My solar inverter broke down so I had to replace it. Since it was under warranty Sunlux claimed it with Solaredge since they are the manufacturer of the inverter. However, Solaredge was very slow in getting me the new inverter replacement. Initially, they told me it will take 2-4 weeks to get it. A month and a half later still nothing. Every time I called Solaredge they gave me the run-around. Finally, Lorena Gutierrez from Sunlux stepped in and told me they can give me one of their new inverters first while I waited for my replacement and then give them my inverter once I received it. They came 2 days later and replace my inverter with a new one. I want to thank Lorena Gutierrez from Sunlux to do that for me. Now my solar is working great!! Kurtiss the crew lead was awesome and answered all my questions I had and walked me through the process of solar. He also did very well on the electrical. The roof lead Omar and his guys Ricardo & Alex on the other hand had done mediocre work. For 3 guys and licensed roofers I expected better work. There was a lot of debris left on roof, broken tiles exposing sheathing, solar panels not leveled and crooked. Glue and scratches on the solar panels themself. Expected better from sunlux. UPDATE: Kurtiss came back out and fixed all the roof issues and everything is perfect. He even painted the old vent stacks flashings which he didn't have too but still did to make the roof look better. read more

I contacted Sunlux along with several other companies when I was looking to add battery backup to our existing solar system. Sunlux recommended the latest version of the Tesla Power Wall and they offered the best pricing for the equipment and installation. It took about 2 months from start to completion. That included approved permit. The techs and support staff were all professional and knowledgeable. I could not be happier with the installation and the Tesla Power Wall. The Power Wall supplies all of our electrical needs through the night when there is no solar production. By morning it is a short time when it is back to 100% charged. We have had two power outages and the power wall took over. I am the only house on my street that has electricity. I can highly recommend this company for your solar battery backup needs. read more

I'm extremely disappointed in the fact that this company condones the behavior of its workers trespassing on someone's property. This company was not working on my property and I've never even heard of them until two weeks ago. Their worker drove by and saw a porta potty in my driveway (which is against my wall alllll the way up to my side gate) and decided to walk onto my property and use it for 25 minutes. This gentleman felt so comfortable to trespass with no regards to my husband, child or I coming out of the gate. It was very startling to know that someone off the street had randomly walked up to use it. If he's that comfortable to do that what else is he comfortable helping himself too. (FYI:Starbucks, Del Taco, Taco Bell all within a block) I called and spoke with a Brianna over the phone. I offered pictures of their worker to address the situation and she assured a manager would call me back. It's been two weeks so I felt the need to address the situation. If this is a reflection of the integrity of this company I would suggest you look elsewhere. read more

Got solar installed through Sunlux with no issues and they even installed some consumption meters for me for free. Fast forward 6 years and my wife discovered a water stain on our ceiling. It's been a nightmare trying to deal with it and Sunlux has not helped. The wife discovered the issue on May 13th. I called them on the following Monday, May 15th. They couldn't find my information so I forwarded them my contract. They said they lost it during a data migration. They took down my information and called me back 2 weeks later only after I followed up with them regarding status. Two technicians came out on June 5th in the morning but WAS scheduled for the afternoon. I wasn't even notified, they just showed up at my door. They took our hose to the roof and started to look for the leak. They couldn't find any so they asked me to turn it up. I turned it to max which I think is 5 gallons per minute. They found a leak in one of my Ohagen vents and said that the leak was due to that vent and that they were not at fault. I went up to the attic where the other technician was and saw the leak with my own eyes but it leak was 15-20 feet away from where the ceiling stain was! I was speaking to Lorena saying that that leak is not the cause of the water damage. She said that it was and that I needed to hire a roofer. I asked her aren't you guys roofers? It says solar and roof contractors on your truck. To find the leak, the panels needed to be removed. Sunlux came out July 3rd to remove them. Our roofer came July 6th to find and fixed the leak that day. Sunlux came back out July 21st to reinstall the solar. For some reason, they used one of the broken tiles I had lying around to replace another broken tile. I also noticed that there were 2 more broken tiles. The solar panels were put back but are not level. It doesn't affect productivity but that's not how it looked before they were taken off. And also the critter guard looks terrible as well. When we first got solar, they hired a company to install it and it looked great but now I think they are trying to install it themselves. I messaged Guillermo regarding these issues but have not heard anything other than that the critter guard clips are on backorder. The last I heard anything was on Aug 20th and as I write this review it's Sept 21st. At this point, I'm at a loss for words, I lost my trust and faith in Sunlux. They did take responsibility for the roof penetration leak although still felt very reluctant. Guillermo even came out to see the roofers fix the leak and still questioned how it could leak and when he left still said he needed to look at some pictures first. Sunlux did eventually take responsibility but the ordeal caused a lot of stress and anxiety. They did cut the check for the amount we had to pay our roofer but the fact that they're not addressing my other issues is why I'm writing up this follow-up review. At this point, I probably rather not have them on my roof possibly breaking more tiles. I just hope that there aren't any broken tiles under the panels because I wasn't able to watch them put the panels back. But I'm guessing there is because I found some other broken tiles around the solar panels that they haven't said they will fix either. It's concerning that my concerns and issues were not addressed a whole 2 months after reinstallation and there was that rare tropical storm that happened about a month ago. read more

SunLux was slow in helping me resolve the initial complication caused by one of their primary manufacturing associates going out of business. Now they have complications working with SCE to finalize my installation. I have called SunLux several times and spoken with Gabriel Benko - director of operations. He was very irritable, rude, and said there was nothing he could do to help. When I asked questions to understand, he got angry and hung up. Be forewarned about their poor customer service. I was promised a 1000 bonus in July 2024 if I signed up for instillation. We will see if they keep that promise but I have my doubts. read more

Biggest disappointment and damage that I ever seen! I'd like to say this is the most honest review that I ever wrote, please please make sure to read through before you make your decision, unless you have money to waste. They installed fully paid solar panels 3 years ago to our roof and our Roof started to leak from ceiling just under the solar panels. I called them to come and check it out. It took 2-3 months to someone to come and check. Their own technician told me that roof underlayment is entirely dry, more than 25 years old and it's cracking around solar panel brackets, and he said that he tried to put roof leak sealant around them but he wasn't optimistic since he thought all the bracket are in the same state. Then I asked him why did you even install the solar panels on the old roof without warning us at the first place! No answer, he told me to talk to company about it. I texted and emailed them many many times (more than 20 times at least) to get an answer for my question, they kept ignoring me, and never replied to my repair request. I also requested from few local Roof companies to take a look at our roof and they all said the same thing, they shouldn't have installed the solar system without replacing underlayment, period. I'm also attaching some photos to show you to damage. At the end, I ended up contracting with roof company that they will remove all the panels and re-build the roof. We're talking about $30,000. (roof repair) + we'll see what is being also damaged once the solar panels are removed + interior damage (significant amount of drywalls needs to be removed including some kitchen cabinets). TL:DR; if you want to save some money, you either not install any solar panels or go and find a company reputable and stays their warranty. Quick Note: The wall water damage that you see coming from solar panels area, there are ceiling lights in the kitchen located just under the solar panels, when it rains water starts dripping from the lights first, then moves down to the walls since the angle of the roof and rafters guiding the water to come down to the side walls. read more

I contacted SunLux and one of the other major solar companies. Both companies offered nearly the same major brand package for the panels, converters and battery. I wanted to purchase the system instead of a lease-back or similar package. The other company could not pivot away from their standard offer. SunLux quickly responded with an excellent top-rated system from several top suppliers. As an engineer, I had a lot of questions. They answered all of the questions and gave me numerous options on the number of panels, etc. I ended up going with their initial recommended number of panels & system. They recommended replacing the roof and offered a competitive price and product. I had a couple of independent quotes and SunLux was very competitive. They put together the package required for my HOA and all of the permits. Each of the groups; roofers, electricians, solar installers were great to work with on scheduling and access. Erika Garcia was my Project Manager and made sure that everything flowed quickly and smoothly. Joey was the point man for all of the permit inspections and handling the programming & testing of the system. Such a great team to work with on the project. My solar system has been running for several months now and I could not be happier with the roof, the solar system and my interaction with the SunLux Team. To be fair, the first half of the process was great. During the sales portion, loan process, and initial scheduling, everything went smoothly. Everything fell apart once the install started. Keep in mind, it's super unlike me to make a negative review like this, (especially one this detailed) but I was beyond disappointed with Sunlux. I feel like a curmudgeon writing this, but I assure you I'm n During the meter replacement, the worker installing the new meter told me there was obsolete wiring near the meter and asked if I wanted it reinstalled even though it was inactive. Turns out, that wiring was my internet connection. When I approached the project manager for some resolution, he told me I approved it and I was on my own to fix it. Awesome. Technically, he's right but I had no clue what the installer was pulling out! I repaired it myself, but just temporarily so I have internet. Second, the power was off from 8:30AM until almost 10PM. I was told several times that they were working on it, but finally ended up calling Edison to schedule my own appointment. When I spoke with Edison, they had no record of any work order being placed to have the power turned back on at my address. I'm not sure the power would have made it back on that night at all if I hadn't made my own appointment. The crew left trash in my garage, trash on the front lawn, trash on the driveway, and a few of my neighbors complained about all the trash Sunlux left that blew over onto their yards. There were cut cable pieces, wires, screws, and pieces of cardboard everywhere, not to mention the drywall they left all over the ground. Two of my neighbors also complained about the extremely loud foul language that the workers on the roof were using throughout the day. I can testify to that because I heard it too. I'm no prude when it comes to language, but I have two small kids at home and it was embarrassing exposing the other kids and families on my block to that behavior. The wiring looks sloppy, most specifically the ground wires which the company ran to my natural gas line and cold water line. These ground wires were just hanging around my garage; it amazed me how little the installer cared about how these huge grounds were run! Someone showed up today from Sunlux (unannounced) so I asked him to fix the ground wires and he routed them to make things slightly more organized. Three times over the past few weeks someone has shown up from Sunlux unannounced. They seemed surprised that nobody had contacted me for an appointment. I was surprised each time too... I have no clue who is coming, when someone is coming, or when I should expect certain aspects of the job to be completed. I have to be the one to reach out to my project manager just to figure out what's going on. You definitely get the feeling that once you sign the papers, they couldn't care less about what happens because they already have your money. Overall, if I could do it again, I'd 100% go with a different company. I'm sure they have good crews that do solid work, but I wasn't lucky enough to get one. We've had Sunlux panels for several years now. It is so difficult to get help from them with problem panels. A whole month will go by without updates or responses from their support team, despite multiple followup emails throughout the month, asking for an update. We have two inverters (out of the 9 we have at our site - an HOA condo complex) that we discovered haven't generated ANY electricity since **2021**. That is 3 years. They clearly have not been monitoring. Now that I've brought it to their attention, it's been over a month since I've heard from them, and still haven't heard back with any status on when I can expect to have this fixed. The last update I received wasn't given until I called their office and complained to someone else (not the tech I'd been working with). Meanwhile, I have home owners asking me and the rest of our HOA board why we're spending so much on electricity when we are already paying for solar to lower those costs. Install experience was probably great (done before my time) but getting them to reimburse for lost electricity or even just prevent us from losing too much electricity in a year with proactive monitoring, let alone giving us updates on open tickets is a nightmare. I would think twice before signing a contract with this company. If you have issues with your equipment at some point down the road, you may very well end up wanting to rip your hair out working with Sunlux. read more

I had a Sunlux system installed 2 years ago. During the initial design phase I asked for a system that produced 120% of the needs for my 3k sq ft home because I live in the desert and was planning a renovation for more sq footage. Gary Lupo and Mike Valencia were the designer and sales lead who recommended a 13kw system and assured me it was more than enough. Well from day 1 it was not. The 1st year in the house I had a $5k true up from SCE! I repeatedly called Sunlux, Gary and Mike and was told I needed to give it the full year because the system would make up for the overruns in the summer and it most certainly did not. I have gone back and forth with Gary, Mike and their support team for the past year asking that they honor the platinum service guarantee since the system is not producing what I asked. I was told the system is producing 13kw and that's what it was designed for regardless of what I wanted. At this point Sunlux customer support turned it back over to Mike Valencia who has not responded to any emails or phone calls. I have replaced doors, added a whole house fan, more insulation all to try to make the system work and will still have a $3k true up this year. My only choice now is to add more panels myself since sunlux has no intent to honor their guarantee which will cost me significantly more than 2 years ago. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. Sunlux is big on promises but terrible on delivery and execution of those promises. If you decide to use this company anyway, stay away from Gary Lupo and Mike Valencia, they are frauds. read more

After much back and forth Sunlux still refuses to answer a basic question. Why after I told them that my solar was down did it take well over two months to come and fix it. I am a confirmed customer and it did in fact take them well over 2 months to care enough to come fix it. My solar is back up and running but again, after install they simply no longer care. Id give them a 5 star review at install but all solar has issues and if they are unwilling to come and fix things then its a 1 star review. Sunlux in the comment below- "I know you keep insisting we wouldn't go out for 2 months, but that required you to purchase the upgrade before we could schedule it." This is proof that an upgrade was needed! Per multiple phone calls and emails this meter was not needed. Why was my solar down? Nothing to do with this meter that was not mandatory is what they keep saying, yet in the words above it says "required before we could schedule". Funny how a non mandatory meter had to be purchased before they would fix my solar being down. read more

After a couple of years of contemplating solar and receiving a number of quotes, we decided to go with SunLux for our solar system. They were not the very cheapest (but close), but I felt that Tracy Woodburn, our sales consultant, really listened to our needs and not only was confident in SunLux's ability to deliver, but communicated this without a lot of heavy pressure like another large company did (via a large membership store). I also liked that much of the initial discussion and evaluation was done over the phone and email after Tracy viewed our home on GoogleEarth. None of the other companies were willing to do as much without meeting with us in our home where the heavy sales pressure was started. We initially spoke about 20 panels, but the original design only had 19. I contacted Tracy who immediately took it back to the design team, and very quickly we had a plan with 20 panels. I appreciated that Tracy hadn't over-promised and also that he stood by his word and made sure we got what we had asked for. Everybody who came to our house for the installation was professional, polite, and highly skilled. The work that was done looks beautiful. We ended up needing a new electric panel and we were not charged any additional fee. The city then said the panel needed to be moved, and SunLux quickly sent out a team to do this. Again, no additional fee, no grumbling, and beautiful work. We had a change in Project Managers partway through the job, and Tracy Woodburn remained a point of contact throughout so that whenever I had a question or concern, he made sure that I got the answer. At the very end of the project there was some miscommunication about a 220 outlet that we wanted installed. It is entirely possible that the misunderstanding was on my end, and not on the end of the company, but SunLux honored my understanding of the agreement and completed that installation. We've only had one full month of operation, but the system overproduced for that one month, which is easy to track with the software and website they signed me up with. Would I recommend SunLux? Absolutely! I'm not sure if the other sales staff remain as involved as Tracy did, but I would recommend that you ask for him, as he really made the process much smoother from start to finish! read more

SunLux was appointed to me to complete the larger than normal project for my home. They installed 48 panels, both batteries, hub and most of the electrical due to the actual company that I went through is apparently going through "restructuring". Short back story: (shortest way I can put it without boring you with details and stress).... I was really excited to get solar for my home. I had the electric panel upgraded and an installation date shortly afterwards. Everything was moving along smoothly. Unfortunate I was already being told that there would be multiple installation dates due to a back order of parts. I was still ok with it because I was so excited. Then bang. The company I am using is having issues and the installation date was put on hold. My excitement for solar went to poo. So, I called and called to get some answers. However, all I was told was that someone would be following up to be the new point of contact for my project. Here enters SunLux. Their PM did warn me that it would take some time to get all the inspections, pictures, and documents from the company to proceed. I can only imagine the load info they had to gather and sift through to get a handle on this. Present Day: From start to finish SunLux took this project on and didn't skip a beat. When I say didn't miss a beat, I mean all timelines were met or exceeded. There weren't any delays of material. They covered, painted, labeled, and cleaned up. Which is a tough thing for many companies these days. The simple things get overlooked, but they did it. I was given a wonderful walk through of the system and all my questions were answered. I know the panels are not in operation yet, but my excitement for getting solar is back because of SunLux. Even the city inspector complimented the system and the knowledgeable walk through for approval. I should have picked SunLux from the start. read more

We purchased solar panels from Sunlux in 2018 and 2 years later the inverter had to be replaced. We just received a bill from SCE this month for $4300 and found out that the inverter was not producing electricity since early February. We were told that the system would be monitored by solar edge and were never notified by Sunlux or Solar's Edge that the system was not producing. I called and was sent an email 3 days later saying to reset the system. That didn't work, so they told me to contact the installer. The installer was someone from Sunlux. Still trying to get to figure this out. Now we are stuck with paying a solar payment, a $4300 bill, and the cost to fix the system ourselves? DO NOT USE SUNLUX. Read other comments. I have a property in Mission Viejo and have a complicated 30 year clay tile roof. We contacted Sunlux, Sunpower, Sunrun and Tesla for solar panel quotes and Tesla for solar roof. Tesla took a couple of weeks to tell me that they will not install panels on clay tiles, designed an 11.4kw solar roof but placed 2.7 kw of active tiles on the north facing panes. I asked for a redesign 2 weeks ago and am still waiting. I don't think they can do it to be honest. As far as solar panel quotes, Sunlux came out as the least expensive, the best system, the best warranty and will take care of replacing the underlayment for a very reasonable price so I don't have to call a separate roofer. Michael agreed to an upgrade from 2 layers of 30# felt to 2 layers of synthetic SBS-modified asphalt underlayment for the same price. Their system is based on state of the art high efficiency panels from LG with built-in microinverters so the 25 year manufacturer warranty includes the inverters (the most likely hardware to fail and only has a 10 year warranty from all the other installers). Unlike all the other installers, Sunlux offers a production guarantee of so many kwh/yr so they have a vested interest in monitoring the system output to watch for any failures or unexpected decrease in production. They also allow the customer to monitor system production down to the panel level so if any panel were to fail the installer and/or manufacturer warranty can be exercised. This is not possible with any system using string inverters such as Tesla. Their roof leak warranty is 15 years instead of the industry standard 10 years. It's comforting to know although with 2 layers of SBS-modified asphalt underlayment I am not too worried. Their customer service seems to be top notch from reading all the reviews on Yelp and Consumer Affairs. Their prices are very competitive. If you decide on Powerwall storage they will go the extra mile to apply for the SGIP program and get the state rebate for you. Highly recommended! read more

I don't have the patience to wait anymore especially when they don't have common decency of replying. They were prompt when getting your business, but makes you wait when something needs to be repaired. We installed level 2 chargers from the start but never used it since we didn't have a EV at the time. Now that we got a EV and found out the charger doesn't work. Contacted service and they told me to "register my ev cable?" Is that even a valid question? Does any EV need to register their cable in order to use it to charge? We followed their instructions to test our friends' cable and still doesn't work at our house and used our cable at their house and it works. First you have to wait 3-5 days for someone to be assigned to your case. Then the support only replies by email at best in 4 hours or 24 hours or right now more than 24 hours. If this is how I treat my customers, I'd lost all of them by now. To be fair, there are other staffs during the sales and installation that were great. But with this experience, there's no way I will recommend them to any of my friends. I hope someone in the high position of the company sees this. This really would hurt your company in the long run. We are producing clean energy! When we decided to go solar, our most important decision was to go with a company that would stand behind their work, the products they installed, and provide unparalleled customer service. After researching many companies we decided to go with Sunlux, and we are glad we did. We believe the true test of a company shows up when "hurdles" are thrown at them... Demands from solar panel manufacturers onto solar companies making solar panel sourcing difficult, to working with "demanding" city permitting and building & safety departments, and of course the whole Covid-19 issue that everyone has had to deal with. Through it all, Sulux had our back. I can't speak for the city you live in, but I would say by far, working though our city's permitting and building & safety departments were the most challenging aspect of our project. Our city has the most nit-picky reviewers, which at times I believe that their goal is to reject, reject, and then reject again, solar plans, all while our contractor (Sunlux) is doing their best to provide corrections, updates, and information requested by our city's permitting departments. Sunlux hung in there, and got our system approved (which was no small feat!) Once approved, it took about two months to get an installation date (the whole industry is currently being "pounded" with everyone trying to go solar to take advantage of the tax credit). Once we got our installation date, our system was installed in two days, then it was city inspected and passed 22 days later, then it was commissioned the following day, and we have been producing clean energy ever since! From the system design and options selection process (thank you Jerry Hong) through coordination and oversite of our project (thank you Berlyn Yamas), Sunlux as a company kept us informed, responded to our city's numerous requests for design details and specifications, and kept us on track even through these "Covid times". All personnel that we contacted were safety conscious, respectful of our home and property, and most of all considerate. We would not hesitate to recommend Sulux to anyone considering a solar system, they are truly a standup company! read more
