WOW. Sunset Grill was really good. The interior was a chain breakfast/brunch vibe as you'd expect. The wait staff was above and beyond and the food was excellent! The pancake, egg, hash brown combo yielded two full plates of food for a very reasonable price. My meal of just three pancakes was also extremely filling and non expensive. Something about these pancakes - they were dense and a chewy consistency. Just right! The maple syrup, as you'd imagine, really brought the whole meal together. Overall, I appreciate Sunset Grill, and I'll definitely make it a point to be back next time I'm in Canada.

A disappointing breakfast experience in Toronto's newest mall.

Average experience. The atmosphere of the restaurant isn't pleasant due to the high exposed ceilings that seem to amplify the sound of everything from crying babies to the crashing of pots and pans from the kitchen. My Great Canadian omelet was all right but the amount of greasy cheese was overwhelming and the bacon inside of it wasn't crispy as I would expect it to be. The bread was fresh but my fried potatoes had green and rotten parts in them that I had to put on a side plate. You'd expect the cooks not to serve those to customers. My husband left behind most of his bacon and fried potatoes as he said they just weren't good. The waitress was friendly but very distracted. I'd rather drive further down St Clair to Boom for better quality food and service.

Our family of 3 asked when placing our order if our home fries could be cooked longer and/or be crispy. The waitress told us she would try and ask but wasn't sure because it was busy. Our food came and our home fries looked like boiled potatoes that had barely hit the flat top for browning. We asked the waitress why they weren't able to accommodate our requests and she said if we wanted them crispy she would take them back and we would have to wait 20 min. We asked why wasn't the request put forth when giving in our order since that was what we asked for and she stated that on weekends they are very busy and everyone asks for it and if they were to accommodate everyone it would be crazy. I questioned her if everyone asks then why do they not provide crispier home fries and she got upset and said she would take our food back and we said no at this point and continued on with our meal since we didn't want to wait an additional 20 min. My husband then saw her go to the gentleman that was attending to all the payments from customers (we were assuming he was the manager or owner) and told him what we were asking for and he squinted his face in and shook his head as if he was saying no way and as if we had asked and brought something up so ridiculous. We couldn't believe how horrible the customer service was. The waitress did not even ask us how our meal was while we were eating and asked the table next to us loudly so we could hear. The message we clearly got is that this location only cares about pushing food out as fast as they can so get the next table in. They do not care about their customers and cannot even provide the basic of customer service. We definitely will not be going back for this reason on how something so simple was mismanaged and poorly taken care of. Since it was horrible service we did not tip. We always tip over and beyond but definitely felt the woman did not deserve anything with her attitude and how she handled the situation. Breakfast here is so so and the only thing going for them is the location. I'm sure that's all they're counting on for business and will continue with crappy service. Hopefully more people can provide their reviews and make them realize there is a way of handling customers better than they currently are.

Really crispy and delicious, they were definitely prepared well and hit the spot. I couldn't have asked for better hashbrowns. The buttermilk biscuits were also really fluffy and tasted good. No complaints here. The Hot Turkey French Toast however... I think they should remove this off the menu. We ordered it because it sounded interesting and we like to think of ourselves as adventurous foodies, but oh wow this was bad! We ate 2 bites each and couldn't eat more. Its just really dense and fatty and the gravy is way too overpowering and the flavors just don't go together. We were starving and hadn't eaten all day and couldn't get ourselves to eat more than 2 bites because we were frankly disgusted. It tasted really bad. DO NOT ORDER THIS. We came for a 2pm lunch on a Tuesday, and they told us the wait would be around 15-20mins which we said was fine. However, we ended up waiting 40mins, and we suspect that they let other people in front of us (told there were 2 parties of 2 in front of us but let in 3 parties). It gave diner vibes but was definitely more cramped. Was busier than I expected on a random Tuesday at 2pm. Low rating is for the awful main and the longer-than-promised wait time. But I do have to give them credit for the tasty apps. We might've just ordered the wrong thing on the menu but we're not coming back to find out, especially if the wait will always be this long.

The atmosphere was welcoming and had the classic charm you'd expect from a neighborhood favorite. Unfortunately, our experience didn't quite live up to the hype. The food was decent but fairly average. Nothing was particularly bad, but nothing stood out as memorable either. The Irish breakfast was not Irish at all. For a place with such a strong reputation, I expected more flavor and attention to detail. The biggest disappointment was the service. The service was slow, they never checked on the table, and several requests (3 of the 5 drinks, syrup for the french toast, water refills) were either forgotten or took a long time to arrive. The restaurant wasn't especially busy, which made the lack of attentiveness even more noticeable. About 20 mins after we finished our food, we decided to head inside to pay and then our server noticed we left and accused us of walking on our tab but we had the payment receipt! I can see why some people may enjoy this spot, and perhaps I visited on an off day, but based on this experience, I found the food ordinary and the service well below expectations.

Sadly there was no chair for her to sit down on yet it didn't stop her from going to her regular spot for a Sunday brunch. She told me that she has been coming here for many years, even before it was called Sammy's. Has it been 30 years, she asked herself? Either way, she made it known that she is quite the regular. Very nice and friendly lady. These are the types of regulars that make the diner what it is. There is a sign in clipboard at the front, as soon as you walk in. You have to sign in as part of contact tracing in case there is an outbreak of COVID linked back to this establishment. Make sure you do not block the pathway from behind the bar, I didn't block it but a large family with several kids needed a place to stand in line and wait for a big table, because servers will get very mad at you and tell you "I NEED TO GET BY! DON'T BLOCK THE WAY!" But there is no where to stand when the lineup is 20 people deep. This is something to think about once the weather gets colder and there is a long lineup out the door. Perhaps takeout would be a better option than to be yelled at by the short haired waitress with tattoos? While I did not mind waiting and I had a book to occupy my time in the lineup and at the table before I was given the menu, I could see that this was obviously a rush time, prime time lunchtime at the diner, maybe others might be a little more impatient than me? I could watch a snail crawl for hours, patience is a virtue. The wait is very long to get seated and even longer to get food. While the food was pretty good, and the other server was very friendly, attentive and nice, I think they were short staffed that day and nothing is ever as instant as fast food. My advice would be to go here when you have the time to wait. Don't come here if you are in a rush. It's better to only come here when you have lots of time to wait.

Home style food well prepared. Lots of variety in the menu....Staff are good people too.read more

This place is out of this world. The crew here is incredibly friendly and welcoming, proving that if aliens ever do visit Earth, they're apparently running this restaurant. The food deserves its own five stars. We had the Eggs Benedict, Belgian waffles, perfectly crispy home fries, and the absolutely massive 12-ounce steak and eggs. Every bite was fantastic, the portions were enormous, and the prices were shockingly reasonable for Niagara Falls. One of the coolest touches? Instead of waiting for coffee refills, they leave a whole carafe of hot coffee on your table. My caffeine levels reached escape velocity, and I was perfectly happy about it.
