hill. When visiting family in town, I premeditatedly make my way into the Bean Coffee Co for their small, but delightful selection of drinks, pastries and brunch food. Just some of their highlights: the Grown-Up Grilled Cheese is so unique; sweet and spicy jalapeño cream cheese on a ham and bacon melt. Secondly, I dig their Matcha Frappe. They boast all of the health benefits of it, but even without those antioxidants, I think it's an improved creamy take on a green tea frappe! Finally, I'm super excited for the fall as they just unveiled their Pumpkin Chai Latte. The slight pumpkin flavor peaks through the "spiciness" of the chai in both the iced and warm versions. Overall, I'm very pleased to have found this gem. It can get costly between the food, drinks and their wonderful berry pop-tarts, but I find it is well-worth it.

I had such good time here! My friend and I sat on the chairs up up front and we loved being able to be by the windows and take in the small town feel of where we were in Springhill! It's on a street where you can shop some antiques and go to a cute boutique before/after. They serve Messenger Coffee here so I knew I'd love it! The interior is so pretty and it's a nice, open concept. The customer service was awesome too. I appreciate a place like this giving me a reason to visit Springhill again!

It's a very cute smallish spot in a city with a surprising number of decent restaurants - but every city could use one more, right? They have a few tables in the dining room with a fast-food style ordering counter, plus three more tables in a patio area that blends seamlessly into the parking lot. Unfortunately, the promise of this new establishment didn't quite live up to my expectations. I ordered the 1/2 lb Big Daddy Burger for lunch. The burger was shaped more or less like a meatball so while there was plenty of beef, it didn't come close to covering the bun so the proportions didn't seem to fit each other. They use homemade pickles which some people would probably really like, but I'm more of an old fashion Vlasic hamburger pickle kind of guy. On the plus side, you could definitely taste a distinct charcoal flavor in the meat, similar to what a burger at an Independence Day picnic should taste like. My curly fries were fine, but nothing more than what you would purchase in the frozen food section of the grocery store. My wife ordered the wings which are roasted, fried, and then thrown on the grill. It sounds like they went to extra trouble to make the wings, but they were on the small side (as many wings are these days - except for the giant wings at The Peanut locations in the KC area) and the taste wasn't noticeably different from the typical appetizer wings at your nearest sports bar. I've heard that pizza is really their thing and that is what we had hoped to order, if their pizza oven had not been on the fritz. They've only been open a short time, maybe a month or so, and this is the second time I'm aware of that their pizza oven has been non-functional. We plan to give them another chance on a future visit when they get their pizza oven up and running again. But until then, while the food was definitely OK, it's not a place I plan to rush back to.

If you are into high-quality locally sourced food, this is the place for you. You can just tell it's better quality than other places that use seed oils, they use beef tallow to fry the french fries and I swear they tasted better! Haven't tried the pizza yet, but we'll go back for that and they cauliflower bites for sure. Wish more restaurants cared about quality like these guys do. If you are wanting burger or pizza check them out and the prices are very reasonable.

The sauce? I would want more of a classic KC style sauce that is thick and coats the meat, but the flavor of the ribs makes up for it. Pair it with your favorite sauce and it's a 10/10.

My first trip was with my teenage son who loves ribs. We went for their unbeatable Wednesday/Saturday $18 full rack rib special. We shared the ribs and still had plenty left to take home. The meat was tender, smoky, and perfectly cooked. The BBQ beans were outstanding with just the right balance of smokiness and sweetness, and the seasoned crinkle-cut fries were addictive. This past weekend I brought the whole family of five. We're longtime regulars at KC Joe's, so I was a little nervous about a potential mutiny , but everyone loved it! My wife's face lit up the moment we walked in. She said it felt like a cozy restaurant we'd stumble upon while on vacation. The atmosphere is casual and welcoming with plenty of comfortable booths, warm lighting, and that perfect smoky BBQ aroma that hits you right when you enter. I went with the sausage and brisket combo, and it easily holds its own against most of the BBQ I grew up eating in Texas. One child ordered the kid's hot dog meal, and it was one of the best hot dogs I've tasted. Another got the brisket "Sloppy Mess" sandwich, and my wife had the shredded pork sandwich. Every single plate was a hit, and the whole family agreed we've found a new favorite. The owner was incredibly friendly and took the time to chat with us about how he opened the restaurant. It's always great to see that kind of passion! My only feedback is that I wish they stayed open a bit later. They close at 7pm on Sundays and 8pm the rest of the week. With a 20-minute drive from Overland Park and a family of five to wrangle, we could roll up right around closing time. A little extra time would make it perfect which I anticipate will happen the more people discover them. All in all, J's BBQ has officially earned a regular spot in our weekly rotation. If you're in the area and craving quality BBQ in a family-friendly setting, do yourself a favor and check it out!
