My wife and I stopped by this luggage store inside Westfield Topanga mall yesterday. This store is on the first floor next to Nordstrom. We saw they were having a sale and my wife saw a Minnie mouse luggage for our daughter so we came to look at it. The lady working was very nice to us and she speaks Spanish so it was easier for my wife to communicate. This store also sells sunglasses too so I looked at their Oakley selection. The price of the luggage was reasonable so my wife got it. read more

To start I bought a pair of sunglasses which I later went to return. To some degree, I should've asked what the return policy was so when I went to return it all I ended up getting was store credit. There wasn't a sign indicating what the policy is. I returned to the store a week later to see if I can pick out a pair of sunglasses. I found a pair I liked and purchased them. When I got home, my wife stated I probably could've found it for less on-line. I agreed that I prob could have but the difference shouldn't be significant because they were Prada's. To my surprise, I paid 2x what the sunglasses were going for on-line. Often times, you'll find a 10-20% swing in price by purchasing a product on-line. A 2x difference just means this store is unethical and abuses their customers. I will NEVER shop at this store again and will be sure to file a complaint w the BBB. read more

Dropped in here for one of those inflatable travel neck pillows. First time in here and they have a huge selection of luggage to look at. I didn't look at the prices, but the ambiance in the store as well as the staff made it feel high end, which usually means high prices. The neck pillow was of superior quality, so I'm guessing they choose their brands carefully instead of stocking just anything. I would definitely return if I need some sunglasses or bags, just to check out the prices. Just one more thing to add... So I bring the pillow up to the register. The clerk begins handwriting the product code onto one of those 3x5-inch customer receipt books with the carbon-copy duplicates. She writes down the name of the product, model number, and price. Then she pulls out a calculator (!) and calculates the tax and the total. I was worried they weren't going to accept my credit card and I'd have to use confederate greenbacks to pay for this transaction. But other than the extra wait, this place seems nice. read more

I to came to purchase some Maui Jim Sunglasses on a trip to LA. Days later I realize they are fakes and try returning them to realize they do not accept returns, only store credit, I do the return and they do not issue the full return for credit and eat the tax charge and make me pay full price for two pairs of Ray Bans only to find out that these are fakes as well. Spent over $400 on fake sunglasses. STAY AWAY!! read more

And me and my boyfriend found a pair of Celine's we had been looking for that were discontinued and we found them here and they had two for buy one get one free!! Before I get into my actual review, I wanted to give an overview of what Sunsations offers at their store. From what I understand, Sunsations is a fairly new store, or chain of stores, that started appearing not too long ago. I could be wrong about this. Anyway, for the most part, they sell certain travel items one would use when traveling (obviously). Most of what I saw in my store contained travel bags, backpacks, and sunglasses. Although I can't speak for the travel bags or backpacks, I will say the sunglasses were fairly priced and not too expensive (compared to other stores). Now onto the review...... I don't write a lot of reviews on yelp, but I feel like I had to for Sunsations Topanga. Whenever I go shopping, I have an assumption of what the customer service is going to be like, and for the most part, my assumptions ring true. Usually, I get mediocre or okay customer service from different people at different stores. This never offended me. It's just the way most stores operate. With that said, I had a totally different experience at Sensations. When I first came to Sunsations, a few weeks ago, the specialist working there, Candy, greeted me. At the time, I told her I was looking for a pair of new polarized sunglasses because my old ones were old and starting to break. Before entering, I had a bad feeling that I was going to be talked into buying sunglasses right away, rather than taking my time to think about it and see what fit right. I was rather surprised due to the fact that the young lady, Candy, did not do anything that I assumed. She was very patient with me, let me try on the sunglasses, and didn't mind that I wanted to think it over before buying the sunglasses. She also informed me that she could give me a 10% discount off of the sunglasses, which isn't much, but I still really appreciated it. After talking to her and trying on some of the sunglasses, I pretty much knew which ones I wanted, but still wanted to think it over. She said that was fine. When I returned the second time, Candy greeted me again. She was just as nice, if not more so, than before. She asked how I was doing and was curious if I had made my decision yet. Unfortunately, I was still undecided about the sunglasses because I heard that my old ones could be fixed at a store that specializes in those types of things, but at the same time, they were pretty old. I asked Candy some more questions about the sunglasses and pricing. She answered everything that I needed to know and was very helpful. I told her that I would most likely buy the sunglasses next week and informed her that I was still a little unsure. Today, I finally decided to buy the Sunglasses. Like before, I went into the store and was greeted, again, by Candy. She was very easy-going and laid back, which is the kind of customer service I love. I told her that I was definitely sure of buying the Ray-Ban sunglasses. While she was writing the receipt up and finishing other stuff, we had a very friendly talk. It was incredibly relaxing and so much different than my experience at other stores. In fact, I even told her that I would rather shop at Sunsations than another similar shop because her service towards me was excellent. It saddens me that this store is always pretty empty whenever I come. I mean, I guess it makes sense since Sunsations Topanga is fairly new and everything, but the customer service here is excellent. Candy truly knows how to make customers feel comfortable and treats them like people, which I almost never feel in other stores. Store employees from different shops and retail stores should be more like Candy and actually be nice to the people who take time to shop at their stores, rather than take advantage of them and try to make as much money as possible, which is always a negative aspect I see in retail. You don't sell items and keep customers coming back by being a robot and only thinking of the word "SALE" in your head. You do it by being a normal human being who's trying to help you make an informed and right decision. I am someone who currently works at a theater and always do my best to give the customers what they want and at a fair price. Still, even with that said, Candy inspires me to do better. That's just how good she is. She's amazing and I applaud her for being so kind and patient with me during my shopping experiences at Sunsations. We need more people like her, not just in retail, but also in the world. I plan on recommending a ton of my friends at Cal State Northridge to shop here if they ever need anything. A+ P.S. Amazing Customer Service!!! I travel a lot and have always been a Samsonite customer. It was time for a new suitcase. Sarin was an unbelievable help at their Topanga store. She recommended a variety of options. Sarin was very knowledgeable and patient and even though there were other customers in the store, I never felt rushed. I decided for a different brand for a variety of reasons. Unfortunately after my first flight, the suitcase had an unusual amount of markings and scratches. I was disappointed as the suitcase was a higher-end piece of luggage. The airline said, it was a manufacturer error. The manufacturer said it would fall within the "spectrum of normal wear and tear." I was not pleased. I contacted the store again. Sarin said, she would forward my contact information and number to the owner, Tony. Even though Tony has about 6 stores, believe it or not, Tony contacted me within the hour. As I was not able to pick up the phone, he then texted me his contact information to please call him back. That he could give me such personal service as if I am his only customer, is quite amazing in today's corporate world of downsizing, long holds and constant delays. Tony, personally, took over my problem and contacted the manufacturer. With alot of creative, solution-oriented negotiations and patience, he was able to find a solution so that I could switch my luggage out and get a new piece. Fantastic customer service. My husband purchased an expensive suitcase for me which I wanted to return after Christmas and I was told I could only get store credit even though I had a receipt. The store clerk never told my husband about the no refund policy. read more
