I haven't played here in a couple of years. The front nine was better maintained than the back nine. No big deal if you're a fan of daisies. And where's the fairway on the back nine? The rough from the tee box is a huge apron on many holes. And the fairways are narrow on some. Good price though. $33 senior. We pushed our carts as the course is very flat.

The last muni I have not golfed in the Bay Area! What a gem of a course. Short but well maintained with no cirque de solei holes that try to blow your scores up. Not a dog patch but a course that is probably kept hidden for fear of flooding it. Price is cheap and well worth the fee. Scenic as well and reminds me more of East Coast courses which are full of large trees. I highly, I highly recommend Sunnyvale for thise looking for a nice well maintained course. It is easier but worth the drive and traffic. I shot a 78.

Great value! 37 bucks for a mini and it wasn't very hot here today. Greens are slow but soft! Easy to walk this but on a hot day like today, a cart was worth it. Pace of play was really nice, finished 18 in 5 hours.

It's been a while since I've played here. The price is not as good as Santa Clara on TeeOff and the course is not as well kept either. I tried it on a week day and it was slow, the fairways are hard at some, the grass is brown at some parts, the greens are bumpy. The golf course is short but quite challenging for me at some holes. It wasn't a busy day, but there are groups that are so slow holding the pace down tremendously.

I have never had a negative experience very good course to play for a fair price. Mark is very nice and helpful and makes me feel welcome every time I go play there not so beginner friendly course but it's good for the price

Beautiful course that's very well maintained. Long par 4s and a few par 5s. There's a bit of a bottleneck around hole 13 but that's to be expected mostly anywhere. Definitely will be playing here again.

Ask the Community - Sunnyvale Golf Course

Can I bring my daughter there? She doesn't play golf but wants to walk with me for 18 holes.

I did hear a player pay for a non-player when I was in line at the pro shop. So I BELIEVE you can, but cannot for sure confirm this..

    Is there a driving range?

No, no driving range on-site. You can swing by Sunken Gardens GC on your way here since Sunnyvale GC does not want you to check in until 15 minutes prior to your tee time.

Do they have a driving range?

No they do not. They do have a putting green .

We had an early Saturday morning tee time, and the entire round took just under 4.5 hours. We got lucky because the groups behind us were super slow, so we never had anyone playing behind us. The people in front of us slow though, which slowed the round down. No Marshalls on the course or drink cart, which is an area for improvement. The course itself was in really good shape. It's a fun course layout, with some wide open fairways, dog leg tee shots, and it's one of those courses that gets easier the more you play out. The bunkers had a good, firm sand, which is rare for public courses in the area. The greens were punched but still rolled pretty fast. Can't wait to come back here in the summer when the greens are better. The restaurant was good. I got a breakfast burrito and this thing filled me up for the entire round. We had a 10:30 a.m. tee time and arrived with our 6-month-old sons in strollers. We have played at many golf courses throughout the San Jose area and have never once been turned away because we had our children with us. We understand the risks involved and have always complied with any course requirements. Upon arrival, the woman working at the front desk immediately informed us that children in strollers were not allowed on the course. Her attitude was dismissive from the start and made us feel completely unwelcome. When I asked where this policy was stated in the course rules, she admitted that it was not actually written anywhere. Instead, she explained that it was up to the discretion of the person working at the desk to decide who would be allowed to play. Rather than trying to help us or offer any reasonable solution, she was rude and made irrelevant comments such as, "This isn't baseball." We never suggested it was, and we made it clear that we fully understood the risks associated with bringing our children onto a golf course. Despite this, she refused to assist us in any way. I later spoke with the manager, Hay, regarding the situation. Unfortunately, he supported the employee's decision and attitude. He stated that children are not allowed on the course because of the risk of injury due to the course's "narrow" fairways. I explained that we have played a wide variety of courses, including many with short and narrow fairways, and have never been denied access. At other courses, we simply sign a waiver acknowledging the risks. He informed me that Sunken Gardens does not offer that option. What made this experience especially frustrating was not just the policy itself, but the way it was handled. We were treated as though we were unreasonable for wanting to enjoy a round of golf while introducing our children to the sport and spending time outdoors as a family. The entire interaction felt unwelcoming, dismissive, and unprofessional. As a result of this experience, I will not be booking any future tee times at Sunken Gardens Golf Course. I will also be sharing my experience with friends, family, and fellow golfers so they can make informed decisions before choosing to play here. Customer service and respectful communication matter, and unfortunately, Sunken Gardens failed in both areas.
