Looking back at some of the other reviews I'm upset with myself for not catching on sooner. It started out well here. However the financial handling is what caused me to permanently change dental care. I can't be in a relationship with a dentist that doesn't get the billing process nailed down. Just like many others I would have surprise bills each visit. I didn't even do half the digging other reviewers did. No telling what types of crap I would find. It's sad when I've gone to other dental offices and they genuinely share their poor experiences with this office as well. Not a good look to be known as "that office". Find another place to get services folks. Update: I'm not referring to any missed appointments. I'm referring to charges from previous visits ... nice try. I pay for the top tier dental insurance. Which covers most of my dental expenses. For you to refer to any "extra charges they didn't pay for" is BS. Also, again... one missed appointment doesn't add up to $60+ dollars in past due fees EACH VIST?! Lol get real.... Keep making your snippy jabs at people calling your BS out on yelp... Let me begin this review by saying that Dr. Scott is an excellent dentist. I finally had to get crowns on two teeth with fillings that were older than Dr. Scott! She was very careful and thorough, and I look forward to many years of service from those crowns. That said, the financial practices of Sunrise Dental leave much to be desired. If a patient has dental insurance, Sunrise simply requires the patient to pay the portion not covered by insurance at time of service, and they take care of the claims. Sounds reasonable, and I trusted they were providing accurate information after they checked my coverage. It was only after they requested additional funds for a previous visit that I became concerned and researched my coverage and claims in detail. I discovered that on multiple claims for my wife and me, Sunrise charged us hundreds of dollars that the insurance company said they should not have charged per their contract. I brought the situation to the attention of the office manger, but was told several times that "that's just the way it is." It was only after I pushed hard for a complete refund of the funds in question, and contacted the insurance rep for my company, that Sunrise discovered they had been filing the claims improperly. To their credit, Sunrise agreed to resubmit all the affected claims. However, in return for my insisting that there was a problem, and getting them in contact with the right people at the insurance company to resolve the problem, Sunrise sent us a letter stating that they will longer be able to provide dental services to my family. read more

This is not a trustworthy dentist. Do not bring your business or family here. My family was at a different dentist for many years, and when he retired we switched our care over to Dr. Scott. In the two years that we were there, Dr. Scott either filled or recommended filling 30 + cavities between the four of us. In the past 10 years prior to being under Dr. Scott's care we had had maybe 4 cavities between all of us. To me, it feels like a money grab. She often recommends filling 4+ cavities at every 6 month cleaning that my family has been to. If, maybe, she is just a more aggressive dentist and acts on cavities that other dentists may not, when explaining the reason for needing so many fillings (often 5-7 at a time) she is extremely condescending. She explains the need for fillings to us as if we are children and will often question our self reported history, saying things like "IF you really are brushing twice a day, then...." If she was more respectful and came from a teaching prospective, showing x rays and explaining the need like she would to any educated adult, maybe it would be a different story. I stopped going to Sunrise mainly because they always have surprise bills that they charge you with. I have cancelled all of my appointments with them about 2 months ago. Today they have called me for a confirmation for my next appointment scheduled for next week. It seems like their front desk doesn't even know what they're talking about and are just quick to charge you if you don't question them. Here I am cancelling an appointment I've already cancelled 2 months ago and the lady on the phone said that it would cost $40 for a cancellation fee and going back to the documents I've signed, you will only be charged for a same day cancellation. I am not about to go back and forth with someone who should KNOW their business policies. The next time I talked to someone else, she said the $40 is not for the cancellation fee but for my previous deep cleaning appointments that the insurance wasn't able to cover. The frustration was REAL! I had to get my mom to clear it up because I genuinely thought I was about to get over charged because it is my first time going to the dentist here in the States. Going to the dentist here cost an arm and a leg, so know that I work hard for my money and I don't play about it! Which is why I have chosen to go somewhere else because of how the front desk handles business and how comfortable they are just charging clients without giving a thorough and honest explanation. I am so happy right now, where do I begin. I had not been to my previous dentist for over 3 years. long story. I was referred to Dr. Scott and her team by one of my clients. Mine you I have bad anxiety with any dental work. I had my initial visit last week with Lucy, this girl is amazing, sweet, gentle even with the gum probe LOL . I met Dr. Scott she went over my treatment plan , explained everything , the pros and cons. She was so kind and sweet as well. Today I did my deep scaling all 4 sides usually I only do 2 at a time, but right after my initial visit I knew I was in great hands, I did not hesitate to schedule my first treatment appointment. Lucy did an awesome job today. Thank you so much !! To preface this, I was going to my previous dentist since I was a kid but I changed dental insurance and was no longer covered there so I went here. My previous dentist is a very respectable/knowledgable/caring professional so I have pretty high standards. I've had issues with my teeth in the past, my previous dentist was watching spots that would eventually need to be filled but I had kept them from worsening for over 8 years. Dr. Scott looks at my x-rays and tells me I've got 8 cavities that need to be filled immediately. It felt like there was questioning whether I had actually been going to the dentist twice a year for my whole life or if I drink a bunch of soda or something. Basically, I felt like I wasn't being listened to and that she thought I knew nothing when I tried to explain the situation. It felt pretty condescending and like she had no time to talk with me or listen to what I had to say. My previous dentist and Dr. Scott's approach to fillings/cavities are very different (different schools of thought), which is fine, but I didn't like how she handled the situation. I ended up having their office send the x-rays to my dentist for review, he said he wouldn't recommend getting any fillings - he's been keeping an eye on them and they hadn't grown since my last x-rays. Again, his approach is just different. The bad experience wasn't because of Dr. Scott's recommendation but rather, the condescending attitude and overall disregard for what I had to say. I gave this review 2 stars because the office was nice and dealing with insurance was easy. read more

Dr. Scott has been my dentist for several years now and I couldn't be more pleased and impressed with her care as well as her Hygienist.Dr. Scott takes her time explaining her plan of care and education on any future procedures., she takes her time and listens to any concerns I might have . I can't say enough about the staff , they are all friendly and professional in their jobs . When you first go in you are greeted by Veronica, who has such a warm and friendly smile of anyone I've ever met. Just took my 4 year old to Sunrise Dental to fill a cavity I noticed. In and out in no time. The doctor and staff were very friendly and have to say by far the best dentist office I have been to in a while. I love the staff and Dr. Scott. They are very gentle and all so sweet. I love how the receptionist knows me by name and greets me even though I just started going there. The hygienist was Jessica, I believe...and she was so sweet and gentle when she was cleaning my teeth. What stood out was that she was explaining her every move so that I would be aware and not freak out over the sharp noises. Dr. Scott is also very soft spoken and gentle and always shakes your hand and acknowledges you. She listens to you and your concerns and she even knew exactly what I was talking about when I couldn't articulate it and described what I was feeling better than I could myself. Thank you to everyone there. It's always nerve wracking going to the dentist but it's always a pleasant experience when I'm there.
