Found this place on google or Yelp, it's an Irish bar so it's good deals on Jameson and Tullymore Dew My experience was okay except when the bartender has issues with my card and when he did it again he loudly said it didn't go there, there is no money on it!! I was like it never gave broke. It gave security alert. So it got rude really quick. Besides that we stayed and ordered the hotdog which was banging it was more of a grilled sausage, and we got the Nola Gold wings, pretty good and kind of large for a wingette. Nice little Irish Pub dive that takes Irish roots seriously but also cheeky enough to have fun with it. Servers are always attentive and polite. They have a kitchen window New Orleans dive bar style, and it's really good bar food. Recommend the Danger Dog, a long hot dog wrapped in bacon and deep fried with jalapeños, drizzled perfectly with spicy ketchup and mustard. Pretty nice bar sized pool table usually available, in a generally laid back atmosphere if it isn't Friday or Saturday early evening when it does get a little crowded with tourists and students, or certain sporting events or St Patrick's Day when I hear there's a pretty big block party. Speaking of sports, I love that they gravitate more towards "alternative sports" than American football. If you follow me on Yelp, you know my co-worker Brendan has a habit of dragging us to random spots--and I'm usually skeptical. When we pulled up, I legit thought we were at someone's house. But I really should start trusting Brendan more because this place was amazing. It has that true hometown bar vibe, which was such a nice change of pace after the chaos of Bourbon Steet. They even have board games in the back! It's cozy, unpretentious, and just plain fun. The drinks were cheap, strong, and delicious (get the frozen Irish coffee...seriously, it's everything). I love this place. Good, reasonably priced drinks and excellent food from Finn's Kitchen too!! I love the garlic parmesan fries they have, and the frozen Irish coffee is also incredible. There are plenty of TVs, some pool tables, and darts to keep you entertained if thats your thing. Service is always friendly and timely, never had a bad experience!! Also, I think it's worth mentioning the bathroom is probably the nicest, cleanest bar bathroom I've ever stepped foot in (the women's at least, not sure about the mens haha). My boyfriend says it's one of the best places in the city to watch a game. Premier League, friendly bartenders, fun-loving patrons - classic sports bar! Don't be afraid to scream, shout and yell at every goal (or miss!) because everyone else will be doing the same right along with you! We tried the: *Spicy fried chicken sandwich ($12.50) *Fried fish sandwich ($12.50) *Fries, for which I might add, it's WELL worth the extra dollar for the bacon, cheese, ranch upgrade ($8.50) The food was fantastic! When traveling, one of the first things I do is look up the local Liverpool bar. My search led me to Finn McCools and our experience was immaculate. We arrived 1.5 hours before the match and were able to snag a good seat outside near a TV, sound system on. You order drinks at the bar and food at the food window. We had the burger, chicken sandwich, wings (HUGE) and a wedge salad - all great. Really great, friendly vibes all around and fun to sit outside and enjoy the neighborhood. read more

Fun crowd, lots of rugby and EPL fans - if I lived nearby I would be here all the time. A very decent pint of Guinness as well! Some friends and i visited this spot on their Monday trivia night. Not sure why i havent been here before but i enjoyed this neighborhood bar. It felt inviting as soon as i walked in. I could tell many of the patrons were regulars. I loved that the bartenders actually come around the bar to take drink orders...instead of us having to yell drink orders from behind a crowd like we r on the stock trading floor! We ordered the empanadas and parmesan fries..fries were tasty but empanada was a bit lackluster. We all have done a few trivia events together but this one was hard as sh**...we had fun bc we enjoy each others company but probably wont attend the trivia night. Not bc it was super hard but bc they actually devoted a whole round to insects.... Definitely a bar worth revisiting. read more

In town from NJ and stopped in to watch the champions league match for Liverpool vs Madrid. While the outcome of the game was less than ideal, I highly recommend this quintessential Irish pub! It may be wrong but I am doing it. I think I get credit for warning you as to why. This 5 stars is based solely on the frozen Irish Coffee and the fact that the place used to be run by the proprietors of Treo which I love although not as much as Emily L. SO is this a review based on the entirety of what you may experience at Finn McCool's nah. Not even close. If you are looking for THE place to go when it is warm outside, early in the day, and you happen to want to drink sorta on the sly, this is it. They have abundant outdoor seating and the have the perfect drink for early in the day... the Frozen Irish Coffee. It says "yes I may eventually get buzzed but that isn't my goal, I'm just trying to stay cool and alert." The mixer has the right amount of ice to liquid so that if you partake slowly you are ok. You won't end up with a diluted mess. It is served in Styrofoam, which I am not a fan but that is really my only comment. So yes they have other bar stuff like tvs and darts and pool tables and bartenders. I know nothing of those things and don't care. This review is for Yelp event "My House NOLA Presents: Labor Day Food Truck Extravaganza". I'll preface this review by stating that I love food trucks, as they have such a cool vibe about them. This event was from 5:00 PM - 11:00 PM and we showed up at 6:00 PM and everything was already in full swing. Parking was typical "Mid -City nightmarish" but after circling the block 3 times, we lucked out and got a front row spot directly across the street from the bar's entrance. Normally I do not mind walking a few blocks for cool event, but I had an 18 month old in tow and it was still hot, so I wanted to be close. In fact it proved a little too hot for him so my wife & he stayed in the air conditioned car while I visited the food trucks. Here's what we got: Boo Koo BBQ - The brisket sandwich came on a pistolette and we scarfed it down so quickly that we didn't even get a snapshot of it. The meat was seasoned perfectly and had a great smoky flavor without being overloaded witgh sauce. The gouda mac-n-cheese was a real treat. Even though it looked "run of the mill", the flovors were intensely "cheesy", in a good way. The wait time here was approximately 10 minutes. Crepes A la Carte - We ordered a bacon & nutella crepe as this seemed very popular. The wait time was 15-20 minutes and we had long finished our BBQ and were looking for a sweet component to our meal. As I handed over the crepe to my wife for the 1st bite, she immediately notified me that we were given the wrong crepe and instead got a banana & nutella crepe. Don't get me wrong, as it was delicious. However it was not what we ordered but there was no way I was going back in that line that was growing by the minute. The NOLA truck - I opted for the crawfish grilled cheese and was told my sandwich would be 20 minutes. I thought that was a little long, but appreciated the heads up before I paid. I was number 29 and they were serving # 17. 30 minutes later they were only serving # 22 and stopped taking orders after # 49 as they were selling out of everything. After a 45 minute wait, they finally called my # and apologized for the wait (sincerely). The sandwich was a uber rich grilled cheese with spicy crwfish in every bite. It was worth the $7.00 as it was delicious, but it was not worth the wait. However, while we were waiting, I went inside Finn McCool's for the 1st time and was immediately taken in by the "cool factor". On the advice of the cool customers in front of me at the bar, I ordered a frozen Irish coffee for the wife. Made with Jameson & Bailey's and topped with whip cream, chocolate syrup and green (Irish) sprinkles this hit the spot (according to her) on a hot day. In the interest of Yelping, I took a sip and can verify her claims that this was a great drink. Can't wait to go back with a designated driver so I can enjoy one for myself. Due to time constraints, we were unable to try Frencheeze, Foodie Call or NOLA girl, as we had to get our son home. Overall, the event was a great success. However, waiting 20-45 minutes for a food truck order is unacceptable. We waited 2 hours to get the few items that we were able to get. I would suggest arrving early and placing multiple food orders at each truck to guarantee a timely order. I would also advise the food truck owners who happen to read this review to search ways to streamline thier process so they can satisfy their customers AND make more $$. Lastly, I still love a food truck and would definitely do it again. read more

We drove two hours out of our way to go for some St. Patty's day fun, we got there at 1:30 and waited for 30 minutes for them to open at 2, at 2 someone came up to us and said they made the call not open cause of Covid restrictions. I totally get it, but they could have put that on their website, and we wouldn't have gone out of our way to go there. The beer was great, ...the food, not so much. This is definitely a comfortable neighborhood pub. The bartenders know their stuff. The staff was really friendly too. We went there for supper and found the menu very limited. I had the fish and chips. The fish was three small pieces of heavily breaded cod, served with about 10 pounds of fries. The fries were hand tossed in something that didn't add to their flavor. The brisket sandwich was the high point. The generous sandwich was sweet and tasty. The poppers were apparently frozen. We shared the fried brussel sprouts, which sounded interesting. Unfortunately, they were over cooked and were bitter. The boneless wings, were my favorite. They were basically a tiny chicken strip, but good! They also have an outside sitting area. Be warned, the night we were there, it was apparently the designated weed smoking area (seriously).
