When we were ready for my son to get braces we made a few appointments for a consult with various doctors based on word of mouth. It was my son's decision since it was his mouth. You'll find places that have game rooms, a frozen yogurt machine, etc...all in the name of getting your business. What mattered to my son was his one on one relationship with the doctor that would essentially be in his mouth and making a life change for him. As soon as the consult was over a year ago...my son chose Dr. Jason Rice...none of those other frou-frou bells & whistles were important. My son has been seeing Dr. Rice for about a year now and making progress. Dr. Rice is always friendly and personable to us and my son. It makes a huge difference when the doctor has a good rapport with the patient and family. My son still has a few hurdles to get past and several months to go. But I would recommend Dr. Rice to anyone seeking an orthodontist. I would like to add that we've been "too" early to appointments and he always manages to fit us in when we expected to wait from our error. There are two offices for your convenience...one in Jacksonville and one in Ponte Vedra (Nocatee). The office staff is friendly for the most part. We've only had one slightly rude issue and that person we haven't seen in a long time. We actually look forward to catching up to a few of the staff members. After all, isn't it important to have a good relationship along with quality work? Especially when it comes to your mouth? Not that it matters, but there is free Wi-Fi in the office. Plus, the offices are very "homey" and the Nocatee location has an amazing view. TMI: Dr. Rice always wears crazy socks, so it's always interesting to see what he has on. Note: We do not have dental insurance, but we are veterans. Dr. Rice gave us a little discount since we do not have insurance. Plus, we are set up on a payment plan to spread it out so we don't notice it as much. Very helpful!

We had Ms. Sammi as our hygienist and she was super personable and kept the convo going. Ms. Sammi was great, cleaned my littles teeth (I'm pretty sure he didn't even know he got his teeth cleaned he was so distracted). In that time, span the dental services were impeccable, a huge surprise, especially off after coming off of active-duty and seeing how the government takes care of your teeth in the military to this place was amazing to see there was such fine dental dentistry outside of the military. My wife and I made appointments to be seen here and had our teeth cleaned every six months. I had a few fillings filled here and often talked to the dentist about the type of procedures of modern dentistry that they use and was highly impressed with both Mr. and Mr. Dr. Stevens work. The process in which they take to photograph every tooth in your mouth bite wings x-rays you name it and then be able to produce a color, digital photo of your teeth that you can view in person there at your appointment and the dentist can point out things to look for on your teeth or concerns that they see that you can't see. I was a little overwhelmed by all of the TVs in each room, but I guess people like to watch TV while they're getting their teeth cleaned coming from the older times they never had these entertainment options in the past. Walking into the office, it was always clean. The ladies were always friendly and helpful at the front desk. They had complementary drinks while you're waiting for your appointment however, I never waited any longer than 20 minutes to be seen the wait times were very quick and the cleanings were very thorough.A I felt very comfortable coming to this dentist. Towards the end of 2022 when I was coming in for my annual check up, I was in the process of scheduling for a crown to be placed on one of my back molars after insurance it was $1500 out-of-pocket which I was happy to pay, considering the impressive work that this dentist office had already shown me. And they dropped me right then and there are like a bad habit. I haven't been back to a dentist in 3 years because it's hard to find a good quality dentist like these folks and when you build a dentist patient relationship it's hard to start over somewhere else. **Overall, this dentist office did really good work. Dr. J. went above and beyond to make sure the temporary fit perfect. They also have state of the art equipment to find cavities under previous fillings and crowns to prevent possible very expensive root canals down the road.
