The first time we came during opening week, we didn't realize reservations were required and weren't able to play. This time, we made a reservation in advance and everything went smoothly. We arrived for our 6 PM reservation and were greeted by the host right away. While we waited, we grabbed a couple of drinks to kick off the night, which definitely added to the overall vibe. The atmosphere is lively but still relaxed--perfect for a fun and casual date night. Overall, it was a friendly environment with a great ambiance. Two of us went to check it out as a possible venue for a MBA Grad gathering in June. WHAT A BLAST! I wasn't sure what to expect but had seen some fun reviews on Yelp so we popped down on a Wednesday night. The 'mini golf' holes were so imaginative and no expense spared on the decor, design and fabulous variety of Silicon Valley style 'holes'. I recommend you read the signs along with way with the history if you are so inclined. Had fun chatting with other 'golfers' along the way as it's very interactive. The food was very good (loved the chicken schwarma & smash burger) and full bar with great options on tap and good wines. This was my first time going to urban putt. I booked a reservation online for 7:30 pm. I would definitely recommend reservations since there could be a lot of people depending on the day and time of day. We didn't try the food, but we did get the drinks! You're able to keep a tab open and bring drinks with you. Drinks are pretty decent. Nothing too crazy. The course was super fun! I really enjoyed how creative each hole is. We had a great time here -- the vibe is awesome and each hole has its own personality. The creative touches, especially the pinball-style holes, were super cool. The only confusing part was figuring out where the front vs. back nine started. The staff wasn't very clear or friendly about explaining how to begin, and the bar service was just okay. Clearer guidance would really help first-timers. It was also pretty crowded, and even with a reservation we had to wait behind a few larger groups. A fairly new indoor mini golf spot in downtown San Jose. Fairly new because I believe they opened sometime last year just never got a chance to go until recently. Urban putt is 2 floors. Bottom floor has the mini golf and bar. Top floor was the arcade and I'm not sure what else they had because I didn't go up there, I just saw the signs showing what was on the second floor. Urban Putt has 18 unique holes from a crashed UFO to the Shoreline Ampitheater! Loved the theme for each of the holes. They were so cool and I have to say that the Winchester Mystery House was one of my favorites! Definitely was "spooky." Tried their drinks and thought they were ok. Didn't try their foods. What's up: Team building activity after a sushi dinner! We did some research ahead of time and thought this would be a great thing to try. Indoor mini golf! Parking: We took an Uber here but it looks like there's street parking nearby. Environment: We came later in the evening so the place asked to check for ID before being allowed in. They have a bar as well as a kitchen in addition to the mini golf portion. We went to order a drink first before ordering our mini golf session. Staff members were friendly. The mini golf was very freestyle. Multiple parties are playing at the same time. There's an order you can follow or ignore lol. Each round has different obstacles and activities to do for the holes. And the best part, you can bring your drink along since they have areas where you can place them down or you hold up, up to you. The entire course is black light lit so the neon colored glow in the dark mini golf made it so much more fun! There's also free WiFi. Urban Putt was so much fun! We got the 18 holes to go through the whole course, and pairing it with drinks made it all the more fun! Kids under 2 play for free and get the cutest mini golf club! The balls got stuck in some of the courses sometimes but the staff were very helpful in providing you with extra balls to dislodge the previous ball. My favorite was the Winchester Mystery House stop, which featured a nod to the local "haunt" with its moving cushion and holes. The first thing you should know is Herradura is their WELL tequila. This is an upsell at most places. Went on a Saturday night. It was a medium amount of business. The golfing was a bit crowded but that has more to do with the small space than anything. The bar area had a "comfortable" crowd. Speaking of the bar, one of the bartenders was great. The other was much less friendly. Ultimately she did her job and she was polite though, so no knock for that. Another thing I really loved was the way the mini golf was themed. Most of the course decoration had a Bay Area theme. If I had one complaint, it's that it's not easy to find. Went with my team to have some fun team building. What a unique design for putt putt. As the manager I didn't feel comfortable taking pictures for my review but such creative and fun ideas. For our mini golfing, we opted for 18 holes. All of the holes were pretty cool. We could tell a good budget went into it. Each hole was unique and had its own pizzazz. 5/5 fun! I had so much fun playing a round of mini golf here. A lot of the holes are San Jose/Bay Area themed. My favorite was the Winchester mystery house themed hole. I loved the inclusion of non golf holes, like the table top puzzles. Interior is somewhat futuristic looking with a large waiting area and a bar/tables. We checked in for a game Saturday afternoon with no reservation and no wait. We got a full round, 18 holes for $20 per person. They also had an option for a half round, 9 holes. We grabbed a couple drinks to take in with us. I don't remember the name of mine but it had mint or basil and was very refreshing. While I loved the themes and overall vibe of the place there is room for improvement. Every table had a reserved sign on it even though the place was fairly empty. Some of the holes were a little off in the sense that if you made it into one of the mechanics you were not guaranteed a hole in one, they were all slightly off. It was also a little unclear where one hole started and the other began, our balls kept going into other groups games because there were no boundaries. There is a decent amount of flat surfaced for your drinks but there could have been more. Overall fun activity and I would definitely return. Great first date or double date spot. read more

My son was looking for a birthday party venue and discovered Urban Putt San Jose online. Having a February birthday usually means you have to deal with unpredictable weather, so we were excited to have an indoor spot where he could eat and play with his friends without the worry of getting wet! We were super excited to check out Urban Putt one night to see if it would be a good place to host our party. We stopped in on a Saturday night and the place was bustling. Always a good sign! It was fun to see the golf area lit up with glow in the dark and other fun features, and to see there was ample seating both downstairs and upstairs. We spoke to the hostess at the door who couldn't take our reservation on the spot but encouraged us to book it online for our party - very easy with Open Table. Note that Urban Putt doesn't have true "birthday party" packages - you just reserve a table to eat, and then you can play golf before or afterwards. I guess technically you don't even need to book a table to eat, you can just show up and golf, but we wanted to make sure our guests (kids!) had full bellies and were happy, not hangry, party-goers, so we booked tables for our group to eat before we golfed. We opted for a noon timeslot to hopefully avoid some crowds. Not to mention these were kids, and the place becomes adults only after 8 PM due to the alcohol on premises. We arrived when it opened on a Saturday and our table was reserved for us. The menu was very ample - we opted for pizzas to be split amongst our group. They were so delicious with a great crust! Highly recommend the "Lotta" pizza! Thanks to our server Jasper for the recommendation! We ordered 3 pizzas for 9 of us which was more than enough. We also ordered a couple of appetizers to share. Note that they don't have pitchers of sodas, so you have to order the drinks individually. One caveat: You do have to pay a fee if you bring in outside food (including a cake/cupcakes), so please be aware of that to avoid any unwelcome surprises! Golfing afterwards was super fun! You pay separately for the golfing and the food. A larger party of kids had just arrived before us when we had finished eating and were getting ready to golf (of course!), but the workers in the golf area were super accommodating and put us on the second half of the course first! We loved how there were "themed" holes, and they weren't normal holes - they had other features like pneumatic tubes, plinko machines, etc., many with a glow-in-the-dark feature. And there were cool "local" destinations featured, like. the Winchester Mystery House, Downtown San Jose, etc. The place can get a little crampy though with limited space, so it's best suited for a party of about 4 golfers at a time (We had 7 golfers and it got a bit tight around each hole, but they were kids and didn't seem to mind.) Parking was also easy. There was a Park SJ garage very nearby which gives the first 90 minutes free (then $1 for each 15 minutes afterwards), so we ended up paying $7 for a little over 3 hours at the venue. Overall it was a great experience and service was also top notch! Shout out to Jasper, our waiter, and Isaac (and his co-worker, I didn't catch his name) in the golf area - they were fantastic! Highly recommend coming here, either for a kids' party, or with adult friends for a fun night out! We look forward to visiting again soon! read more

This place was so cool and unique. We started off first by eating. My fiancé and I shared chicken and waffles plus side of nacho tater tots. Everything was delicious! The waffle nicely cooked and same with the chicken inside. That taters were also nice and crispy with excellent toppings of meat, cheese, jalapeños and guacamole. I saw a lot of reviews about being crowded. It really depends on time. We got there right at opening and it didn't start to pick up until hit close to 1pm. It still wasn't that bad. We did around if 18 holes which was both sides. I would say this the most unique mini golf I been too and very interactive. I don't want to give too much away but some of the floors move, some is like video game and some is more hands on. Definitely fun date night. The course is creative and well-designed, making for a fun outing with friends. That being said, the service was slow--like, I could've played an extra nine holes before getting my drink. Speaking of drinks, they were overpriced and pretty basic, with the only standout feature being the fancy little smoke bubbles they put on top. A nice touch, but not enough to justify the cost. Also, the bar itself was sticky and clearly hadn't been wiped down in a while, which wasn't exactly appetizing. Overall, it's a fun place to try at least once, but the service and cleanliness need improvement. I hosted a large group here for my partner's birthday last weekend. He just simply made a reservation via OpenTable. We had a large group of 14 of us . Unfortunately, due to previous bad actors they have a policy where you have to close out the tab at the table before you can go play putt putt. I wish I had known that because I thought people could come and go between eating and drinking and playing but I understand why the rules in place. Having known that I would have personally flipped to start with the activity and then finished with the meal and drinks for at least this large group. Visited Urban Putt for the first time and had a great time! I've only ever played mini golf at Golfland before, but I feel like Urban Putt really went all out on their course designs and creativity. Not all of the holes follow your typical "mini golf" structure and they add a lot of tech, games, and creative design to make each hole exciting to play! The staff were all very friendly as well. Cool spot to spend a couple of hours. It's a neat activity and definitely different from other mini golf experiences I've had (especially outdoor mini golf). It's amazing how they fit 18 unique holes into a fairly small space. There's another spot called Tipsy Putt that is indoor golf themed. I would say Urban Putt's actual golf experience is a lot better - Tipsy Putt feels more like a frat party where the focus is on drinking with the golf / games more of an afterthought. I didn't have any food or drink while I was there (we were with the kids and needed to head back out). The menu looked like "pub food" - I say this in a good way as I love pub food. They also have unique looking drinks and some beer on tap. The place felt and looked very clean as well. Bathrooms were clean and in good working order. Parking was fantastic at the San Jose 2nd Street garage which is right across the street / around the corner. I'm not sure if this is always the case, but we were able to get 90 minutes of our parking free, so the final cost of parking was miniscule. The only place I've been to for mini golf is Golf Land and it wasn't something I really enjoyed. However, Urban Putt changed my mind about mini golfing completely. It's located in DTSJ and you could find parking at the E San Carlos parking garage! Urban Putt has 18 holes as a full course which is more than enough. The room is dim and has cool themes which is very unique in comparison to Golf Land. They also have a bar with hot foods including pizza, tater tots, wings and many more! I called on Tuesday to confirm a table reservation for Saturday at 4:00 pm for 20 people. The gentleman I spoke with was very helpful and answered all of my questions, as it was my first time visiting. I specifically asked if it would be acceptable for me to order food for the table while guests ordered drinks at the bar and rotated through golf. I was told this was completely fine, with the only limitation being a three-hour table time, which I agreed to. Upon arrival, however, both the manager and our waiter rudely informed me that no one could order at the bar and that everyone had to remain seated at the table. They also stated we only had a two-hour limit because they were "fully booked." When I explained what I had been told on the phone, the manager dismissed it by saying the employee "didn't know what he was talking about" and implied he was insignificant because he only works once a week. I explained that I chose Urban Putt specifically based on the information provided, but my concerns were disregarded. As a result, I was forced to cover over $700 for the entire group, which I cannot afford. To make matters worse, I brought an ice cream cake along with my own plates, utensils, and knife, yet was charged $70 afterward for bringing a cake. When I questioned this charge, the waiter responded rudely and aggressively, stating he had "told someone" there would be a fee, but could not say who. The fee cost more than the cake itself. The waiter was consistently rude and unaccommodating throughout the evening. He refused to open separate tabs, walked away from guests mid-conversation, and was difficult to locate whenever we wanted to order drinks. His attitude made the experience extremely uncomfortable. I wish I had asked for a different server. Despite being told the venue was fully booked, the space was largely empty, with only a handful of other guests present and many unused tables marked "reserved." The entire experience was mortifying, humiliating, and upsetting, and it left me in tears. We couldn't even enjoy the golf due to the constant issues. Additionally, I had emailed twice in advance to inquire about a private room and never received a response--not even to say availability was limited. I had heard wonderful things about Urban Putt, but this experience lost the business of 20 people. I am extremely disappointed and will not be returning. read more
