I'd give more than five stars if I could! I dealt with Muaath from start to finish. We had an ad from Sunlight Concepts in our Home Tour booklet, so I decided to give them a call. Having dealt with many vendors in the past, I never expected the entire process to be so incredibly easy. They provided all the paperwork I needed for my HOA, which was so appreciated! We have an obnoxiously high cathedral ceiling (which I hate), and Muaath went through the process that they would have to follow to make everything work properly. The day of installation, it was extremely smooth. The team covered the area to ensure that it remained clean, they double-checked with us on the placement we wanted, it could not have been easier. We put in two sun tunnels in our dark cave of a dining room and one in our guest bath. Our dark and dreary dining room is now the brightest room in the house! It took us about two weeks to stop trying to turn off the lights in the dining room and bathroom - what an incredible difference. Guests who come over comment on how bright and airy our home is, and these wonderful sun tunnels are the reason why! When you enter the house, the first room you see is the dining room, so it brightens the entire perspective you have of the house. It was a terrific move, and I highly recommend Sunlight Concepts. As a matter of fact, I did to three neighbors, all of whom have installed and are as happy as I am. This was one of the best renovations we have done, and worth every penny we paid! I called them to give me an estimate, and I found it when they gave me the estimate. It wasn't complete what I asked them to redo , the estimate each time they went up in price, I called another company, shown them there price and they were at least that what they had charged. I've been a satisfied customer of Sunlight Concepts for years, ever since they installed two Solatubes above my stairwell in 2018. I never had any issues, but recently I found a live cockroach under one of the tubes and a dead recluse spider under the other. Given that I've lived in my home for over 20 years without ever encountering pests on the stairs, I called Sunlight to ask if the caulking around the tubes might be loose. I spoke to DJ, who initially said it was unlikely but then offered to send someone for an inspection to ease my mind. The inspection was quoted at $150 and I agreed to it since it was supposed to include checking the tubes in the attic as well. When the two technicians arrived, the inspection lasted less than 10 minutes. They glanced at the Solatubes, confirmed they were flush with the ceiling and said they had seen the 2 domes on the roof as they drove in and they were also fine. But no real inspection was done to check for cracks or gaps in the domes or tubing. Instead, the technician, Hadi abruptly suggested I might have rats in the attic and started to leave. When I asked about the $150 charge, I was told it was for "time and gas", despite the invoice clearly stating the inspection was to check for cracks and gaps in the domes and tubing. Frankly, I feel this inspection was rushed, incomplete and not worth the cost. I expected a much more thorough inspection given the price and I'm very disappointed with the lack of professionalism. I would have appreciated a more careful look at the domes and Solatubes, as promised. Based on this experience, I can't recommend Sunlight Concept's inspection services. read more

We are a repeat customer and had sunlight concept come out and install another solar tube in our guest bedroom. We got scheduled in quickly and Majorie is an absolute joy to work with. She scheduled to come out and do the installation Zack. It rained on the day we were scheduled but Majorie was able to have us scheduled for the next day. Zack came out and did the installation. He was very courteous explained what he would do and got going. Kept the job site clean which I really appreciated. New solar tube looks great and really brightens up the room. Very happy on the outcome. The next day we experiences heavy rains and noticed a leak. We weren't sure if maybe it was the new tube or there wax another issue with the roof. To be on the safe side we mentioned it to Majorie who quickly scheduled some one to take a look for us. We live in a HOA home and before we got our HOA involved we wanted to ensure the solar tube was not the cause (basically doing process of elimination). Mohammed and Zack come up. Zack was fine to go back up and take a look for us. Mohammed on the other hand was "defensive" and kept the tone of we were accusing them for the leak. That wasn't the case at all. I am very grateful Zack said they should double check for us and he was able to fine the reason for the leak. Took a picture and shared with us. What a gem Zack is!!! Have had this problem for a while where my attic would be burning hot during the day time and would be impossible to use it (the house is built on slab, thus all wiring and plumbing mostly goes through the attic). In my search for a solution (and after quite some research going on my own to procure a fan and get it installed vs DIY), i got to know about Solatube and their distributor/installer SunlightConcepts. After a couple of emails/phone calls, the appointment was setup. The installation was done today and instead of installing one fan (which was the initial plan) , i ended up with 2 (given how the attic is designed) and the job was done in a super quick time. Our home previously had a sun tunnel installed in one of the bathrooms. We wanted to install one in the office room. Not knowing the brand of the current, I came across Solatube products. They have a youtube channel. Sunlight Concept is their premier installer near where I live so I contacted them via their website. I received a call from Marjorie and a comprehensive quote shortly after. The onsite inspection/installation was scheduled just a few days thereafter. Our installer, Muhammad, was punctual. He texted me on the way to our home., which I always appreciate. Muhammad was very friendly. We spoke about 10 mins. He answered all the questions we had eg. comparison to the low profile version solatube, night light battery, etc. and we went ahead for the installation to replace the ceiling light fixture. The installation took over an hour. Muhammad prepped the area in our office and under the attic entrance. He covered the floor with tarps. He covered our furniture with plastic sheets. Installation was smooth. Muhammad is an expert installer. I had to leave when the installation almost finished but Muhammad explained very well to my wife post installation. eg. how to change the light bulbs since we have the light kit. It turned out we had a Velux brand tunnel in our bathroom. Though not knowing how long ago the Velux was installed, the Solatube, both 14 inches, looks premium and so much brighter than the bathroom adjacent to it. We are very happy how it turns out. I have bought 10 Solatube sets from Sunlight Concepts over the past 10 years for 2 houses (5 each). Both times Marjorie and Ali have been a pleasure to work with. Solatube as a product is the best in the industry and I've came to choose Solatube again on the second house. Solatube's availability of all kinds of trim options alone are a great advantage over competitors like Velux, ODL, Suntunnel etc. On top of that the rigid Spectralight Infinity tubes are super reflective and efficient in sending the light bouncing into the house. The rigid tubes make installation a bit more difficult for novice but its worth it. Ali's store is also great place to buy other awesome products like QuietCool Whole house fan (which negates the need for air conditioning in the Bay area houses) and Solar Attic fans. Now why did I take off stars off the review. Its simply because the labor to install is a bit too much. Its twice the retail cost of any 5-star electrician, plumber or HVAC contractor, all of which professions require crawling in unpleasant crawlspace or attic. Ali's installation team is punctual and does top notch quality work. The drastic light-up-of-home results will overpower the feeling of the high cost over time but it is still up there with a high-end home designer labor rate. Each Solatube installed with light kit can cost about $1200-1500, 60-80% of which is labor charge. read more

Marjorie helped me through it all and was very patient while we got the paperwork settled. The two installers were great (I believe it was Mufid and Mohammed) and they installed the two tubes just before it rained. I know they did a great job because just after the installation the heavens opened up and a downpour lasting some hours started. Things inside the house were dry and fine. Couldn't ask for a better test than that. I don't need any more tubes in this house but if I need them in another I'll be looking these guys up again. Ali and Muhammad installed a whole-house fan and a few Solatubes for us. Our attic has an older, second roof hidden in it and not much room to move around, and unfortunately some of the Solatubes we wanted didn't work out due to inconveniently-placed gas and water lines. Ali and Muhammad spent a while evaluating the situation, then clearly explained which locations would and wouldn't work, and why. They did an excellent job considering the circumstances. The products they installed are also great. The Solatubes provide a lot of natural light and have really brightened up a few gloomy areas of the house without having to turn on lights during the day. We were expecting a single-speed whole-house fan but got a newer, 8-speed version at no extra cost. On the lowest setting it's barely audible and still pulls in a nice amount of air, and on the highest speed it can create a strong breeze throughout the whole house. read more

I would like to commend the folks (Ali, Muhammed, Hadi, if I have the names right) for an excellent solution to my overheating bedroom. With attic space above the bedroom too small for a whole house fan, Sunlight Concepts instead recommended a garage fan. I cannot say enough about their competence, efficiency, workmanship and very reasonable price. The entire job cost about $1,300 compared with over $8,400 that was quoted to me by another company that clearly was padding the job with a HUGE amount of unnecessary and unrequested work! The fan delivers exactly what I wanted (-5º in the bedroom). I managed to get the pocket doors to slide over (even though they're not lined up well, barely meet in the middle and are really sticky to move) to seal off the bedroom. Then, with the sliding balcony door open about 2 feet, the temperature goes down 5º in about a half hour. It's very effective so long as the inside temperature isn't over 80º and outside is lower, in which case, I use the A/C instead. I know the fan is doing the job because last night, with the bedroom at 80º, I got it down to 73º and turned it off. Within 20 minutes, the temperature was back up to 76º. Back on with the fan and problem resolved! The fan is a tad noisy, but ear plugs solve that problem. read more

Sunlight Concepts came recommended by a colleague. I wanted to learn more about a solar garage ventilation fan, an attic ventilation fan and a whole hose fan. Marjorie explained everything and offered a solid warranty. The crew arrived on schedule and obviously knew what they were doing. The crew chief even told me I had plenty of attic ventilation already and didn't need a fan there. Installation was quick and professional. The crew was courteous. Everything works as advertised and has made a huge difference in keeping the house cooler. Well worth the cost. The remote control with timing features takes some figuring out but is really handy. However, there are some points you need to know: * You do need to open the doors and/or windows to allow cool air to enter when the fan is on. We set ours to turn off three hours after we go to bed, then turn it on again in the early morning for a few hours before leaving for work. * The garage ventilation fan helps keep the inside of the house cooler by keeping the garage cooler. You should consider having both. *The WORST thing you can do is leave your house fan running when you shut up your house on a hot day and leave for work. It will draw the hot air from the outside and the *really* hot air from the attic into your living space thru any openings or gaps where air can flow thru. I did that accidentally one time. Big mistake. House was like an oven when I got home and our dog had a miserable day. I felt terrible. It also causes excessive wear on the fan bearings. Now I have a 6:30AM turn-off time programmed in for every day. Bottom line: good product and good people. I recommend these guys. read more

"Let there be Light" and there was light! Thanks to Sunlight Concepts and a product they installed called a Solatube our dark hallway, laundry room and inside bathroom are all sparkling and gleaming on a sunny day. Where once there was darkness, now there is light. We are so thankful to Joseph and Muhammed for their efforts to center the sun roof as best they could considering the studs in the ceiling and other challenges. What I thought would take all day only took them about three hours. It averaged out to about an hour per solutube (as we had three installed). I would highly recommend an option called "Octoglass" if you are considering the solutube. The design is awesome and I think it is just a tiny bit brighter than the standard glass cover. Also, the nightlight is cool. Before solatubes our kids had to turn on two lights to go to the bathroom at night. At times these lights would stay on all night because they were half asleep. Now they can get out of bed and walk all the way to the bathroom and back with just the right amount of light. It's awesome! read more

These folks are a class act, very knowledgeable and expert work. They have the brightest sunlight tunnels with a lot of interior finishes and shapes (that don't look TACKY). May still work for solar tax credit and they save a lot of electricity for me. They make a room look so attractive/inviting - I am crazy for natural sunlight and I hate dark rooms. Besides new paint and crown molding, I think this is the cheapest way to improve a house for sale. You can also get a solar light put in so it becomes a night time light source. If it is in a bedroom, you can have a shade put in so you can darken it for a nap. They were originally recommended to me by posts on my local NextDoor. read more

We live in a planned community and Marjorie was wonderful in helping us navigate the the different approval processes, and necessary permits. she was always calm, humorous and patient. A team member then dropped by and showed us the various models and the possibilities for out bathroom. Pricing was quite competitive. On the day of install Joseph came out on the hottest day of the year, and approached the job with total professionalism and with nary a complaint or whimper. It must have been 110 in the attic!! Job was done in about 3 hrs and the bathroom looks wonderful. It is a complete improvement and the bright light with the little rainbow flashes just opens up the bathroom. read more

Sunlight concepts were friendly, came on time, and installed the sun tunnel beautifully. We were told in advance that Sunlight Concepts don't repatch the roof, so we called our roofing company to repatch the roof right after the installation. The roofer came on later the same day and the installation was completed. There was a problem however: There was a screw sticking out of the ceiling near the sun tunnel. I called Sunlight Concepts on the next day to ask their help with this problem, and the same person came right away to see. He told us that it's not his fault: The screws were too long, but he screwed them obliquely, so that they wouldn't penetrate. He said it was roofer's fault, tried to hammer the screw into the wood and when it didn't work, he left. Later, Ali, the manager, came and solved the problem by sawing off the screw. Now we enjoy the beautiful sun tunnel with no sticking screws. Overall I'm very happy with the beautiful sun tunnel that keeps enlightening our house. If you're planning to hire Sunlight Concepts for installing a sun tunnel in a foam roof, It is probably a good idea to have your roofer talk directly with Sunlight Concepts to sort out all the do's and don'ts regarding the required roof work. read more
