Racist and unprofessional provider! I am extremely disappointed with the way my daughter's care was handled by this office. Two months ago, I brought my daughter to see Dr. Patel, and we were informed that she would need dental treatment under general anesthesia to address her cavities and help prevent further tooth decay and infections. Following that recommendation, we scheduled her procedure two months in advance and made arrangements based on the scheduled date. Less than two weeks before the procedure, I was informed that it had been canceled because the office had apparently failed to properly coordinate with the medical facility where the procedure was supposed to take place. This was not due to any issue on our end, yet my daughter's treatment was delayed as a result. As a parent, it is incredibly frustrating to wait months for necessary dental treatment only to have it canceled at the last minute because of an administrative or scheduling failure. Children requiring treatment under general anesthesia often face limited appointment availability, making these delays even more significant. I expected better communication, planning, and coordination from a pediatric dental practice entrusted with children's care. Unfortunately, this experience left me with little confidence in the office's ability to manage patients' treatment plans effectively. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this practice to other families seeking timely and reliable pediatric dental care. I have also filed, or intend to file, complaints with the appropriate regulatory and consumer protection organizations so that this matter can be reviewed. read more

I don't know where Dr. Patel went, but they need her back. Since we've seen the younger male doctor with braces, his way of dealing with my 7-yr-old autistic/ADHD son was horrible, impatient, unsympathetic and not as informed by recent child development and behavior management practices as he says he is. Appointment was for sealants, and my son couldn't tolerate the fishtail mouthpiece needed to keep the tooth dry. He said it hurt. The assistant tried twice, but he was panicked, crying and he could not calm down. He jumped out of the chair, spit, he was badly freaked out. I convinced him to be calm enough to get in the chair (by threatening no Minecraft time, so it was serious) and have the doctor try. So the doctor asked him if it was a discomfort or real pain that hurts. He's 7, he's autistic, so he is not going to really understand the difference, nor is it going to calm him. But my son replied that it hurt. The next thing the doctor said is he "had just done this same procedure on a 4-year-old." The implication being what? That it's not so bad/scary/painful/whatever and my son should be ok with it too? It's a logical fallacy and I think he should reevaluate that approach as a pediatric medical provider. Pain is subjective (just as the doctor said himself to me later). I interrupted right then because this felt like a complete invalidation of my son's experience. Downplaying pain into "discomfort." That just because a 4-yr-old patient had no pain, my son couldn't possibly have any pain either? You don't try to talk an already panicked, scared kid into trying again with this logic. This is how kids end up being afraid of the dentist. Maybe it was true pain, or maybe it was discomfort, or just panic. But no one gets to say how a patient feels just because another patient felt fine. It dismissed how the kid felt when he had already said it hurt. These are not the messages I want my kid to get. Most importantly, it was NOT calming him. The fear and panic were real. You can't do dental work without a calm patient. The most infuriating part was the patronizing way in which this doctor talked to me outside the room. Insisting that he was so well trained in behavior management with kids, and that my son had been fine and didn't start crying until I interfered--UNTRUE, he was crying and freaking out on the assistant's first try with the fishtail. He seriously tried to blame the parent for the kid's pain and panic. Unbelievable. read more

Overall 5/5 great experience! I made an appt for my daughter for her first dentist visit. Honestly there's nothing I can complain about. We walked in and were immediately taken in by the dental hygienist. She guided us on how to hold our daughter who was crying and fussing a bit. Then Dr. Jen walked in with a big smile. She sang with us to calm my daughter during her examination. DR. Jen was thorough and detailed in recommendations and advice. We were in and out of the office in less than 45mins. I have 4 kids I always make it a point to schedule ahead in order to prevent long wait times, some of the places when they can't accommodate will make sure I will schedule 2 at a time and I understand but when you book 6 months in advance knowing that you are set, u shouldn't be told we are short staff at the same time others are getting in before you. I have been going to Sunkidz for the past 5 years. The place is amazing! The staff is always friendly, make me and my kids feel safe and welcome. It follows COVID protocols and is always clean. This was my second time here with my son. Arrived 35 mins earlier than my apt time. Waited waited waited it's finally 10 mins past my appointment time and baby and i are still in waiting area.. just us! Few seconds later a couple walk in with they're kids , not even 5 mins go after they check in and they get called in.. we were left waiting. I mentioned to the lady in the front she said 10 more minutes. We waited 11 mins more and guess what?! She kept my baby and I waiting smh she asked when i wanted to reschedule obviously discarding my kid and i .. i walked away.. never again! What an amazing experience! This was my toddlers first dental visit. We've talked about going to the dentist for a while. She was really anticipating the visit with excitement and she was not at all disappointed. The receptionists were very friendly and the waiting room is very clean and welcoming. Our wait time was between 5-10 minutes and that was probably because my daughter had to use the bathroom. The bathroom was also extremely clean and bright. The dental assistant was so kind and professional and explained everything to us (the parents) and my daughter. She asked my daughter for permission before doing anything which I think made her feel important and included. The dental assistant managed to perform a professional cleaning and take X-rays very quickly. They asked my daughter to wear fun sunglasses so the bright light wouldn't hurt her eyes. They have a tv playing cartoons on the ceiling above the dental chair to distract her (although she did not need it since she did so well) My daughter was very comfortable and so were we. Dr. Patel was also very kind and professional and addressed all of our concerns. Everyone really took their time to provide us with care. We are looking forward to the next visit and I have already recommended this location to my other mommy friends! Way to go Sunkidz Pediatric Dentistry! You will be seeing us for years to come. First time taking my kids to this clinic and wow! Took my 6 year old and my almost 2 year old i can definitely say it was the best dental clinic I've EVER been to. And I'm talking since I can remember even as a child. From the moment you walk in everything is super clean and nicely thought out. Super kid friendly and everything looks well taken care of. Staff was unbelievably nice as well and the dentist I can say great with kids. My daughter had 5 cavatys filled and my son just had a check up. Overall 5, but long wait time waiting for the dentist. Dr. Tatiana and the staff made it worthwhile. This was our first time taking our son to the dentist. I originally chose this place because of the reviews. The initial scheduling over the phone was very quick and easy. The receptionist spoke clearly and kindly. When we arrived for the visit, the waiting room was clean, but the corner play area seemed a little drab - probably because the toys seemed a little beat up, but it is a very minor concern; I just wiped down the toys my son wanted to play with and waited for his appointment. We arrived early but still were called in about 10 minutes after our scheduled appointment time. When directed in the chair with the dental assistant, she asked a few questions and then had me sit in the chair and lay my 1 year old son on her lap. She...was...amazing! My son was wailing the whole time but she stayed focused and composed, cleaning every single one of my son's teeth (and at 1 year old, he has all but 2 teeth already). Once she was done, we had to wait for the dentist. This was probably the downside about the appointment. We waited quite awhile for the dentist. Now normally waiting is understandable but when you have a one year old who is reaching nap time, every minute matters. When Dr. Tatiana arrived, she was welcoming, friendly, and pleasant. She was very informative and definitely had a great presence. Typically, a brief 5 minutes or less with the dentist shouldn't justify waiting 30 minutes or more for the dentist. But because of Dr. Tatiana's overall character and professionalism, this rating stayed a 5 (the long wait time for the dentist would've brought the rating to a 4). Overall, the staff is friendly and welcoming. Definitely worthwhile to visit. read more

Dr. Patel and her staff are wonderful and know how to interact with children. My son is shy and I was worried that he wouldn't sit still but the office staff took such wonder care of him. All the room are super clean and designed for kids. There's a tv monitor above every dental chair so it helps the little ones takes their mind off the dental work and sit back and watch a movie. We started with this Dentist for our 3 year old son. The first 4 appointments were great. They were kind, office was kid friendly and the Dentist was great with our son. Unfortunately, due to Covid-19 their business practices have changed and because of this they have now resorted to charging for a video call "dental visit" where they are charging $45.00. Our son hit his tooth about 2 weeks ago and since then it has started to turn grey. I called Sunkidz to schedule an appointment so that the dentist can take an X-ray. The receptionist informed me about this virtual visit to which I said that I want to save the $45 and just come in. They said that this is not possible and that I have to do the virtual visit. Not sure what the Doctor is going to determine virtually, because my son is not in pain, nor is the tooth infected. On top of that the $45.00 cannot be credited towards the office visit if the Doctor determines that my son needs to come in. As far as I am concerned Sunkidz is "double dipping" and taking advantage of their patients especially in these tough economic times. Lastly, about three days later I get a letter in the mail from Sunkidz Pediatric Dentistry stating that my son is no longer welcome and that we should seek the services of another dentist. Horrible business practice! I didn't even get a phone call from the Dentist or office manager to discuss it further and now they have lost my business for the next 12 years. read more

Dr.Patel and her team are simply the best! From the first call to the last visit, they made sure to make me and my son feel comfortable and welcome. Dealing with with a tooth ache is hard, especially when it's your child and all you just want to make them feel better. I'm glad I found Dr.Patel, because she did exactly that! I called the office and explained the issue my son was having, and Dr.Patel called me back within the hour. She had me bring him in the next day and treated my son perfectly. I was amazed at how well they made my son feel at ease, even with needles, drills, and the typical sounds that most people fear when going to the dentist. I brought my 7 yo yesterday for a check up. She had a cleaning (the assistant was very professional). My two stars go to the dentist Dr Patel. She came into the room saying that if I don't agree to have my daughter have an X-ray she cannot accept her as new patient. I replied she did not have to have us waiting 30 minutes to kick us out and argued that she didn't even check her mouth before considering if she really needs an X-ray. I explained I am in my 40s and when I was younger dentists would only take X-rays if needed. But she rushed to say "X-rays didn't exist". So ignorant.
