    My delicious eggs sunset!
    Jenny Y.

This is my favourite sunset grill so far! It's the cleanest, has the best atmosphere with the friendliest staff! I got the eggs sunset, and asked for added spinach. The portion is generous-worth the price and it did not disappoint! The eggs were the perfectly cooked (asked for overeasy), delicious home fries and they did not cheap out on the hollandaise sauce. My boyfriend got the sunset super, which he was very pleased with. He's very particular with his pancakes but they were delicious- fluffy, soft and moist! Our server Sarah was great! She was knowledgeable and attentive. Definitely will be coming back here very soon!

This place has very quick and good service. The food is always good and never disappoints. You can't go wrong by the scrambled eggs, potatoes and toast! We generally get the fluffy pancakes and they are delish. We recently visited during Mother's Day and our server was fast and attentive. She brought my son a plastic cup with a straw so he can enjoy his orange juice and refilled our water and coffee. At the end of our meal they gave me a rose which was very sweet! This is my go to breakfast place!!

Corn beef hash and eggs, though half eaten already :)
    Lynn S.

I have not heard good reviews about the Sunset grill breakfast chain but had to check out the one in my area for myself. I would say the service is slow and the food is average, nothing really special. My husband had the cornbeef hash with eggs and I had the chocolate pancakes with a side of peameal bacon. The pancakes seemed small for the price and not as light and fluffy as they advertised. As well, the season on the cornbeef hash was great, the beef was too finely minced that it did not have as much substance as other cornbeef hash we have tasted. Probably what made up for the meal was the freshly ground coffee and the homefries which were well-seasoned and tasted like roasted potatoes and not deep fried.

Best French Toast ever. Service is great and place is family style but not noisy. I'll make this a regular spot for breakfast and lunch.

I had obviously forgotten that I had been here a few years ago, and it was worth the wait! The place has an old-school charm, looking a little worn, but warm and inviting. Some of that worn ambiance is purposeful, and contributes to its appeal as a popular spot for filming TV shows, such as The Handmaid's Tale, Orphan Black, Nikita, Lost Girl, commercials, and many other productions. Their menu is simple and straightforward, offering classic breakfast items and typical diner fare. I settled on their 8oz Minced Sirloin Steak, served with Mushrooms, Gravy, Green Peas, Country Fries, and a Salad. That's a lot of food for under $16.00! The portions were very generous, and the flavours were good. This was a good meal, with really good service. I'll definitely be back to try their burgers, and all-day breakfast. Check out this cozy spot in the Highland Creek area of Scarborough.

I had better food at other restaurants. I came here because after growing up in Scarborough, I never actually visited Teds. The decor is very much like an old-school 1950s diner but the food is nothing to write home about. The prices are half decent but would I come back? Probably not. This is the sort of place you visit to say you did but you won't go back. I had better food elsewhere.

Sadly there was no chair for her to sit down on yet it didn't stop her from going to her regular spot for a Sunday brunch. She told me that she has been coming here for many years, even before it was called Sammy's. Has it been 30 years, she asked herself? Either way, she made it known that she is quite the regular. Very nice and friendly lady. These are the types of regulars that make the diner what it is. There is a sign in clipboard at the front, as soon as you walk in. You have to sign in as part of contact tracing in case there is an outbreak of COVID linked back to this establishment. Make sure you do not block the pathway from behind the bar, I didn't block it but a large family with several kids needed a place to stand in line and wait for a big table, because servers will get very mad at you and tell you "I NEED TO GET BY! DON'T BLOCK THE WAY!" But there is no where to stand when the lineup is 20 people deep. This is something to think about once the weather gets colder and there is a long lineup out the door. Perhaps takeout would be a better option than to be yelled at by the short haired waitress with tattoos? While I did not mind waiting and I had a book to occupy my time in the lineup and at the table before I was given the menu, I could see that this was obviously a rush time, prime time lunchtime at the diner, maybe others might be a little more impatient than me? I could watch a snail crawl for hours, patience is a virtue. The wait is very long to get seated and even longer to get food. While the food was pretty good, and the other server was very friendly, attentive and nice, I think they were short staffed that day and nothing is ever as instant as fast food. My advice would be to go here when you have the time to wait. Don't come here if you are in a rush. It's better to only come here when you have lots of time to wait.

We ordered eggs benedict with by far the best Hollandaise sauce you can get. The poached eggs were medium with lots of yolk to spread on the peameal bacon and english muffin. The shredded potato hashbrown is addictive and massive portions. The baked beans were nice and warm to compliment your breakfast. I ordered the 3 eggs over easy with 3 sausages and 3 bacon. They actually serve 4 eggs which I assume they are using medium sized eggs. That's OK as the extra makes up for the smaller eggs. You get a choice of toast ( white, whole wheat or rye) along with shredded potato hashbrowns or home fries. My mother-in-law ordered the Western Omelet with ham and onion. She really enjoyed the dish and she managed to eat almost half of the dish. The coffee is bottomless and the service is very friendly. I suggest dressing up for the cold weather because you might have to lineup outside the restaurant. I don't think they take reservations and it's first come first serve.

I've been enjoying their delicious steaks for years but things change, and not necessarily for the better. On my last couple visits, they had a very limited selection of steaks, the main reason I go there. This time, I ordered their 8oz Rib-Eye, which was not available. 12oz Rib-Eye, same thing. T-Bone steaks, sold out. I settled on their 16oz Rib-Eye, cooked medium-rare, with their roasted potatoes. It tasted okay but wasn't as tender as in the past and it was cooked unevenly, with parts of it very rare. I had to have a portion of it refired. There was also a large piece of fat, which was inedible. I got the impression that this was cooked from a frozen state. They used to include a salad with their meals but stopped doing that a while back. That's understandable, due to increased costs and the desire to keep meals affordable. The ambiance of this place has also gone downhill, with obvious signs of wear and tear. I've heard rumours of this area being redeveloped. If that's the case, I wouldn't expect any renovations. Too bad...

A couple Saturdays ago, I was running a few errands. Once I was done, I felt like visiting a diner for lunch. I did a search and found Poached Dreams Diner in Aurora. I didn't mind driving up from Markham to check it out. It was straightforward getting here. I parked in the parking lot and walked in from what looked like the back of the diner. There's also a front door with a patio that faces Wellington Street East. I was immediately greeted by a young, enthusiast woman. I let her know that I needed a table for one. She got me to a comfortable booth by the window. The catch is that you have to watch your step to get to your seat. It's a treat when I have breakfast out. I thought that I'd be getting french toast. Well, all that changed when I saw a heading for comfort foods on the menu. Nothing makes me happier than seeing open-faced sandwiches on a menu. It was probably during my days living in Winnipeg that I fell in love with such sandwiches and at least a side. New goal: come here and have every open-faced sandwich on the menu. I got cold water to start. It was refreshing and much needed after running errands. I ordered these items for my meal: - Diet Coke (2) - Hot turkey sandwich with mashed potatoes and veggies My Diet Coke came with a glass with ice. I loved it. I wish the can was larger! I needed a second can for dessert. I loved my hot turkey sandwich. There was a generous amount of sliced turkey smothered in sauce over a slice of white bread. I got to choose my starch. I went with mashed potatoes. There was enough gravy over the turkey that I dunked my spoonfuls of mashed potatoes into it. I loved the steamed veggies. They were perfectly cooked. They also went into the gravy. The meal was delicious. I'd order it again. I felt like dessert. I asked if there was any. Baklava with pistachios. I said yes. I thought that it would be a square or rectangle. Nope. I got a roll. Cool! It was perfect. It had the right amount of honey. It was crispy and yummy. So good! I paid my bill at the table. I tipped and then tapped my credit card. I elected to have the receipt texted to my phone, which also signed me up for its points program. Yay! I learned that this diner has been open since June 2025. I'm always late to any party because I seem to live under a rock or in a cave. I'm glad that I visited this eatery. Great food. Great service. Great! I used the washroom before I left. The women's washroom was clean and had a full-length mirror. This eatery is huge. It looks like there's a cafe for those grabbing coffee and maybe a snack before leaving. I look forward to returning for more good eats and drinks. (148)
