We visited Sunny Grove Brewing Company for the first time on a recent Sunday. We arrived around 11:00 AM. The L-shaped bar was about a quarter full. The space is really great. Inside and out on the patio. They have a very nice and large bar top. The place is quite large with an open and airy feel. Definitely cool brewery vibes. The bathroom was really impressive; huge and spotlessly clean. They have a great selection of beers on tap from light to IPA. Stouts, darks - a beer for everybody. Beer only right now. I enjoyed a very tasty Mexican Lager (La Bamba). Becky begrudgingly enjoyed one as well. She no longer drinks beer. She lost nearly 50 pounds by switching to low carb, low calorie seltzers a few years ago. That was our only disappointment, no seltzers. Not even in cans in the cooler. If we ever return, she'll have to bring her own. Sunny Grove does not have a kitchen, but they do host a different food truck or pop-up nearly every day. I am glad that this local brewery space did not remain idle for too long after Pacific Islander Brewing moved out (RIP). Welcome new decor changes and a removed partition wall provided additional bar area and table seating. The open concept, also pet & family friendly, lets us see the brewing tanks while providing a neat backdrop and unique space for the Trivia Night host. The front patio space has ample picnic table seats in addition to a front entrance area for pop-up eatery/food truck vendor to sell snackable bites. Such a great local spot in the neighborhood. What stood out to me the most was that the staff was so friendly and outgoing. You could tell they enjoyed working there and being around customers, which makes for a great experience for all. I am not really a beer drinker, but she encouraged me to try a few different types and to my surprise I ordered an IPA which I would have never done on my own! Super lucky to have such a great brewery that's out in the east side of SD. It's located in a business/industrial area but don't let that fool you. They're making very interesting styles of beer and the space is very open and inviting. We got there on a Friday around 4 and it was busy but we were able to find a spot right away. They have an outdoor patio in the front and a large indoor seating area. Dogs are allowed throughout the space. I got the fogged in (hazy IPA) and my partner got the goombah (Italian pilsner). Both were very refreshing and very good flavor. Prices are right as well. We'll be back! read more

Great little place in the back of the warehouse. You can check out all the equipment that they brew the beer. They have TVs up on the walls that you can watch the sport game on, while you are waiting for the homemade pizza being cooked outside. A place where the locals know about and have a good time. Place has a ton of potential. Pretty spacious brewery. They have one TV (hopefully they get more) and an outdoor area out front to hang out. On a Sunday they had 4 choices of beer to choose from. I went with a pale ale. They sell other items here like Mexican Coke. I'm assuming their menu will eventually expand so there should be more choices in the future. Jandals is a delicious IPA that's packed with citrus flavors and very refreshing for an IPA and not overly bitter and perfect for summer. Jubilee hits different! So good, so refreshing and light! It's an everyday every occasion beer. If I ran 30 mile this would beer I'd want to drink after or after a long day of work this would be a go to. hahaha. The staff are really cool and friendly. I challenge you to post the video because cameras don't lie! But I will recap our private conversation. I entered your brewery with my two frenchies and 1 year old German Shepherd and there was a man buying a beer with his small dog in his arms. That little dog went nuts in his arms barking at my dogs. The guy turns around and says Sorry my dog hates frenchies. Then the bearded bartender looked at me with a look of disgust and said I couldn't be in there with my dogs. I asked him for a bowl of water which he supplied and I walked outside and sat on the curb in front of your brewery. I felt like a homeless man with his dogs outside in the heat. I waited there until my wife picked us up. We later went down to Mike Hess's brewery in Imperial Beach which was amazing 5 Stars for sure and my dogs and I were welcomed there. See I love breweries and frequent them often because I know the beer business is not easy. But instead of apologizing for your staff, you went on to try to discredit me and my review. So like I told you before I will never ever spend a dollar at your place! read more

Wonderful! We came here on Saturday after a disappointing experience somewhere else and man what a great relief. It was a little hot outside but the tasting room was very comfortable. Our servers were very nice and friendly and they even had fooseball for our kids. We tried the IPA and nitro beer and both were very good. Highly recommend this new brewery and thankful to have it near home. read more

Love the beer. Happy to see a new brewery crushing in Santee. Really enjoyed coming here, it just seems that every time I'm here the skippy brunette with bangs behind the bar is always talking trash about another local brewery she used to work at. She never directly spoke to me about it, but sitting in there you hear things. And I just get tired of hearing her constantly talking negative- I'm here for beer and a good time and maybe I might go check out Burning Beard next regardless of the shit talk.
