I am sorry I have to write this - I was told: -Risha from SunPower: Thank you for waiting, Diane. To address this, we are going to install a production current transformer on site as a proactive measure on our part as we wanted to preempt the potential underperformance of your system and ensure the optimum system production in the years to come. We will be initiating a work order for technicians to have a site visit for the installation. Please expect a call from the scheduler within 7-10 business days. Here's the ticket number for this case as reference: 01748035 - So I waited and waited. Then I called back 2 weeks later to be told the parts needed were not in stock and I would get a call when they were in stock. - Today, two more weeks later, I called Corporate. Talked with Sandra who told me the Case Manager 'Mary' would call me back after lunch. No phone call. -Called Corporate back at 1600 to be told by Bianca that the Case Manager was gone for the day (apparently they leave at 1600 and there is no night shift supervisor - go figure) and I could email the generic support line with my complaint. SunPower - this is UNSAT. I have invested thousands on the promise you would keep up the end of the bargain and report correctly what I am generating to the Electric Company. As of today, I owe the Electric Company over $1,000 for the past three months - because your system isn't working. As a paying customer I expect to not get the runaround from your service desk or case manager's. This is no way to run a business. We have a property at 8364 telegraph rd, Downey ca 90638 and in January 2020 we started the process of purchasing and the installation of sun power solar panel. Everything went pretty well with the company at first. The project got finished and the system was turned on in early February. We were actually getting credits back on what we produced. things looked to be good until August 2020 and then i found out why so many others sunpower solar panels review were so negative. I now say first hand how bad Sunpower solar customer service was. sunpower solar panels components are horrible. Here was the Issue. In August 2020 there was a power outage for 1 hour and Sunpower solar production stopped going to SCE grid from the residence any more since that happened. We currently call sunpower solar daily to see if we can have a tech come to do an actual Physically check on their equipment but they always say they will call us back. This never happens. We have had Southern California Edison come out and Physically check their equipment panel to verify if the issue was on there end. We did a circuit breaker reset and still nothing going to SCE. Southern California Edison are stating it is the solar pannel system from (sunpower Corporation) and it must have something wrong with the actual components from sun power. So the informed us to call them and let them know they had checked there system and nothing. So on one of our daily calling to sunpower we let them know what Southern California Edison did and said. Sunpower Online web portal shows sun power panels are producing something. However it is showing far less on average now than it even did back in the middle of winter when sunlight was at a minimal amount. We even shared this with there Sunpower customer service call center. Still sunpower was not doing anything to fix there system they installed 5 months earlier. Our Solar bill has also jumped to last year's summer bill cost when we didn't even have solar over $400. We are also on track for another $400 plus month for September already. We are almost 2 months now trying to get a tech out to our house and get there system fixed. . Main issue is sun power customer service call center if you didn't know it is located in the Philippines. Making it nearly impossible for them to coordinate with the United States based company. If i was on the board of directors for this company i would get rid of the CEO and replace them with someone that would be more focused on there customer base. until my issue gets fix I will keep this info up below. Would not recommend product due to my experience.. that I am still going through. I have spent 4 months trying to get SunPower and the installer to provide a system to function correctly for a system that is a year old this month. It worked for about 7 months and lost an inverter. Had to go between SunPower and get the installer back out to swap the warrantee replacement installed. That took myself several months of calls to both parties to get this completed. System since then hasn't worked generating really low numbers. December 2020 it generated 100kwh for 8.4kwh system...Estimated should be closer to 300kwh / month January 31kwh for 10 days with estimated 400kwh / month. The location is in Michigan, but no snow is on the panels since we haven't had very much. 21 (400w) panels are best to get . 4 Kwh during a cloudy day during peak times. SunPower looked into it and after 3 weeks said the installer needed to do a site visit to check connection. Weeks later they do a site visit on a cloudy day, and say the system is running normal without issues, Sunpower told installer that they don't know why they are onsite. Final outcome was recommends to monitor it more. no troubleshooting on the data that they already have. Their own tech could see the panels drop offline and come back on their screen on the previous visit. The system lacks any software transparency for the owner on what is happening with the panels. What is working and what is not. SunPower system you could tell what was working, now is a back box. the 25yr warrantee isn't worth anything if you cannot get people to get it functioning. This is going on 4 months without resolve and the only way to solve it is pay the installer break the panels down to smaller groups. They maxed one circuit with 11 panels (Sunpower max panels per circuit). With no solution from the installer, now having to pay to get the panels broken down into smaller groups to see what is the issue. I liked SunPower product based on the manufacturing process, the support / troubleshoot ability and follow up support issues are not there. read more

Dennis Boyce at SunPower is a class act and all around great guy. He dropped by for our setup and service appointment ahead of schedule, which we appreciated because it freed up our afternoon. He kindly wore a mask (no politics or push back) and serviced our SunPower box, getting everything up and running in less than 30 minutes. Dennis also made sure to answer our questions and walk us through the app as well as provide practical panel maintenance advice and helpful tips for getting the most out of our system. He did an incredible job and our family is super grateful for his time and service. I don't write many reviews but this one was worth it. We have had Sunpower for about 7 years and really not had any problems. Had 2 inverters go out and they promptly came out and fixed. They installed a fence around our system that's is awesome. Just had a billing error and they were great at fixing the issue and waived all fees. So far I am very happy with them. read more

I want to speak with someone at SunPower as to why my system was not working for two weeks. Unfortunately, the only means of contact is a telephone number that is not efficiently staffed. The recording says that wait times exceed 20 minutes, and after holding the line for 50 minutes, I gave up. My system has been down since 11-20-20 with a ground fault error. I have a case number 02217771. I first called and waited one week for someone to call me back as their support system requested. Nothing. Then I called back finally got a person who promised that someone would call me back in four days. Again nothing happened. So I started calling and leaving a message everyday and after a week, someone finally called me back and scheduled a service appointment for January 6 between 7:30 and 9:30. Like a fool I waited all day and no one showed up or called. So once again I'm calling and leaving my case number name and address on support voicemail every day!! I have never experienced customer service like this before! I will continue to call daily - I promise! read more

I have had SunPower installed for nearly 4 months now and I can say that my experience has overall been great. During the decision process I met with representatives from different solar companies. I not only found SunPower to have the best evaluation presentation but I noticed it was the company that put on the least amount of sales pressure afterward. Their representatives were very responsive to any questions I had before, during, and after installation. Because it has been less than a year I cannot say how much I will have to pay PGE at the end of the year or how much refund I will get but so far the summer months have been generating more power than I use. I assume this will be less during the winter months and therefore I should break even by the end of the year. As far as any issues go I can only say that there have been periodic communication issues between my equipment and SunPower's servers. This has resulted in a delay of information in the app used to track my energy stats. But the missing data appears to come in eventually (usually a day later) so it isn't much of a problem. The panels themselves seem to be working properly and SunPower acknowledges that they are working on improving the reporting software. Overall I highly recommend SunPower. read more

Sunpower is TERRIBLE!!!! I have had an issue open for over a year. They came in replaced the recalled microinverters, but they broke a bunch of tiles. There were multiple subcontractors to work on the panels (so solar was offline for 4+ months) and then roofers were here to fix the tiles (several hundred needed to be replaced). However, they did not fix all the tiles. I realized that there were about 100 more tiles that they just left broken, which are RIGHT NEXT TO THE SOLAR PANELS. The folks at Sunpower support are useless, as they try to blame the roofers or try to state that the tiles were broken before the microinverters were installed. The amount of tiles that were broken by Sunpower subcontracters was appalling and they won't take responsiblity for it. DON'T use or recommend using SUNPOWER. I had Tesla Solar (Solar City) on my previous home, and they were great and easy to work with. Go with Tesla! read more

We went with Sunpower and had solar panels installed on the roof and went with the Sunvault battery backup system. Everything went very well, permitting, installation, inspections were easy. Only took then 2 days to install the whole system. The one thing they never mentioned during the sales pitch or any of the documents they sent us was the fact that the Sunvault battery system is very noisy. On my iPhone with the Decibel X app in registers 54db when charging or powering the house. I complained starting about 1 week after installation. They eventually sent 2 techs to check it out, yes, it is noisier than normal. Suggested replacing the inverters. It took them 2 months to decide the only thing they could do was move the unit out of my garage, Unfortunately, the only outside areas I have are next to my neighbors bedrooms. If loud noise is an issue for you go with another company. read more

Do not use this company. Solar panels were not install properly without animal guards creating a huge gap between my roof and panels. I now have multiple pigeons nests under the panels destroying my roof, shitting all over my sidewalk, side of my house, and my neighbor's driveway.  I reached out to Sunpower but was told fixing the gap and "animal infestation" was not part of their warranty. I never had "pigeon infestation" on my roof before they installed their panels. I live in a private community and when one of their Reps posted on our community's Facebook page advertising the panels, I advised everyone against it. Many of my neighbors knew about my problem and dm me. I work in the industry where I do provide service to other people and I do stand behind my product no matter what. Apparently, Sunpower is not one of those companies. Anyone thinking of signing up with them...RUN THE OTHER WAY! read more

I have only ever left 2 reviews on Yelp, both positive. This company, however, falls on the opposite side. I have already left a negative review with the BBB, but wanted to make sure that my warning goes public as far as possible. We started a solar project in Feb of 2022, and found the sales process to be easy and pleasant. Our installation was done at the end of April over the course of 3 days, even only one day had originally been allotted. As of the end of July, almost August we still do not have a working system and have failed inspection 4 times. The subcontractors hired were not knowledgeable of our city's codes, and couldn't even read our main electrical box correctly. So from day 1, the drawings were incorrect. Their installers did not follow the drawings as submitted, they came with insufficient or incorrect materials to complete the job, and were uninformed as to what needed to be done. The customer service during this time has been almost non-existent. We have been unable to get our project managers, yes plural, to respond to our questions, no one at the company accepts responsibility for the long list of mistakes made throughout this time, and no one has the authority to make any decisions. We have had to manage the subcontractors that were sent. We are having to reach out to make sure work is being done properly and on time. We have had to be solar experts. It has been a full-time "side job," that has used up vacation time and created 3 months of non-stop stress. After the BBB complaint, I was assigned an "escalation" specialist. I am on my second now, having been reassigned to a Tier 3 escalation specialist who was supposed to better assist me. After contacting me and promising to get in touch the following day, I have heard nothing. Our Socal edision bills have been enormous, living in the high dessert with temps of 103°. They have compensated us for 2 bills, but it just keeps going. They submitted our project to the solar loan company back in April when the first installation (they had to take it all down and do it again) was done, without an inspection. It was not supposed to be submitted until after our solar had passed inspection and was up and running. We contacted the loan company when our first payment was due, explaining what was going on, and asking for a deferment. They said that was fine, but would charge us interest. This last Monday we paid our first payment on a system that is not running. Avoid this company at all costs. Their panels may be good (we don't know because we can't turn on our solar) but unless you have a quarter of a year to spend on this, and actually want to be frustrated and irritated over something that should be a simple install, stay away. read more

Buyer Beware! If you get a roof leak from the Solar panels, SunPower will not fix even though they say they will. I contacted them in January of this year we're now in going into August and I still have a hole in my roof due to damage done to the panels done by animals. The only thing they did was send a technician to put a temporary fix but he had no idea who would fix our roof; thats the last we heard from anyone. Absolutely no communication from our local dealer, or our assigned escalation specialist even though we're constantly reaching out no call backs or responses to emails. Very unprofessional company they have been a nightmare to deal with. Do not recommend. read more

So far buying sunpower panels has been a nightmare. Got my solar turned on the 27th of April, noticed that the energy that I'm harvesting is getting added to my utility meter, so I called tech support and was told the problem was with the app and that they will monitor my usage and production. On the 15th of May I got my first (partially solar Apr 7-May 7) bill from the utility company... It was higher then any bill I get in July and August, when the AC is on all month long. Called sunpower to have some come out and fix the problem, the earliest some could come out was the 20th of May. A tech came out, worked for about 2hr, told me that everything is fixed on his end and had to leave, even though my meter was still adding the generated power to my usage. I was told that they need to monitor my usage again. After a few more calls and no solution I turned my solar off until someone can fix it. Today is the 24th of May and I'm still waiting to see if the day will come when my solar panels will start working to my advantage. Disappointing, to say the least. read more
