Very disappointed with my experience here. It took nearly 10 minutes for anyone to even acknowledge me, my girlfriend, her mom, and my mom after we arrived. Once we were finally helped, the waitress had a nasty attitude and made the whole experience uncomfortable. The food was decent, but the customer service completely ruined the visit. They advertised a police officer discount that only said you had to show ID. I showed my credentials, and then the lady suddenly said I had to be in uniform to receive the discount. That was never stated beforehand and felt very misleading and dishonest. The overall vibe was uncomfortable, unfriendly, and unwelcoming. The only person who actually treated us with kindness and professionalism was Georgie, and I truly appreciate her help. Other than Georgie, the experience was very disappointing. read more

The place has a diner feel which is adorable. Our waitress was the sweetest. The drinks were delicious and there was a lot of variety. I dined here about 6 months ago and I think this is a decent greasy spoon, type diner. I love the 50s look of it with retro diner bar stools, tables, and chairs. It was quaint. I ordered only unhealthy things. I first ordered a very sugar filled hot chocolate with cool whip on top. Then I ordered a very messy and breakfast sandwich, but instead of bread as the sandwich part, it was waffles. Holy Mole! It was probably 8 million calories, but I enjoyed it. I am glad that I am able to order such unhealthy things like this because it seems like most places cater to health food or maybe are too afraid to put things like this on the menu. So, kudos to yall. It is a rather large menu, so you are bound to find something you like. They serve breakfast and lunch till about 3pm. Plenty of parking outside. The only pet peeve I had is that the waitress barely checked on us and wasn't really visible to try to signal. I am a thirsty girl and my water was never re-filled or even asked if I wanted a refill when she did finally check in on us. We did smell Moko someone smoking in there not sure who, but this is the second time we went in and smelled smoke. I would've given it five stars however, there's someone that works there with sausage fingers with blisters on them. She coughed in her hand and continue to pick up plates out of the window. I wish I took a photo of my food but I wasn't expecting the food to be as delicious as it was! We are definitely returning. We had the chicken and waffles and the Grilled skillet with a ribeye. Everything was fresh and cooked perfectly. Sometimes you expect low budget food and lack luster service when visiting a diner however this was the opposite. Friday 3/14/25 I placed a delivery order for shrimp and cheese grits with fried fish. The food was horrible. The grits was watery with no seasoning or butter, the shrimp tasted raw. We passed by Sunny Side up on a Sunday afternoon around 2pm. This is a new diner style restaurant by Elmwood off of Citrus. At this time of day about every restaurant in the Elmwood area is packed, but Sunny Side Up was only 1/4 full and we easily found a table. They serve breakfast all day and we ordered the Country Fried Steak and Silorin breakfast both with eggs sunny side up. Both the country fried steak, the sirloin and our eggs were cooked perfectly and served with no unnecessary delays. My only issue with the restaurant is I have a limited appetite so I plan to visit again so I can try out their other breakfast and lunch options. I highly recommend Sunny Side Up for their great breakfast menu, great service and hassle free dining away from the usual NOLA breakfast & brunch crowds. read more

I was expecting the pecan French toast to be more than French toast with some pecans thrown on top, but that is what it is. Still, the French toast was really good and satisfied my craving. Mine did not come with powdered sugar but I'm okay with just syrup on my French toast. The sides were pretty good. I'm so happy they offer turkey bacon. It's amazing how many places only offer regular, pork bacon in 2020. The eggs and potatoes were a bit under-seasoned, but they were still good enough to eat. Sunny side up is a meet me at the spot! For starters, very impressive menu! The first thing I ordered was a banana milkshake to complement my daughters Oreo milkshake on Father's Day! I loved it, I don't know how fresh it was but it definitely taste that way. Next, I ordered biscuits and gravy. I loved it with the sausage over top. Grits and eggs done well I loved that it wasn't seasoned and they had the salt and pepper.
