I am really glad I did not read these reviews before we signed up with SunRun, which as an avid Yelper, I should have. This will be a long but detailed review... We had two young men approach our house in early October soliciting for SunRun. We had a No Soliciting sign in our yard so that was annoying. We sent them on there way as they had no ID or any actual SunRun literature...very sketchy... Later that week we were in Costco and saw the SunRun booth. I went over to them and commented about the guys that came to our home. He looked us up on their system and said..."Oh I see they flagged your house"...I asked what that meant and he said it meant that those guys would get credit for any sales if we went with SunRun...I said "absolutely not." The young man was very apologetic and took the "hold" off our home. I asked to have a local rep call us since we actually had been considering getting solar panels. The above situation is why I took off one star...Sunrun needs to stop with this type of door to door "marketing"... it is annoying and off putting. Now for the good stuff...Our rep was Luke Caywood. He arrived at our house professionally dressed with all the information we could ask for...too much sometimes..there is a lot to learn. He was very polite, answered all our questions and was a straight talker. He was very careful in explaining why they need to see the electric use for the past year and asked about any future usage we may have...electric car, hot tubs. pools etc. He took all that into account when deciding on the size of our system so we would avoid any "true up" bills at the end of the year. This I have learned is the most important part. I called him yesterday and he was happy to answer a couple questions I had about the billing process and offered to go over it again when we actually get our first bill. We elected to purchase our system and got the Tesla Powerwall as well. Madeline was our contact through out the rest of the install process. She was always very responsive via text with all the scheduling information and followed up with a minor concern we had. She resolved it quickly and everything was good. Joe was our job foreman. My husband just retired from PG&E (Diablo Canyon) as an electrical and welding quality inspector so he is pretty picky about how things are done. He had nothing but great things to say about the crew who worked on our house. They were all professional, polite, they cleaned up and most important...they did a great job with the install..and my husband double checked :-) Thomas was the technician that came to set up the Tesla Powerwall and while there was an issue with a piece of equipment that would not connect to our router, Thomas came back the next day and had everything working before he left. The permit process was smooth sailing and we just got our official "go" from PG&E yesterday. So about about two months from start to finish...not bad. I am very impressed with the level of service that we have received so far and will defiantly be recommending SUNRUN through Costco to my friends...oh and the Costco Cash Card I will be getting is going to be really nice for my summer vacation this year :-)

We started talking to Sunrun in September 2021. We requested a consult and someone came out the very next day. It was a super informative meeting and we were able to get all of our questions answered. Being Costco members, we were able to lock in a super low interest rate that no other solar companies had been able to offer us. We signed the papers and agreed to move forward. Our existing roof was going to need to be replaced, too, and Sunrun offered that we finance the roof and solar through them, which was very appealing. Plus, we were given a $4k credit on the roof since we went with Sunrun for the work. Sunrun made it clear early on that we'd want the new roof and solar installed in the same year to maximize the tax credit. Since it was already September, we weren't sure everything would fall into place by the end of the year. Sunrun warned us that permits could be slow for our county too. The rep we were working with became harder and harder to reach once we were locked in. That was super frustrating. Months went by without many updates. One day a roofer contacted us to set up a date to begin the work, but Sunrun never confirmed that with us. It was a little confusing. We ended up letting our rep know the roof work was scheduled. However, once the roof install had a date, the solar work was scheduled the very next week. Everything was installed March 2022 (so basically 6 months from our original meeting with them). The install of the solar only took a day and it looks so good. We are very happy with all of the work and the outcome. It was frustrating to have to wait for the solar to actually get turned on, though, and it took us contacting Sunrun to find out what the hold up was. PG&E said they hadn't received any paperwork to activate the system, and then Sunrun said we needed to sign the docs. However, Sunrun realized they never sent us final paperwork to sign. So, make sure you are proactive and stay on Sunrun to get everything moving along. Our system was activated Friday, so about a month after the install. The app has been really exciting to use and track the energy being created. We are really happy with it. We have 17 months now to pay as much as we want towards the loan and be able to lower our monthly payment for the rest of the life of the loan. I like that flexibility.

Well it is now August 20th and our Sunrun Solar panels and Tesla Batteries have been installed on June 16th 2021, but for some reason Sunrun can't seemed to get the PG&E metering documents sent over to PG&E to finalize my application. So I can start seeing credit for any Solar Generation of Electricity. PG&E states twice that they have not received signed documents through Docusign through SUNRUN. But I have proof from Docusign that both times the documents were sent with my signature. I have contacted the following people out of the San Luis Obispo office regarding this issue and still waiting! Auston Allen - 805-234-6704 - (Orginal Sales person) John Sinner - 805-234-6704 - (Sales Manager over Mr. Auston Allen) Project Managers - Angela Gail Maminta - Rose Hall 805-540-5493 - Andrew Hewat 720-731-7358 - I have called numerous managers regarding activation through PG&E When I call concerning customer service all I get is a call center person who is reading off a computer screen. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10223417948611003&id=1055911886

Our Sunrun Solar System is up and collecting power. Great installation.

The salesman, Jeff was extremely helpful and communicative in explaining to me our roofing options (needing replacement due to the prior roof's age) and the solar system we would need to minimize any future payments to PGE as well as obtaining tax credits and rebates. We had a complication in that we were in the process of purchasing the house and the purchase was not set to go final until early-mid December 2025. Also, the holidays. Axiom staff stepped up big time. Even though they had other projects in the works, they squeezed us in. These complications required continuous coordination between Axiom representatives with the prior home owner (who was still occupying the house), and separately me because the prior owner's agent made it clear that the sellers and buyers (me) were not to directly communicate. In other words, Axiom had to work this project with two "owners" of the house, owners that were instructed to not talk to each other. As I was a "newbie" to solar I had lots of questions (and a desire for perfection). Clay and Justin were extremely patient with me every time I emailed, called, texted or visited their shop (to drop off payments) to coordinate the work, and for them to explain exactly what was being installed and all the installation steps that were being taken. I especially want to call out Justin and Sean for making sure we got the system hooked up as quickly as possible to PGE to export energy to the grid. Sean came by twice after the installation was complete, first to ensure PGE would bless the hookup and second to walk me through the system and show me how to work the App. The roof looks great and the system is working great. I strongly recommend these folks for roofing and solar system installations.

I contacted the company that had installed Tesla batteries and additional solar panels in 2023 but received no support, just evasion and obfuscation. I contacted other installers about working on my problem, but they all turned me down. If anything, my search became even more difficult because of the midyear revision of the expiration date of the residential federal solar credit from yearend 2034 to yearend 2025. That seemed to intensify installer focus on securing and completing installation of new systems by the 12/31/25 dateline. By September I still had not found anyone to help me, but my luck changed that month. Some weeks before that I had looked at Photon Bros central California website but held off contacting them because a note there stated that they were doing repair work only for current customers. In September I decided to call and ask about them working on my problem in 2026. The person I spoke to took my name and phone number and said he would pass it on to Photon Brothers office in Colorado. In about a day or so I got a call from Service Coordinator Jake Brann and that set things into motion which resulted in power generation being almost entirely restored by early December. Service Tech Ruben Quintero discovered a defective junction box in which connections for a 10 panel array were burned out. He replaced the box and the connections. Ruben also noticed that an optimizer on another panel needed to be replaced. Jake ordered a replacement from SolarEdge. It took a while for that to be shipped but it was installed in early June. Monthly system output exceeds levels from two years ago.

One of the selling points was that we would be able to receive a rebate from Central Coast Community Energy (3CE) upon completion of the project. Photon Brothers told us that they would help us with the rebate and application process. Although they did help with the application process, they failed to explain many of the requirements needed to obtain the rebate. For instance, we were never told that we had to program our battery to discharge at least 50% of its capacity daily during peak hours for a two-week period while 3CE would monitor the battery system. Upon completion of the application it stalled, because we did not know about this requirement. At least half a dozen phone calls were made to 3CE to try and figure why we were not getting our rebate. It took us over a year to figure this out, with NO HELP from Photon Brothers. Their response was something akin to, "This is between you and 3CE." A simple explanation would have relieved us of much aggravation. We finally received our rebate in March of 2026, well over a year from when we first applied. In addition, we never received instructions from Photon Brothers on how to use the Tessla App to maximum the benefits of the battery system. When we would call Photon Brothers for help with the App, sometimes we received assistance, while other times, no one called us back. We watched the Tessla Battery videos and did not find them helpful. In conclusion, we are disappointed with the lack of support received from Photon Brothers.

After interviewing approximately seven solar companies, reading reviews, comparing pricing,…read moreevaluating customer service, and reviewing BBB ratings, I ultimately chose SunMade Solar Energy to expand my existing solar system. One thing that stood out immediately was that their pricing was highly competitive with the other companies I considered. While pricing was important, what really set SunMade apart was that they hold both solar and roofing licenses. This gave me additional confidence because I previously had a bad experience with another solar company that damaged my roof, failed to fix the problem, and later went out of business, leaving me to pay for the repairs myself. Our sales representative, Jon Bernal, was professional, patient, and knowledgeable. He answered all of my questions and never made me feel rushed. There was one item that the system designer later clarified, and although it wasn't a major issue, Jon personally reached out to notify me of the changes. That level of integrity and accountability meant a lot to me and demonstrated that he genuinely cares about his customers. The installation crew was professional, arrived on time, kept the work area clean, and communicated well throughout the process. After installation, I noticed a section of concrete that had become uneven due to settling. I contacted SunMade, and they returned within days to correct the issue and followed up to ensure everything was satisfactory. That kind of customer service is becoming increasingly rare. The entire process moved efficiently. Our first meeting with Jon was on March 28, we signed on March 30, the system was installed on April 27, the meter collar was installed on May 13, and we received Permission to Operate about a week later. Jon also helped us identify and secure available rebates. I would also like to thank Tara in the office. When I needed copies of my contract documents, she provided them promptly and without hesitation. Another positive observation is that the owner, Oz, appears to be actively involved with the company and personally responds to customer reviews. I noticed this during my initial research and felt it reflected a company that values customer feedback and satisfaction. At the time of this review, SunMade Solar Energy held an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau. Based on my experience, they delivered competitive pricing, excellent communication, professional workmanship, and outstanding customer service. I would not hesitate to recommend SunMade Solar Energy to anyone considering solar for their home.
