Husband heard about the Sunset Grill on the radio so we decided to check it out. Unfortunately, this was NOT the Sunset Grill they were talking about on the radio. Very, very casual atmosphere. Love walking into a restaurant/bar where everyone turns to look at you and then start whispering. I was ready to jet, but others wanted to check out the outside. Not saying we're all that bougie but to say it has a patio is giving it too much credit. There are table, chairs and benches to sit on. It was toga night but only two of the staff dressed for the occasion and there was a DJ that came on while we waited for our dinner. Giovanni (who did not have on a toga) waited on our party of four and he was the highlight of our experience. He came out with a cocktail, yes cocktail that he claimed to devise that was delicious. Though a member of our party complained that the wine was ready to turn to vinegar, at least on his first glass. We order the chicken wings Garlic & Habanero) which were really good. I had the shrimp scampi which came with garlic bread and salad and all of this was very tasty. Husband had gyro and fries, which were so filling he had to get a to go box. Dinner guests both had the Catch of the Day which turned out to be sole, one grilled, one blackened and salads. He loved the grilled sole, don't think she was too keen on hers. All in all thank goodness the food was so good. I would say this place is designed more for locals because they sure weren't too friendly, except for Giovanni, to tourists and out of town guests. read more

This was a great little hole in the wall. The service was excellent. We got the chicken souvlaki pita and a side salad . Both were full of flavor. The only reason I docked a star is that they give plastic cutlery and there bathroom was extremely small. read more

Went in for an easy Sunday Dinner. Did not realize the place had new owners. We chose the place based on their website menu online. Well, when after arriving and being seated we were given the menu. Let me tell you, what was offered on the menu in front of us, was basically one fifth of what was offered online. No dinners to speak of, very small selection of salads, wraps and sandwiches. I asked our server if the menu was limited because of the recent hurricane, she replied "no, just new owners and they're going to change things around". Well that's find but I would suggest you SHOW the changes ONLINE!!!! Food was just OK, nothing to write home about. Doubt we will return. read more

Besides the fact it being a "Pro-Trump" bar (why bring politics to the night life?) the atmosphere was super dingy inside, outside was a bit more live but 90% of it was creepy dudes/old guys scoping out everyone. a couple girls walked up to us to have a conversation and it was an extremely sketchy and awkward situation, once we asked their ages they quickly mumbled some numbers and walked away... on top of all that, bartender was trashed (i get it was halloween but, come on.) took 10-15 minutes each time to get a few simple drinks. she was too busy hanging out, dancing, and forgetting our orders. we never tried the food, if they had any, so I can't say much about that. On Sunday, June 25, 2023 some friends and I stopped in to have a few beers and catch up. No matter which tapped beer we ordered it was warm to the point we had to keep asking the bartender for cups of ice--to set our cups (plastic) on to try and chill the beer. We told the female bartender about the warm beers and she just shrugged it off--like it happens a lot. You can't tell me she couldn't tell the beers were warm as she held each cup. She also didn't ask for credit cards so that each couple could run a tab; she just wrote one person's name down (per couple) on a pad of paper. Not a very talented way of keeping track. My husband and I got billed for two extra beers. It's hard to believe this placed passed its last inspection on 5/11/2023. The most irritating thing was the bartender didn't even try to apologize. We were all sitting in the room off to the right (as you step inside). The fan above us wasn't working (or if it was no employee thought to turn it on) and there was a tiny a/c unit (shorter than the table) that wasn't accomplishing anything. This place has the worst food. After waiting for over an hour, our food arrived, burnt cold onion rings, nachos with "hormel canned chili" over them and shrimp that were also cold and half dipped in Buffalo sauce. This place is the worst, don't waste your money here. read more

We ended up at Sunset Grille by accident last night. Got a little nervous when I checked the reviews after sitting at a table, but we decided we were already there so we were going to give it a try. Boy am I glad we did. The food and service was amazing! We were a party of 7. We asked the server for food recommendations and she nailed it. Mediterranean nachos and jalapeño poppers with a jam like dipping sauce were amazing! We also had pita chips and tzatziki sauce, Greek chicken wrap, gyro salad and a double decker BLT. All were delicious. They had lots of Greek options but also had plenty of other stuff too. Our servers Lisa and Ashley were fun and took great care of us. Oh, AND, we made a suggestion of making a dessert with the amazing pita chips and the cook was kind enough to make them for us to take home. So glad we accidentally ended up there. read more

A group of 16 of us descended on Sunset Grille this evening. They welcomed us, they set us up quickly. The service was excellent. To have such a large group, they did very well. They have a good beer selection. I got the Parmesan crusted Sole. It was very good with steamed vegetables and a salad. Steamed shrimp were a hit as well as chicken wings. Their fries are battered. I'm so disappointed in the new owners. We called Saturday night to let them know we had 15 people but ended up with 12. They saved a table for us but never told us there was any staffing problems, needless to say it took us an 1 hr and 33 min to receive our food. Prior to getting our orders we never saw the manager RJ/JR to apologize for the wait. We did talk with a blonde woman to explain are concern but was told it was just a busy night. My daughter's mother in law explained that people after us have gotten their food. This woman walked up to our table with her arms full and said hers the plates from a table that got here before you. That was rude and uncalled for. A man came out to try to help which he seemed very nice and cared. He came out of the kitchen 3 minutes later and told us he didn't work work there but was trying to help his wife that did but was told by the manager RJ or JR not to help our table so he wanted us to ask for RJ/-JR and tell him to go F himself. It was all just crazy and not ok with my 5 and 7 yr old grandkids there listening. We will never go there again and I've removed this place from my list of local restaurants for my short term rental. The backyard area is beautiful & a great place to sit, have a drink, eat your dinner, & listen to live music. It is pet friendly too so that is an added bonus. The service is a bit on the slow side but the food is delicious & reasonably priced. If you're not in a rush & want a place to relax with a cold beer this is the place to go. read more

We enjoy a good meal, good service, and a comfortable happy place here at the Sunset Grille. I don't like to eat out in this town- too many places at the beach just have cheap-quick-fried-same old-same old menu items. Not at the Sunset Grille. Cooked to order, fresh and reasonably seasoned QUALITY menu. Original too: everybody loves the Mediterranean Nachos (a luscious platter of de-constructed gyro ingredients, fresh made seasoned pita 'chips', and no skimping on the cheese and olives ! If you care about what you eat, who you keep company with, and the quality of the music (not to mention Wednesday's Karaoke) then this is your new spot indoors or outdoors on the canal. Good food.
