Hubby & I moved his 94 year old mom up a little while ago and we've been very happy so far. We've found the staff helpful and caring. The place is very clean and large and reasonably quiet. We've learned a few things about skilled nursing facilities. Those near hospitals tend to be bedlam since there's a lot of short term patients who walk the halls. It's difficult to get a long term bed in a place like this. We tried to go to the three places that are within half a mile of our house but we're also close to two hospitals, so it was no go. Sunny View is connected with a memory care and an independent (and assisted) living facility. So it's much easier to get a long term bed, and the place truly is calmer and quieter. The food is better. The staff can provide more attention. The grounds are lovely. There's a very nice central patio area with lots of shade where people can hang out. I'm hoping we can convince his mom to do PT/OT so we can get her outside a bit. Like most people over a certain age, she's depressed that her body doesn't do what she wants it to, and we can only tell her that PT and OT will help with that. But she's content and we're glad she was able to get a bed near a window with a good view. read more

Truly amazing care of my Father by the entire team at Sunny View Care Center. From the moment he arrived, Ameresh and Tom immediately got him situated and comfortable. The entire staff has been amazing and I am 100% sure it contributed to my Father's speedy recovery. This is nothing like other rehab centers that I have been to. Sunny View Care Center in Cupertino was my first choice for outpatient care after seeing their PT department, while visiting several Bay Area Care Centers prior to having knee replacement surgery. Their skilled PT/OT staff made me work hard during both knee replacement visits. Their caring and compassionate nursing personnel were equally supportive and considerate. It was a combination of their teaching skills and direction, plus my daily commitment to actively doing additional PT on my own, that resulted in my leaving without any assisted devices. , Without any hesitation, five years later I returned after foot surgery to Sunny View Care Center. Imagine, not only being welcomed but remembered by many of the same RN's, LVN's, CNA's, and even housekeeping personnel. That kind of retention speaks volumes in today's health care industry. Plus the former manager of their PT department was promoted to a regional position. Their exercise room even had an anti-gravity machine, rarely seen in any care facility, plus triple the amount of different kinds of exercise equipment for residents and outpatients usage. Sunny View's food service department offered weekly selections of various seasonal and fresh cuisine that were both tasty and colorful. Even something as simple as a cookie arrived on a plate with an added bit of flare. Activities were also varied for residents and outpatients including arts, crafts, music, games, movies and special guest presentations. Various types of religious services or Bible studies were also offered plus a library, which was always open and inviting with plenty of places to sit and relax away from your room. While the outside of the buildings may be of an older style, the quality and caring compassion both staff and personnel provide exceeded some of the modern conveniences newer facilities offered. Upgrades and improvements were being made, while also being considerate of the residents and or patient needs and care. I might add the grounds are green with lush vegetation and flowers. My room was shaded by tall stately trees that provided a relaxing sunset view. I valued what Sunny View Care Center offered and provided me during my three visits as an outpatient which is why I recommend it and give it a well deserved 5 star rating! read more

We never imagined in our wildest dreams during a long and stressful search for a Medi Cal bed for our Mother that we would find such a wonderful caring facility as Sunny View. Our Mom's health is fragile and she is nearly bed bound, although she can be in a wheelchair for short periods of time. The staff at Sunny View has been consistently kind, caring, and patient. We have never observed eye rolling or sharp responses and we definitely DID observe both in previous facilities. The grounds and buildings are beautiful and peaceful, with benches and fountains throughout the property. I highly recommend this facility if you need help with a family member. I am not a social media user or review writing type but given the gravity of decisions regarding care facilities for my elderly mother, I am writing in hopes of helping other families in similar distressing circumstances. Over the last five years we have tried every possible way to provide the best care for my elderly, widowed mother. She has Parkinson's Disease and other complicating conditions requiring considerable medical oversight but also has stubbornly insisted on staying in her home. We have spared no expense outfitting her house to accommodate her needs including multiple live-in caregivers but after numerous emergency visits to the hospital it was essential to find a live in facility. After arranging her transfer to the highest ranked facilities in Los Gatos, Saratoga, and vicinity and each time she would find it unacceptable and insist on going back home. Complicating the matter is that I am trying to administer this from 3,000 miles away. Suffice it to say, she is difficult to please. The day after Christmas after another emergency visit, the hospital recommended Sunnyview. She was transferred there under a Rehabilitation directive. Thankfully she reported to me that she really liked it there! (That's a huge hurdle) The facility has lots of space, not crowded at all, rooms are larger, ground level with large windows with flowering bushes and plenty of sunlight. Most importantly, the staff is fantastic. Besides having the highest nurse to patient ratio I have encountered, they are quite attentive to her needs and keep me very well apprised on her status, medically and her overall mood. Also it's very important that the location has all levels of care needs; retirement, assisted living, rehabilitation, skilled nursing, hospice, etc. Even though we're past the point for the more independent levels, not having to relocate if/when more care is needed is a huge benefit given how long it takes to secure a place anywhere and how unexpectedly urgent the need may arise. One really can't assume the future at this precarious stage of life. From my perspective, I call and every nurse or receptionist answering the phone recognizes my number and greets me by name. They are all excellent, but a couple have been absolute Godsends. Danielle is the Chaplain's assistant and probably the most cheerful and sincerely caring person I can think of. She has arranged for the pastor's visits and is genuinely concerned for mom's happiness and contentment. Most amazing to me is Sandra, who is the most perceptive social worker I've ever encountered. Given that my mother can barely speak due to Parkinson's, she has a gift for reading nonverbal cues, countenance and body language so quickly and accurately I would swear she's psychic! She is easily accessible, even after hours or weekends, via her mobile phone. Her situational assessments are invaluable to me. Given how long and frustrating finding an acceptable place for mom has been, to finally find this place is a huge relief! If I could give it 6 stars I definitely would! I hope this helps. read more

My mother was at Sunnyview for skilled nursing/physical rehab after surgery for a broken hip. Physical Therapists were professional, food was good per mother. Care staff very inattentive. My mother would use the call button when she needed to use the restroom as she was unable and not allowed to get up unassisted. It would typically take staff at least 30 minutes to get to her. They put disposable underpants on her and she ended up with a rash affecting her incision and was put on antibiotics. My father would ask the staff sitting at the nurses station talking, if somebody could help them and the answer was always "I dont know who"s taking care of her". They never helped when asked and it was as if they were waitresses saying thats not my table. There are always multiple call bells going off for unacceptable lengths of time. A resident could be calling for a medical reason like chest pain and they would never know. They should at least make sure somebody is ok. My father was always afraid to leave because he was worried she would not get attention when she needed. There is no Physical Therapy on weekends and the staff was not allowed to walk with her, not even to the restroom. If she was in bed they would put her in a wheelchair and push her 15 feet to the restroom, yet PT said she was able to walk 60 to 100 feet. Didnt make any sense. So basically she was allowed to walk only once daily. Overall this was a disappointing experience and if there is a next time we will look at other options. read more

My 84-year-old husband has rehabilitated twice at Sunny View Care Center After Hospital stays. It's the best place...The staff is very competent, caring and loving. Like home. And the facilities and grounds are beautifully kept. A great place to rehabilitate. read more

Called to check if they have a spot for my Mom who is having a chronic pain issue. The assistant said yes and indicated the boss will call. No call. Called again a bit later and got to the boss who wouldn't spend time explaining how the place works and transferred me to a nurse who of course did not answer. Ended up leaving a voicemail and never heard from her. If the simple stuff is so hard, don't want to think of what the place may be like. read more

My 94 year old aunt was recently admitted to the Nursing unit at SunnyView following an acute hospitalization for pneumonia. She received excellent professional care while there. My aunt was a difficult resident at first with some behavior problems. The staff was exceptional in their kindness and care for her. They truly took her issues to heart and solved her many problems. Every person who came in contact with her was respectful, sweet and happy in their work. The level of communication with family was perfect. I really cannot say enough positive things about the rehabilitation she received. She was able to return to her "home" care setting in peak condition! My aunt actually wanted to stay at SunnyView, but was unable to due to lack of beds available. read more

My dad stayed at Sunny View for a month while recovering from a long hospitalization with several different issues. This was his second experience with rehab ( previously at another facility). The staff here is wonderful and truly caring. They were always helpful and willing to listen to both myself and my dad. I did not see staff members pulling repeated double shifts like I saw at his previous rehab, so I always felt like the staff was ready and able to care for their patients. My dad steadily improved with their care ( both nursing and OT/PT). When he was ready to be discharged, the support staff helped arrange everything he would need at home, including helping to find a new primary care provider ( thank you to the amazing Dr. Humphries, the on site physician) when my dad's previous one wouldn't see him for a month. I hope my dad doesn't need to ever return to rehab, but this is where he would go if he did. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. read more

My parents moved to the Care Center a few months ago. The place struck me as well run and the people are nice and cheerful. It is clean and serene and I feel comfortable visiting there. I have visited several other places but none came close. It is definitely a 5 star facility. The food is good too. read more
