I gave D a 5 in 2023. After being treated since 2023, I give D a 2. This is why: Dentalvana's office turned out more amazing than I anticipated. Initially it was promising but after 2 years Dentalvana (samantha) now advises I still need an additional $11,9k out of pocket to finish treatment. The initial $4,5K out of pocket and $3K dental care average was not enough. In other words dental coverage doesn't cover implants, per Samantha, only out of pocket dollars does. I wasted 2 years and I'm out of $4,5k and $3k of dental coverage. An uncomfortable flipper i can't wear to work. Dentalvana recommends I return; they'll see what they can do. Why return if I still have to pay an additional $11,9k to finish treatment? Would you return? read more

The staff at Dentalvana was always very friendly, and the main reason I switched from my former dentist was convenience -- Dentalvana is open on Saturdays, which fit my schedule better. Unfortunately, I had several frustrating experiences that ultimately made me return to my old dentist. At my first visit, a hygienist told me I needed a $900 full-mouth deep cleaning. That felt excessive, so I asked the dentist to review my x-rays. After review, the dentist determined I only needed one quadrant deep cleaned, bringing the cost down to about $200. The hygienist who performed that deep cleaning was different and she was great -- professional, thorough, and kind. She even checked the rest of my teeth and confirmed (with cleaning and x-rays) there was no plaque anywhere else. So I thought the issue was resolved. At my very next cleaning, however (maybe only about a month later), the original hygienist again insisted I needed topical anesthetic so she could get under my gums to clean out plaque. This was frustrating because another hygienist had just confirmed through cleaning and x-rays that there was no plaque left. I also noticed her attitude changed after I declined the full-mouth procedure -- each time I flinched during cleaning, she rolled her eyes. Whether or not she believed the treatment was needed, I don't think patients should feel judged in the chair. The biggest issue came during a bonding procedure. While bonding my two front teeth, the dentist accidentally pushed my permanent wire retainer (which had been stable for over 10 years without any teeth moving) upward between my teeth. Instead of lying flat, the wire now sat like an inverted "V." I immediately asked if this could cause shifting, and she assured me it would not. I relied on that assurance, but months later a gap began forming in my front teeth. When I called to ask if they could check, I was told it would be $100 just for a consultation -- to essentially look at their own work and to look at their own potential mistake!! Even though they later agreed to waive the fee, I decided not to return. If the retainer was the problem, I already knew from a prior visit they would charge me $450 for a "custom permanent retainer," which didn't make sense. In my experience, the only time molds were necessary for retainers was for invisible/clear plastic retainers or Hawley retainers -- not standard permanent wire retainers. My former dentist confirmed the displaced retainer was not holding my teeth and was very likely the cause of the gap. He immediately replaced it without any "special" mold for $275, far less than Dentalvana's quote. Unfortunately, the gap cannot be fixed by simply replacing it, and my only options now are orthodontic treatment or costly veneers -- a very upsetting situation with my wedding coming up. In the end, while the staff was friendly, the combination of inconsistent communication, surprise billing (sometimes explained, sometimes not), questionable treatment recommendations, and the way I was made to feel by one hygienist became too much. I hope Dentalvana takes this feedback seriously. For those considering this office, don't just look at the 5-star reviews -- read the lower-rated ones too, always ask for all costs upfront (including x-rays and add-ons) so there are no surprises later, and don't hesitate to ask for a second opinion from another dentist if you feel like something is off. read more

I went for an ex-ray and find out what was causing the pain. They immediately told me I needed a root canal $4,000. I asked about an extraction and they said they recommended a root canal. I asked about an implant and they came back with $7,000 (for one tooth). When I told them I was going to see my regular dentist they refused to do any service on me unless I did the complete treatment with them. Make a long story short....My dentist ended up extracting the tooth for two reasons, first and foremost the tooth was broken/cracked and a root canal was not even possible. I asked him about an implant and he said it was not necessary because I did not have a tooth above it and would not make any sense to put an implant (This is an honest Dentist someone who thinks about my best interest). I'm sad writing this because for 7 years I had great experiences. The last couple times , I've noticed I always have a different dentist . I'm alright with that but today I needed a crown reattached. After waiting 45 minutes without anyone letting me know what was happening, the nice hygienist brought me a water and said the dentist was busy with someone else. Today I felt like a bother to them. From the front desk to the dentist . The dentist (who was another new one for me) seemed annoyed and irritated that she had to help me. She worked impatiently on me as if she had to get back to someone more important. I left with a very sad feeling of the way I used to love going there. I wish Giada was there. I'm not one to write reviews, but I want to help as many people avoid the headache of an experience I've had with Dentalvana. I needed to find a new dentist covered by my insurance and I stumbled upon Dentalvana via ZocDoc. I decided to book an appointment based on how lovely the office looked and the great reviews. The only reason I give them one star is due to the team being really friendly and very charismatic. However, this practice conducts business strictly to get patients to spend as much as possible. After my annual cleaning and check-up, I was told that I needed to have my cavities filled and my wisdom teeth removed. I was sent to their financial office and given a $10K treatment plan. The reasoning behind this absurdly expensive plan (mind you, I have insurance) turned into a sales pitch filled with fear-mongering. (I.E. oral surgeons under your insurance plan are not as good as ours and can cause facial paralysis) This should have been a red flag, but I truly believed they were looking for my best interest. When I returned the following week for my cavity appointment, things seemed to be going well. Until I was placed back into the financial office with a completely numb face. I couldn't eat, drink, or speak. I feel as if this was preferred because I could submit to their bizarre financial requests. This was when the women kept insisting that I should spend an extra $6k to go to their private oral surgeon. Usually, a medical professional that cares about you will recommend you to a specialist within your insurance plan. Over an hour of back & forth and a lot of anesthesia later, I regretfully signed some papers about their financial payment plan. Once the medication wore off, I came to my senses called the practice back, and told them I will not be seeing their surgeon and will be continuing with one within my insurance plan. I thought this meant that all of the financial papers will be voided, as I will no longer be using them for any procedures. ***However, when I logged into my Wells Fargo account, I see that my care credit account was charged for the $10K. I spoke to Wells Fargo about their billing practice and my experience. Once we submitted a claim and disputed this grotesque charge, the service provider at Wells told me that this is actually against their policy guidelines and any practice cannot charge for a service UNTIL it has been completed.*** Long story short, I will not be returning to Dentalvana nor would I recommend this practice to anyone, especially those with dental insurance. read more

I just can say that I lost 5 thousand dollars and I did not get what they promised to me at the beginning of the treatment. After a dental evaluation they suggested me to get the Invisalign treatment, they said that the maximum time for my treatment would be no more than 2 years.... Unfortunately it's been more than 3 years and I have not gotten what it was promised at the beginning of the treatment. I have been following the dentist instructions and still not being able to finish my treatment. Dr. Julia said that she was gonna take care of me but she did not!! I was hit up with a "car sales" like speech after my (incredibly tortuous) teeth cleaning. Supposedly I required significantly more dental work and I was supposed to greatly increase the frequency of my visits to the dentist. BOGUS! After visiting a different dentist, I learned that my teeth did not in fact require such work and expense. Of course, dentist Julia of Dentalvana claimed that she is conservative in her treatment plans to ensure the health of her patients. No. No. No. This was attempted selfish and greedy robbery. Do not go to this dentist. Run away. Additionally, I strongly believe that most of the positive Dentalvana reviews are fake. I live in NY, NJ and Miami. I had a bad toothache over Christmas Holiday and couldn't get to see my regular dentist in NJ. Went straight off the plane and directly to Dentalvana, where they immediately saw my pain and fit me in. My face was swollen from infection and I needed a root canal. Dr Julia got me out of pain immediately. She has impeccable chair side manner and was so gentle I didn't feel a thing. They scheduled me with their endodontist the very next day and he finished the job. The staff was awesome and so very accommodating I'm actually thinking of switching my dentist of 40 plus years to her.
