Sunrise of Orange is honestly one of the best Assisted Living and Memory Care communities I've had the opportunity to know and be part of. What gives me confidence in Sunrise is the exceptional care they provide to their residents, with a full team available around the clock, 24/7. You can really see that their goal is not only to provide care, but to champion the life of every senior and help them continue to live with dignity, purpose, and joy. It starts with the leadership. Benito, the Executive Director, is truly exceptional. He is always on top of everything and is very involved with what is happening in the community. You can see his commitment to making sure the residents, families, and staff are all taken care of. I also want to give a special shoutout to Eddie Santillan, the Activities Director. Eddie is always making sure the residents are up, active, and involved through different activities, events, and programs. He puts so much heart into what he does. He really works from the heart, and you can see how much he enjoys bringing happiness and engagement to the residents. He helps make everyday life at Sunrise of Orange more active, fun, and meaningful. And it's not just the leadership or activities team. The nurses, care managers, caregivers, and entire staff have always been very open, welcoming, and accommodating. They work together to support the residents and create an environment where families can feel comfortable and confident about the care their loved ones are receiving. I've had the privilege of being a team member in a different Sunrise Community for four years, and I can honestly say that Sunrise became like my second home. I've worked with and been around different senior living communities throughout the years, and Sunrise will always hold a special place in my heart. One word describes the care at Sunrise of Orange Assisted Living and that is kindness. Kindness from every person starting with the Executive Director, down the organization, chart to the Activities and Volunteer Coordinator, the Driver, all the way to the person who mops your floor. One push of a button and someone from the Care Staff respond in a flash with a smile and asks, "How can I help you?" and then does it immediately with kindness. The place is beautiful, only three years old, it lies above a lake. Indoors, the halls are painted a soft, aqua, and covered with beautiful artwork, both tasteful and varied. I don't know when I've ever had such good food. it is a full restaurant menu, breakfast, lunch, and dinner with 3 different specials for both lunch and dinner. Nothing is over- seasoned and a healthy diet is encouraged. In the Bistro, next to the always helpful and kind Concierge, you'll see fresh herbs being grown in the salad you'll eat that night. The Chef is astonishingly creative. Tonight it was Hoisin Glazed Duck Leg with fresh peas. Everything is cooked individually to order. The choices of desserts are varied and luscious. Tonight, pineapple upside down cake, Another night, vanilla cream pie, ,another chocolate chip cookies still warm from the oven that hang over your finger, soft and yummy. The kitchen is open 24 hours, 7 days a week. Call their number and it will deliver it to your door. Knowing that there's a practice of robbing chefs, I asked why hasn't he been robbed? The answer was,"He loves working here." Why? The kindness. The employees love working here for the same reason. read more

Beautiful finish on the building and amenities. Eddie and Tifney are so friendly and welcoming and Benito runs a tight ship! The entire staff too to bottom clearly moves as a unit and abides under the same culture. Absolutely beautiful inside and outside of the facility! It was very easy to find and right when we walked in. They greeted us with a smile. We took a tour and all of our questions were answered. They said they do so many different activities and have brunch and they just seem like they really care about the well-being of people who live here which is wonderful. My mom moved to Sunrise in Orange over a year ago and she's really loving it! The facility is beautiful and modern, though like any new place, it has a few quirks. What really stands out to me is how dedicated the Executive Director and Staff are in keeping residents and their families in the loop. They go above and beyond to ensure that everyone is safe and well taken cared for. It's nice to know she's in such good hands! I truly appreciate how every member at Sunrise takes the time to know both my mom and me on a personal level. They are always quick to share any significant changes with me, whether they are positive or challenging. This open communication gives me a sense of trust in the staff, and I make it a priority to ensure that my voice is heard among them. I love how we collaborate as a team, caring for one another. My mother has been an assisted living resident at Sunrise of Orange since 2024, which means she has lived there for almost two years as of this writing. She was no longer able to live in her house due to safety concerns -- the steps posed a tripping hazard that led to broken bones, and the narrow hallways and misaligned doorways made it impossible for ambulance gurneys to access the bedrooms. Sunrise has been an excellent solution for my mom's situation, although it's not perfect. The best aspect for our family is the location; it is within walking distance of where my wife and I live, allowing us to visit frequently. My mother's second-floor studio unit overlooks the lake at Eisenhower Park, providing her with beautiful views of couples taking wedding photos, people fishing, ducks dabbling, and children playing. My mother constantly praises the staff, saying they are helpful and kind. While there have been a few employees she didn't like, they no longer work at Sunrise of Orange. The main long-term staffing issue we have observed is high turnover. I've heard that this is common in care facilities, but it can be confusing and disorienting for residents when favorite employees suddenly disappear. Previously, there was a significant shortage of help in the dining room, which resulted in frustrating wait times and the need to ask for assistance multiple times. Fortunately, the dining room has recently been adequately staffed, and my mom is pleased with the service. However, I do have some concerns regarding staffing "after-hours." From 8 AM to 8 PM, a concierge is available at the front desk, and there are plenty of caregivers for residents. The situation changes significantly from 8 PM to 8 AM; during those hours, there is no one at the front desk to unlock the door for visitors, and it may take five minutes or more for someone to respond if you call for access to your loved one. Similarly, if a resident needs assistance during those hours, there is only a skeleton crew working at night, so the few staff members are often tied up with other residents and cannot respond quickly. The best feature at Sunrise of Orange is its activities. My mom enjoys so many of them that she has been dubbed the "Queen of Activities" by some of the staff. As a highly social person, participating in activities and enjoying meals with new friends at Sunrise is crucial for her well-being. In addition to fun activities like games, music, and movies, there are exercise classes such as chair yoga and chair Tai Chi. Having a beautician on-site has also been extremely helpful. Since my mom uses a wheelchair and likes to have her hair done twice a week, it is a relief not to have to drive her to an off-site beautician and assist her with transfers every time she wants to feel pretty. Another beneficial aspect is the EmpowerMe Wellness facility on the second floor. The physical and occupational therapy staff at EmpowerMe help my mom retain her strength and coordination as she ages, which is critical for making transfers safer and reducing the risk of falls when she is alone. In the future, my mother will likely need to move to a room in one of the Reminiscence wings, which is Sunrise's terminology for Memory Care. Given the reduced capabilities of individuals with dementia, I assume the Reminiscence activities won't be as diverse and engaging as those in which my mother currently participates, but I hope they will be similarly satisfying for her when the time arrives. read more

The only reason I'm giving one star is because the app does not let you leave 0 stars. Sunrise of Orange is not equipped to care for dementia patients. They do not have the personnel, skill or compassion needed to give these residents the quality of life they deserve. Our loved one was in the "Reminiscence" memory care unit for 7 months and she experienced serious injuries from so called "falls." She had never fallen in her life and was in fit condition until she went to the Reminiscence Unit. We moved her to Reminiscence at the recommendation of Sunrise, even though our family did not think that she needed to move from assisted living yet. I had many conversations and emails with the managers, including the executive manager over that 7-month period and the quality of care continued to deteriorate, in spite of their promises. Sunrise of Orange failed over and over to meet the minimum standards of care. The ratio of care giver to resident never seemed sufficient even though they promised more care than the assisted living area. We have now moved her to another dementia care home. Do not be fooled by the upscale decor or that paying more will get your loved one better care. The monthly cost at Sunrise of Orange is very high and in no way reflective of the quality of care, quality of food or quality of communication. read more

Wow. Where do I start? Right now I am here for a brunch with my mother. Hard to believe, but their special brunch menu is as good as any restaurant. The prime rib is crazy good. chef Peter does a great job and he is very kind to the residents. My mom's care has been very good, and the staff here is very attentive. Sunrise of Orange is the worst place for Seniors. You would think this is a low rent place by how they treat the customers who live there. For $12,000 a month, you would think my sister-in-law would get better care. The place is understaffed or just cheap. She has been there for a year, so we should know what we are talking about. She had fallen and was on the floor of her room for several hours before anyone found her. She has fallen several times and had to go to to emergency. We have asked them to have her ready to go out to dinner. When we arrive, My sister-inlaw has bruses on her face, she is eating dinner with one shoe and one erring on. She is not ready. This has happened several times this past year. We were going to eat at the White House in Orange California. My sister-in-law has never married and worked all her life so that she could live comfortably in her last years. We tried to find a really nice place for her. Sunset of Orange looked really good from the outside looking in. It is not. I do not believe the reviews that I see on Yelp. read more

My Dear Friend is at Sunrise of Orange, there was not much time to move him to a new location. From the beginning we were treated with respect any question we had was answered. Let's face it it's not easy when you hear hospice. Tifney is great, we have lived in the same community for over 10 years and she works there, she is the Director of Sales. She invited my friend and her children to come check it out. WOW...huge difference from where her husband was at now keep in mind we were NOT given any choices the hospital chose the first place. Bryan, the Executive Director is fantastic, the caregivers and nurses at the community are all so helpful and really caring individuals! I don't think I have seen so many smiling faces! There are activities during the week, some Saturday afternoons entertainment comes in and the baby grand piano is used and a singer is there. I am happy and my friend seems to be happy there too! There is sunshine in his room and that is delightful. I just want to say THANK YOU to the staff at Orange Sunrise for taking such GREAT care of my friend. read more
