I had called to schedule an appt for a cleaning. The staff was very nice and helpful. At the time of my appt, it was just an "exam" no cleaning NOTHING was done aside from a few pictures and a consultation. Few months passed by and I received a bill saying I owed $118. After checking my claim through my insurance, they were paid for the visit, in addition I'm getting charge $118 out of pocket. I try to email the office to ask why im getting billed but they wouldn't explain to me in an email, they are requesting for me to call in. I have the same working hours as they do. I'm just fed up with the amount of txt, emails, and mail I'm getting. I would not come back or recommend any family/friends after my experience! read more

This place is very unorganized. They only seem to care about the money and want you to pay for all of your upcoming appointments up front (which glad I didn't). For my very first appointment they rescheduled TWICE. Then for my second appointment they rescheduled once. Service was great until the doctor came to look at my dental x-rays and didn't even know how to use the machine which seems weird as that should be something he does daily. At the end of my appointment, I had scheduled my following appointment while in the back room but when I go to the front the clerk says I need to reschedule as the lady in the back doesn't know what she's doing. Seems to be conflict between the workers. Then for what was to be my third appointment at 8:30am, I show up and they tell me they'll check me in. I go to sit down and wait about 2 minutes before the clerk comes out and tells me we need to reschedule WHEN I AM ALREADY THERE. She then proceeds to gaslight me and say I sent you messages asking to reschedule, when she in fact, DID NOT. They are unorganized and only care about money. Do not come here. read more

My family and I had been Dr. Ellstrom's patients for several years, and he had always been a competent dentist. But an incident in July 2019 involving my wife and grandchildren caused us to question his people skills and attitude. On that date, my 4 year old grandson accidentally spilled sand from a toy on the waiting room carpet. Dr. Ellstrom's wife, who apparently was working in the office, angrily told my wife to "GET THE KIDS OUT!" My wife was in the hallway, where Ms. Ellstrom screamed out, "Did he spill outside to?" This frightened my wife, grandchild, and special needs daughter. My wife told her that they had been waiting in the car for my other 2 year old grandchild, who was with a hygienist. Ms. Ellstrom rudely told my wife, "APPARENTLY, THEY DON'T LISTEN TO YOU!" My wife emailed Dr. Ellstrom about the incident and never got a reply. Later in July, when she had a dental appointment, she asked him about the incident. He yelled at her while she was reclined in the dental chair and said, "I WOULD HAVE THROWN THOSE KIDS OUT AND YOU! " On Feb. 13, 2020, Ellstrom's office sent us a bill for charges on accounts over 90 days. Our insurance, Delta Dental, said we do not owe anything. Delta Dental also stated that Ellstrom was putting "questionable" charges on our bill. I am a retired high school teacher of 34 years, and my wife was a longtime school district employee. We have always treated people with respect, and paid our bills on time. Needless to say, we have switched to a dentist closer to our home. read more

I've been loyal to Sunnymead Dental for over twenty years. A strong testament to my loyalty is the fact that I drive from Newport Beach to support SD. I've also referred a decent amount of business over the years. I had an appointment at 8:30 am. Traffic was bad, so I called at 7:50 am and advised them I'd be late. I was told, " Okay I'll let them know." That led me to believe there would be no problem with me being late. I arrived at 9:00, and was told that they need to reschedule my appointment. I, find it very unprofessional that the scheduling timetable was not cross-checked to see if there was still existing availability for the appointment , while I was on the phone. About to finish Part Two of my root canal. I really have to say, the hype was NOT real when it comes to thinking root canals are a rare form of torture reserved for people in the depths of hell. The pain before the canal was the problem. Dr. Ellstrom knows his stuff and my mouth was numb enough for the procedure that my fists were not constantly clenched. He explained the procedure as it progressed so I was not simply sitting and awaiting a far-off conclusion. From the ladies up front to those in the trenches, I have nothing negative to say.
