We had a complicated move- we needed two trucks, the trucks needed to be held overnight, my husband had woodworking supplies and I had a voice over booth that needed to be very carefully moved AND to top it off we couldn't start the actual move in to the new place until 4pm the next day! They never batted an eye - from the video walkthrough with Jesse to the incredible team who came for day 1 and day 2... we felt like we were in amazing hands the whole time. They handled all of our (endless) stuff with such care. It was such a well oiled machine!! Don't look any further - HIRE THESE GUYS. I promise - you'll thank me later!! After moving from one apartment to another at a distance of about 1 1/2 miles they wouldn't take things off the truck until I gave the movers a huge tip for the movers. There were three guys and they wanted $500.00. My wife was pregnant at the time and they had no problems hassling and bullying us about the tip. I almost called the police but decided to pay. 4. Unusually large amount of things were broken. If it was porcelain or ceramics (including family heirlooms) it was damaged. If it was wood it was dented. When we mentioned this to them they didn't give us the time of day. We couldn't of had a worse experience. Correction for some reason Yelp says my location is San Francisco Calif. They were even able to refer me to a great storage company. I have to be honest. At first, I was frantic, but their staff were really professional. I can't describe how grateful I am to everyone at this company. They helped me out on such short-notice and were able to make my emergency move hassle free. I also dislike…read moreposting negative reviews, but every time I see a nick or a scratch on a piece of furniture or piece of framed art or think about my mattress that arrived completely covered in mold, or how I had to spend more money to have lamp shades repaired, it really pisses me off. The one star is for how accommodating they were while my belongings were in storage. They allowed me to access my belongings before I left because I had packed something I needed and they allowed my mom to drop off a couple of bags once I had actually moved away. I'm told these were favors as they usually don't allow these things...again though, had I had my own temperature controlled unit, I'd have been able to come and go as I pleased. it could very well be that all of my beef is with the shipping company. But based on the mold smell that still lingers in some of my clothes, it seems like that odor had been creeping in there for months. Full disclosure: My belongings hung out in their holding warehouse for many more months than originally anticipated. At least double the amount of time. When I first spoke them I asked about climate control...you see over the years I had built a collection of clothes and furniture that I care deeply about and I was assured moisture was not an issue and that it always stayed cool in the warehouse. I'm the idiot for believing it. To make things even worse, I had recently purchased my first adult mattress spending a very pretty penny for my quality of sleep; I even did my first payment plan for this mattress! I was not easy to work with, I admit. I had no idea the length of time it would take me to find a suitable dwelling in Oakland, CA. Each month, I'd pay the storage fee and say "not yet". I just figured it was more money in their pocket. Well, fast forward 8 months, I have my new home (finally, it was extremely difficult to find a place with my dog in the Bay Area) and I am ready to get my belongings. Most importantly my mattress. Oh how I had dreamed of that mattress and was looking so forward to getting to sleep on it again (I had JUST finished paying it off a month before I got my things). I was eagerly anticipating the arrival of everything. The wardrobe boxes arrived with an overwhelming stink of mold. The moldy smell still lingers on some of my clothes almost one year later. But, my heart was broken when the guys from the moving company they worked with unwrapped my mattress. I was assured by Supermovers that it was wrapped air tight. Supermovers placed the blame on the company that did the actual delivery and of course they blamed the storage facility it was in.. The mattress was dark brown, green, ugly shades of blue. It looked that mold had been growing for a long, long time. It was completely beyond repair. Picture frames and my desk had scratches, chips and nicks that were not there before. Lamp shades somewhat damaged requiring repair. But oh that mattress. Forget insurance. Mold is one of the only things not covered by renters/property insurance. Omar finally agreed to send me a check for less than a quarter of what the mattress cost. I still get nauseous thinking about it. So, pay the extra for the climate control if you plan on leaving you stuff there. I would hope that a local move within the same city would go smoother with them. At least for their sake. If you are planning a move your things to another state, I'd stay far away from them.

I hired My Real Move for a local 20mile move within NJ for a single family house. These guys found me on Thumbtack and were very responsive during the booking process and answered all my questions. I had to list my entire inventory manifest, down to boxes and lamps, etc and was charged accordingly based on assumed cubic sq ft required, but in hindsight, felt totally unnecessary as the movers clearly didn't stick to this list and were moving everything in sight, including things we didn't want or expect, and left things behind that were included in the inventory. They showed up 45min late (which was only communicated after the scheduled start time via email) and completed the job in under 6 hours. They were definitely fast, but the entire move process felt chaotic and rushed. My husband and I have a newborn and couldn't keep as close of an eye on the move as we would have liked. Ultimately, while fast, they rushed the job and left boxes in wrong areas of the house (I.e, bedroom boxes were left downstairs, etc) and left a daybed disassembled that we now have to take care of ourselves. We didn't realize any of this until after they had already packed up and left unfortunately. Three stars for the fact that the movers were nice and hard working, and the ease of booking the job. We received a quote prior to booking and you would expect to pay the price quoted, but not with the individuals we worked with today! It was a man with long hair and glasses, when I started the day he states there was no boxes on the list, I understand that if there was a mistake. But if you are a moving company I'm pretty sure you're paid to haul boxes. He stated that he's not taking it, unless I make a deal with him. On the spot he said $200 for 8 boxes and he only takes 20% tip. I was confused how he came up with the number, he did not speak to a higher up or anything. Claimed that we would be on our own if we didn't give him the money + the tip he enforced. He managed to take the money and continued to high five me and attempt to hug me without a mask being on. I knew it was suspicious cause the minute he took the money, he split it with his buddy. No boss or anyone approved of it. I attempted to call the company for Alexandra who gave me the quote, but he got upset and kept deviating my conversations whenever I was on the phone with someone else. I tried talking to the boss, Ved when he dialed him but they spoke themselves without letting me speak. Disgusting behavior from a grown man. Later on at the actual move they attempted to take more money from my girlfriend just for moving it in their truck. I called her to ask why they were demanding $200 from a trip from Jersey City to Hackensack which is a 28 min drive. My girlfriend decided to call her older sister who was helping us with the move. Then she said she would deal with it, and they said they would not reassemble any of the furniture since we were not giving them money. Even though it was guaranteed to be reassembled. There are tons of companies that will take small loads and combine with other small loads to make it worthwhile. I spent a lot of time researching, and I contacted lots of different moving companies. Many of them were desperate for my business, and frankly started harassing me by phone and email. Once I started digging further and reading customer reviews, practically all of them seemed to be horrific. As in the worst reviews I have ever read in my life, warning people to stay away, etc. Turns out that the majority of these moving companies are brokers who subcontract the job out to various other companies. In other words, you have no idea who will actually be picking your stuff up, who will be driving it across the country, who will be delivering, and so on. And so many people warned about their stuff getting lost or damaged and/or taking forever to finally arrive. I was actually about to just give up because I was not willing to take the risk. And thank goodness I found Cross Country Movers. They are a carrier, not a broker, which means that they do everything themselves and do not subcontract out any part of the job. I had a long phone call and multiple emails with Ari before I decided to hire them. He was patient and understanding and did not pressure me at all. Everyone with whom I interacted at this company was so helpful and accommodating. The two men who came to pick up my belongings at my mom's house in CT were wonderful. I received regular updates by text message with tracking info for the truck moving across the country. My stuff arrived safely exactly two weeks after pick up. And the fee was reasonable in my opinion - certainly less than I would have paid to rent a van and drive across country myself. I am extremely grateful to have found Cross Country Movers, and I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone in a similar situation. My mom and my family were so happy, they were crying because it was a goal of my life to study in Harvard University. Because of this awesome news, I needed to move everything I had. I searched in Google, Yelp and mom helped to find the best moving company - Cross Country Movers. Why the best? Because of some things that other companies could not provide me with: 1. Knowledge of customer service. From the first I knew that this company cost a lot because of great customer service. A representative was very nice, professional woman who helped me answered all my questions. She gave me detailed answer for how to book, what to prepare and what to expect. I was satisfied from the beginning. Booking went very well too. A few days later I called her back and left a credit card for deposit and for the future references. 2. The day of actual moving. I could say that I am always late anywhere: business meetings, meetings with my friend. I wasn't expect movers to arrive on time. I would be absolutely fine with me 30 minutes before or after scheduled time. But no, they came at perfect time: 15 minutes to 10 am at the day of moving. They parked their truck, took all equipment and came to my apartment. I was moving from 1 bedroom apartment of 1050 sq feet. It is pretty big and I had so much stuff that I thought 3 movers are not enough. I was wrong. They finished loading within 1.5 hours not including packing. Packing took another hour. The movers were very fast, professional and east going people. I was very nice to work with them. They packed all my fragile stuff with special wrapping and all the boxes were bubbled from the inside and marked which room it belongs. 3. The day of arrival to Boston. The truck came to Boston in 4.5 hours. It's pretty fast according to heavy traffic. The unloading part went even faster. 1 hour and all my belongings were placed to the right rooms and all the furniture and mirrors were unwrapped and placed to the room as well. I would like to say thank you guys for such a hard work you did. I also would like to say thank the company who has these great guys able to work professionally.

In the end there was a cracked box spring, broken dresser drawers, broken dining room table (which they tried to fix I will give them that), broken coat rack, broken mirror, and many chipped pieces of furniture. A pot rack was left behind in the building hallway, half of it disappeared. I would be weary reading some of the other good reviews now as they all sound like the same person wrote them. Also be weary of the certificate of insurance they send, they say none of the damages they caused are covered by insurance. The company was very responsive to us when booking the move, and was immediately was less responsive after the broken furniture. Now they completely ignore all correspondence and have done nothing about the broken things. It looks like they have done the same thing to a few other people as well, broken furniture. Both the building that I left from and the one I moved into have said this is least experienced moving company they have seen. I don't write too many reviews nor do I like to write poor reviews. However, this company didn't make any attempt to ameliorate the problem. We are very reasonable people if they would just return our calls or emails.

How else would anyone else who was on a time crunch act? Just sit back and take the lies? We were all adults here. I booked my move a month in advance, I had a long discussion with the lady on the phone who knew we were moving to Long Island from Brooklyn. She told me it would be an hourly rate for a minimum of 3 hours + travel time, and "end of month fee". The movers turned up at 8.35am for a 9am appointment, they eventually came up to our apt at 9.15am. He surveyed our goods and said "ok no problem, we'll start with the boxes, i'll be right back" THE NEXT THING I GET IS A TEXT CANCELLING OUR MOVE at 9.35am! They claim our building we're uncooperative (UNTRUE ON SO MANY LEVELS) and that we were not packed... our entire apartment was packed and ready when they showed up. I had no discussion with the movers about this, they simply cancelled. Presumably because they couldn't be bothered to move on a Sunday. We had to find a last minute mover on a Sunday in July during COVID. THEY ARE THE WORST! avoid.
