Let me preface this review with the fact that I had been in severe tooth pain for about 2 weeks straight, living off of Ibuprofen and tylenol. On my journey to figure out what was going on with my tooth, I went to 3 different dentists who couldn't figure out the issue. It wasn't until Dr. Dan Smith walked in the room that I felt a rush of reassurance, trust, and kindness. Dr. Dan has an incredibly caring bedside manner mixed in with the utmost professional demeanor in his responses to your questions. He took his time with my care, listened to my complaints until I was done giving him all the information that was important to me, and he reassured me with confidence in his answers. I cannot recommend this establishment and Dr. Dan enough. For the first time I felt cared about and that I was in good hands. It took Dr. Dan no more than a couple minutes to come up with the cause to all my tooth pain / issues. Their pricing is beyond fair compared to the surrounding dental offices. The entire staff up front was helpful and thorough. It was the most pleasant experience I've had going to a dental office in my 32 years of life. Thank you Dr. Dan and Bark River Dental! The filling I received fell out shortly after. Since then, I've had jaw pain, ear crackling, and tooth sensitivity I didn't have before. My bite is now misaligned and I constantly bite the inside of my cheek. When I came back in pain, I was told it was "just TMJ" without any X-rays, and was pushed to buy 150 units of Botox instead of investigating the issue. The filling fell out the next day. They've also combined my billing with another patient I'm not even married to, which is unprofessional. Overall, a very disappointing and frustrating experience. They also will not answer my email and keep sending me a bill.

Dr. Clausius and his team are smart, efficient, and not trying to squeeze money out of you like some other doctors I have dealt with. I mean, seriously, today the man corrected a weak bond tooth created by an oral surgeon and didn't even charge me for another doctor's error! I have an in-process implant going on right now, so I need a temporary implant cover that can last for more than a couple weeks...but I digress. Dr. Clausius agreed to squeeze me into the schedule on a day when we both had busy schedules. Academic exams for me, dental exams for him. He not only allowed a short notice visit, but he did not charge me for the visit despite the urgent nature. I feel safe here and I will plan to sign my daughters up for care here next. This is a genuine family doctor, with emphasis on family. Thanks to my husband for recommending this place. The secretary is genuinely nice and all the techs so far are great. I finally hung up and drove to their office just o find out..oops, they just called it in. THEN the worst part comes. Both my daughter and I inform them she has terrible TMJ and needs a break to close her mouth every 10-15 minutes. Sure, ok, no problem we are told. NOPE, once they started, they NEVER stopped. She was crying in pain and they just kept saying we can't stop. "The mouth guard won't be sanitary anymore". SO use a NEW one, like other better dentists do!!! Ordered a panoramic xray with out getting pre authorization even though I had one done the year before. After the xray expressed great concern with the blockage in my sinus. I was able to get an emergency appointment with an ENT doctor at Summit. he looked at the xray pictures i took with my phone and laughed. "I really dislike when inexperienced dentist do this! This is common in 25% of population and poses no threat what so ever." I called Delafield dentist immediately after my appointment to tell them of the doctors opinion. It was like deaf ears! Dental insurance would not cover the xray. Said it was a medical claim. Medical would not cover the $275.00 saying it was unauthorized and/or not pre-authorized. After 18 months of this with them, they sent me to collections. I have shared all the details with two of the accounts receivable team. Both were sympathetic to what happened and neither felt I should have to incur this cost. On top of that...they wanted me to book a deep cleaning for 2 teeth. I mad an appointment for it and my follow up for 6 months. Two weeks before the deep cleaning appointment I had to cancel it due to overseas travel. I received a voicemail that they would cancel it and my next scheduled cleaning. I was told for legal reasons they could not clean my teeth before the I had the deep cleaning! I called when I got back. Obviously my cleaning appointment was gone, i needed to wait another 4 months past my scheduled cleaning to get a new appointment. Then was told they WILL NOT schedule it until after the 2 tooth deep cleaning was completed. I found a new dentist! What a shame to treat a client like that. For this reason I can not recommend this dentist and practice to anyone.

Dr. Caputo was able to see me this morning at 8:00. He was able to save the tooth and put on a temporary crown. Permant crown will be put on next week. I only mention this little experience because sometimes my friends are looking for a dentist for whatever reason. I highly recommend Dr. Caputo. He and his staff are so kind, friendly and professional. He believes that he should try to do anything to save the tooth, rather than pull it. He's a good guy. Give him a try.
