Cordia is a wonderful place!…read more Our culture is such that mothers expect to remain in the house of one of their daughters until their death, however my house has stairs and is too dangerous for my mom. She was resistant to being anywhere but with family so moving her to Cordia produced a lot of anxiety for her. Thankfully, the wonderful staff at Cordia - from the lobby workers to the maintenance workers to the amazing dining room staff - all worked their magic to make her feel treasured and safe. Personally, I see that the staff at Cordia are very satisfied working with the senior residents there. I engage in conversations with them and am grateful for their kindness and respect for the residents and for each other. Cordia has a wonderful line-up of daily activities and they also have special activities for holidays. I'm super pleased to see my mom engaging in different activities that she never had done before Cordia. For example, I used to try to have her do chair workouts with me but she had always refused. Now at Cordia, she's down in the workout room at least 3 times a week!!! I think Cordia has given her new life! She was always very anxious about food owing to issues with onions and other spices, but has had no problems at all since at Cordia. She loves their food! I'm very, very pleased with Cordia. I highly recommend this senior living facility!

My mother has lived at the Birches for several years, and she absolutely loves it! I love it, too,…read moreand here are some of the reasons why: Unlike other assisted living facilities, the Birches feels like home. The facility is beautifully maintained, featuring lovely gardens, a cozy fireside room for reading/socializing, and a welcoming dining room (among other things). Residents are treated like family. The staff is absolutely outstanding! They really take the time to get to know each and every resident, and it's oh-so-evident how much they care. Not only are they responsive to my questions, but they always seem to be a step ahead with whatever my mother needs. There are an abundance of activities to cater to any interest: games, musical performances, meditation, exercise, crafts. Residents are encouraged to participate, but they're left with plenty of autonomy to decide for themselves. The dining room feels like an actual restaurant. The servers quickly learned my mother's preferences, making her feel incredibly special. The food is excellent, and it's always served with warmth and a smile. The director of the Birches leads with love. She sets the tone for the whole place, and it comes across in everything they do. I could go on and on. If you're looking for assisted living for a loved one, the Birches is the best! Highly, highly recommend!

Writing this review as an employee under a different name for my privacy…read more I am absolutely DISGUSTED by this place. I have worked in healthcare for quite some time and NEVER had an experience like I did here. Staff is INSANELY abusive both verbally and physically. During my training, one of the workers smacked a patient. I couldn't believe my eyes. There was another staff member telling dementia patients on the 2 nd floor "shut up" or "shut the f&$k up" because they were screaming at him to get out of their room.. i wonder why!? I also witnessed a nurse get into a residents face and threaten to cut his private off. Telling him she was going to bite his finger off too and cursing at him just because he was confused and wanted to take a shower. Another cna was working with a combative patient and said "go ahead b$)ch hit me, I hit back" Another patient on hospice covered in bruises and the girl told me they have no idea what happened!! WHAT?! I didnt even finish my training I could not get out of there fast enough. I wanted to stay and be a gentle hand in a not so gentle place but I want no part of it. The management HAS to know the patients are being treated so poorly. My heart absolutely BREAKS for these people. I feel physically sick thinking about it. The place is also FILTHY. Ask for a full tour. Bathrooms in the rooms are moldy, toilets are never flushed or cleaned, feces everywhere. Trash everywhere. The rooms are all a mess. So dirty id be shocked if they dont have bugs and mice. your loved ones will get diaper changes once a shift, if that. There was a man wearing the same clothes for 5 days!!! So that means no shower? Just awful. Please dont send your loved ones here. The strive unit and downstairs might look halfway decent but im telling you, its not. And to the managers and staff that might read this, DO BETTER. If you dont have compassion and patience you are in the WRONG career field. It is SO easy to be loving and kind to these sweet people. I look at them like family. I get emotionally attached to my patients. The patients have liquor in their rooms and go outside at all hours of the night smoking. Its a complete free for all. Physical fights happen, police get called ect. A nursing home is a home, it should be a safe place for our elderly to spend the little time they have left to be NURSED and NURTURED. Not abused and neglected and have to see and hear complete chaos. This place absolutely needs to be shut down. The turnover rate is insane. They said the place is better than it used to be and they made a lot of changes. I cant imagine how much worse it could be. The management also lied during orientation saying they dont have psych patients and if people are combative they send them out? Dont let them fool you. They also said if you quit within 90 days they will charge you for your uniform. Oh well.

No clue where all these great reviews are coming from. However, I will say that it was not that bad…read moreseveral months ago, and the short term rehab (downstairs) isn't bad. I am not sure what changed, except for the social worker for one, and I believe the "PT Director ". If you are planning on thinking about this place for long term, here are my suggestions...#1 ask them to tour the 2nd floor. If you can get beyond the strong smell of fecal matter you're halfway there, and if you can get by the line of residents blocking hallways waiting for their medication then great ( oh but don't forget to ask for the elevator code as these people are locked up there) #2 if your loved one must leave the facility for any length of time TAKE ALL OF THIER BELONGINGS because I speak from experience you will NOT get them back. #3 Plan on checking on your loved one daily to see if they have been changed (waited 2 hours for my mom to get cleaned up after sitting in a bowel movment ) and had to start marking bandages to see if they were changed every day. #3 Document EVERYTHING because the "administration staff" cannot keep their stories straight, and take pictures. #4 You need to call and nag constantly to get them to take your loved one back to the hospital because clearly they are not well, and do not let the "medical staff" tell you THEY don't see a medical reason (agaim speaking from experience, my mom had a UTI that I was told was too much for a nursing facility to handle. You can never get a hold of a nurse as they never pick up. I get that there are staffing shortages but we could not get a hold of my mom for quite some time. I called the front desk and the super sweet receptionist was going to go up and check herself if nobody picked up. The poor front desk ladies must take a lot of beatings but there are 3 of them that are so nice and so helpful. I may seem like a "Karen" and honestly I don't care, I want people to know before sending their loved ones there all of the issues and to save people the heartache

I do not know how this place has good reviews in Google. This has got to be one of the worse…read morefacilities. Notice how there are no pictures of the upstairs? They take residents stuff and lie to their family members. I had to change my moms bandages and made sure to mark them so I was able know if they were or were not changing them. This is not a place to take someone when they have to rely on others

I find this place comical…read more The so-called paid professionals allow residents to scream for dear life and they "laugh". Someone from the facility threatened me, when I said I "should've taken pictures and videos". As a human, you get tired of the same routine, I get that. If someone is "not cut out to be part of the solution, to someone's life.......then don't become a burden upon them and make their problems larger". Yes the nurses are rude. The reviews before me, are factual. Sad part is, MOST nursing facilities are doing "cut-backs". They are cutting back on man-power and supplies. Yet they want the residents to tolerate the torture. Also, I've been told that 1-2 people "OWN MORE THAN 1 FACILITY". The name changes within facilities, the cut-backs, layoffs, extra upset employees and residents are due to "New Ownership". Now I sleep with a clean conscience. I empathize with the residents - unfortunately the Staff does not and they mock the residents, in their face. They don't hide their feelings about residents. I don't understand HOW you expect to take from someone's social security/medicare/medicaid/retirement fund to treat them horribly. Physical therapy and Nurses are JOKES !!
