    Gumbo is delicious

Yes, my new spot on the Westbank for Gumbo, Potato Salad and breakfast. The food at Sweet Sadies is good. This is a hidden staple on the Westbank. Check them out. Fish on Fridays.

    Ooey gooey dessert

Let's just say I don't mind eating breakfast for brunch and dinner too! Sadie's OOEY GOOEY dessert melts in your mouth! It's a buttery brown sugar marshmallow something that makes you smile from the inside out. The edges are crunchy, but they too will melt in your mouth if you're patient.

Comfortable but classy atmosphere, with football on the TV in the dining room. (Welcome to Louisiana!) Owner took our drink and food orders (we were ready! - we had already previewed the menu on Yelp) and everything was delivered quickly. Husband had the Smokey Mountain Burger ($16), medium, with fries. The fries were crispy and the burger was so good! I'm not a big burger fan, but it was cooked just right and had plenty of flavor. I opted for the Thai riblets app ($14) which was served with a small side of their slaw and the "fried" Brussel sprouts app ($10). O...M...G! The sprouts came with a side dressing of mayo/lemon/garlic (?), of which I was not a fan; eat them plain - you'll be glad you did. Slaw was great - not too much mayonnaise - but I scraped off the seasoning topping because it was too salty for me. Thai riblets were fall-off-the-bone good without being over seasoned/sauced. We finished my husband's burger then took my leftovers home. They reheated very well. It's not the cheapest place, but we felt like we got our money's worth from our meal and would totally return. There's some other things on that menu calling our names. :)

And I'm ashamed to admit how much the salad that was almost all spinach leaves with exactly 5 shrimp (added on for $10, my bad for not asking how many were included but come on) cost me in total. So. I'm sure other people dig this place, they've been around a long time, but nah.

They were fabulous performers. The staff was fun and friendly, it wasn't really their fault with the problems that follow. The bad: For noon reservations for drag brunch, they were not ready at all. It was $35 a person for the reservation. It seems a bit steep, however the show was good. When I say they weren't ready, they really were on a struggle bus. We had a couple cocktails and I believe every one else had the $25 bottomless mimosas. However, they didn't have the champagne in stock so many people had to wait for a drink. And once they for them, it was hard to keep their glasses full with the lack of staff. We ordered food and it took FOREVER! I mean, we almost left because all we had in our stomach was coffee from the morning and a couple cocktails. Let me remind you that our reservation was for noon. We did not get our food until 2:30. I was getting quite nauseated. I ordered the chicken and French toast, I asked for no maple syrup but it was doused in it. It was ok. I ate the chicken. TL:DR- cocktails were good, the show was good. They needed more staff and the food was meh. EDIT: Our credit cards were charged and the money refunded and additional charges were placed on our card.

Our server, Christopher, was very attentive, suggested wine pairings, and gave us great recommendations. We started with the charbroiled oysters which is a must. They were large and charred to perfection on the outside grill, topped with parm and breadcrumbs. My friends ordered the filet and the gulf fish, and I had the charred cabbage entree, with a French gerwurztraminer blend. The mushrooms with the blue cheese sauce were so rich and delicious! Sweet treats were a no brainer. The blue cheese flan was creamy and decadent. A perfect ending to the meal. This is so far my fave restaurant in New Orleans. The moment you step into Atchafalaya, you realize it. Ambience is amazing, quirky, cool, homey and cozy. Staff is amazing. We sat in our own private room and were treated to a very special delight of a dinner. I tried the incredible fried green tomatoes, the seafood soup (?) and the incredible steak...wow, everything was amazing. And not only did Chef Christopher Lynch come out to say hello to my Autistic son but the owner Tony Tocco did as well and it made his day! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

Here's what I got: *Crispy Cauliflower: Had a nice hot kick to it and exploding with flavor. You got your cilantro, you chili oil, green onion, and a bit of cabbage. You get delicious notes of curry, lemon mascarpone, tomato sauce and it's not super acidic. *Cheesecake: Surprise sweet ending! Good thing I saved room for this soft, fluffy, and decadent dessert with strawberry topping. All of the flavors in each dish meshed perfectly together without any overpowering. It's a super cool, modern atmosphere with a very comfortable yet /modern feel. On this trip, we had the Charred Artichoke, which came out with perfect char yet tender hearts. Tasty with an onion/garlicky cream sauce. We had two show stoppers...1. Crispy Cauliflower is in a green-onion/chili-oil/harissa-type red slather. Sooooo good! Then, the VERY BEST 2. Avocado Panzanella: the best I've ever had in America and my best panzanella period! That says a lot as I LOVE them in restaurants globally, including Southern Tuscany/the Isle of Sicily. It's an avocado lover's dream, with plenty of this star ingredient of many chunks of avocado(zero skipping here!), crunchy bread pieces, sun-dried tomatoes, etc., in a creamy, slightly hot honey vinaigrette (I believe). There is a Bay Scallop Aracini we have to try next time. It sounds Great! I LOVE a Bolognese because it takes 12-16 hours to cook/smolder/meld. The Bower takes such time & it's very apparent they care to smother it with plenty of porky and beefy goodness. Amazing entree‼ Lastly, our dessert was a Dark Chocolate-type tort. Not sure if it's "flourless," so I don't want to say that in case you're on a flourless diet. But, if you can, it's fantastic. Thankfully... Not too sweet at all. It's perfect, and I'm not even a typical chocolate person. Pls geaux...youll be very satiated!!!
