Several of our parents & relatives are interred at Sunset Memorial...my mother & father, my uncle, 2 of my aunts, my cousin as well as my wife's mother & father. Every year as the Christmas holidays approach, we traditionally put decorated artificial wreaths on all of the grave markers...my wife spends a significant amount of time decorating the wreaths to make a nice dignified presentation. You would think, with no winter lawn/property maintenance required, that the grave holiday decorations could remain on the graves for longer than a 2-3 week period before they are removed and discarded! People spend a significant amount of money for the many holiday commemorative markers just to have them automatically removed & discarded after a relatively short period of time! I can understand this for fresh wreaths & greenery which will eventually die and deteriorate anyway but artificial markers will be revitalized and re-used every year. It wouldn't be so bad if the cemetery would post the "cleanup dates" on their website but the only notification given is a sign near the cemetery entrance showing the date the cleanup will begin...for those not living near the cemetery or not visiting very often, they never become aware of the date and, if they arrive too late, arrive to find all of the decorations no longer on the graves but in piles to eventually be discarded. Would it be THAT much of an issue to post the cleanup date on the website for improved awareness or, for that matter, to extend the cleanup date until the end of January to provide a more significant time period to have the graves decorated for the holidays? read more

I have been waiting for almost a year for my mother's grave marker to arrive there is no proactive communication from Everstory staff, they don't follow up on the status of orders, and they certainly don't follow up with clients who have paid thousands of dollars. I don't know if it is laziness, lack of care or disorganization, but I know if a client pays me $6000 and I then order a product with that money, I do everything in my power to ensure the order is received, has an expected date of delivery, and I follow up if things don't happen when they are supposed to. It's not rocket scientist if you know how to look at a calendar.... I am in awe by the lack of concern, and I do not recommend anyone bury someone at Sunset Memorial Park or any other facility owned and operated by Everstory. I'm only sad my father's butial here is prepaid. I read complaints about this place -- that some people have waited for decades for their gravemarkers -- Absolutely unbelievable, criminal if you ask me. when I die, I think I'll just be cremated-- then my loved ones can keep me in a vase on a shelf if they want to ...and not have to deal with this crap! read more

My Uncle purchased a mausoleum in 1992 when my Aunt passed away, and paid a hefty sum, he passed in 2023 and was also interred there. Since the letters on the front of the crypt began to fall off and several calls made by my nephew to repair that have fallen on deaf ears. A year later and nothing has been done. When you lay your loved ones to rest you want them to have dignity, the disrepair of this place makes you regret the choice. Please fix this!!! read more

Andrea Harvey was wonderful in helping my husband pre plan his final resting place arrangements. He was unable to go there in person and she helped him very patiently and thoroughly over the phone and be email. When he recently passed away, I went to the cemetery office to meet her and finalize the arrangements, Andrea was so kind and sweet. She made sure that everything was just as my husband would have liked and made sure that I was totally satisfied and happy with everything. She made sure that i fully understood everything and i couldn't be more grateful to her as she turned a difficult necessity into an easy and comfortable necessity. Our family's experience with Sunset Memorial Park goes back to the Winter of 1967. Dad passed unexpectedly that winter and there would be many more years of frequent visits and funerals shared with friends and loved ones at Sunset. The grounds of Sunset Memorial have always provided comfort to our grieving hearts as we visit the nine departed loved ones interred at the Park. Recently my wife and I were assisted by Marcia Geraci, Family Services Counselor, as we determined to select our own burial sites. Marcia was very helpful and supportive as we discussed our interest and desire to be located near family members. Thankfully we were able to achieve our wish, and we have acquired two plots near relatives. We are grateful for Marcia's professional disposition and support through this acquisition. Marcia went above and beyond expectations to connect us with an out of state person who desired to sell his plots. We appreciated the way Marcia explained the total cost of the graves, vaults and grave openings as well as current fiscal incentives. (While the total cost seemed more than we remembered, we did not compare it with other cemeteries as we wanted to be near relatives). Marcia pointed us to ways we could save money. Marcia was informative but not pushy. When we alerted Marcia that two of the oldest of our family's memorial headstone markers had sunken in, she spoke to the maintenance personnel. The markers were raised the next day. Marcia has offered to meet with us at any time to show us sample memorial headstone markers to help us select words and engravings that will be meaningful to us. Over the years, there have been moments when we were concerned about some of the challenges that the grounds keepers have confronted in keeping flowers, flags or our families thoughtful remembrances placed on head markers. I noticed from previous reviews that Sunset Memorial Park needed a lot of improvements, especially their Mausoleums. Presently they are addressing this. I lost my mother and she is at one of the Mausoleums. I cannot say enough of how I am so impressed with the care and attention we received. Andrea Harvey is excellent in answering questions and providing care when one loses a loved one. She had been away and now back. She is very informative and receptive. My husband and I met with Andrea Harvey for pre-planning at Sunset Memorial Park, when we walked in a little nervous from not knowing the process involved we just knew we didn't want our family members stressing with these decision if and when the time comes. From the first moment she greeted us at the door, she displayed genuine kindness immediately putting us at ease by explaining why the access roads were torn up and the anticipated repair time. All we can say is that she is absolutely wonderful to work with, she explained every step of the process of pre-planning and what was actually involved, more than we thought. Andrea provided exceptional service by attentively listening to our multiple questions and concerns, responding with patience and even resolving issues efficiently with our stone color selection as we wanted to match other family members at the cemetery we would eventually be near. If you care about your loved ones, don't bury them here. If the burial plots are already purchased, for God's sake don't use Kirk & Nice as the funeral home. This is both a review of Sunset Memorial Park and its attached funeral home Kirk & Nice. Most of our negative experience came via the funeral home, however both of these are part of a much larger organization, Stonemor Inc. You can read about them in the last paragraph. A person might reasonably assume a higher level of service when utilizing the funeral home attached to the cemetery. Sadly that is not the case in our experience. The entire process was awkward and difficult, and our family was completely unsatisfied with the service. Before you consider burying your loved ones here take a close look at the property. The Pennsylvania Turnpike is in the background. The grounds are poorly maintained and the asphalt paved paths are falling apart. They appear to be undergoing some expansion with giant masses of tree roots ripped out of the ground and piled up. The condition of the turf is awful. Look at the other reviews posted online for tales of neglect. On the day we made funeral arrangements, we met with "Travis" who was identified as the "Acting Director". This should have been a warning sign that we failed to heed. It's one thing to get a trainee waitress or trainee cashier, your expectations and exposure are low. I got the impression we were test customers. The initial arrangements went by uneventfully, although the person from Sunset Memorial was far more professional in appearance and behavior. On the day of the funeral, Kirk and Nice show up with a very nice hearse and what appeared to be a white Chevy work van. I was told this was the "flower car". While standing in front of the church, I observe Travis and two workers struggle to transfer the casket from the hearse to the trolley, almost dropping it onto the bumper of the hearse. I would have been honored to assist if only they had asked. The worst was yet to come. Before services began, in plain sight with no attempt to be discreet, Travis was shaking my mother down for payment for the service. In. The. Middle. Of The Church Lobby. As guests were walking by. Unbelievable. Four days had passed since the arrangements were made and *this* was the time he chose to seek payment. I could hardly believe my eyes and ears. I was later told he failed to get the credit card expiration date and had to call back later that day. Unbelievable ! Other guests commented about how disorganized everything seemed. At the burial site we were greeted by a flimsy pile of boards around the burial excavation covered with astroturf. As a pallbearer I worried for my safety. Two groundskeepers (who were dressed like groundskeepers !) had to guide the pallbearers lowering the casket. Why weren't the funeral house staff doing that ? Good question. The burial was mercifully quick. THE FINAL INSULT: The burial site did not have a marker prior. The burial plaque was placed WITH THE WRONG DATES. It had my very much alive mother passing in 2019 (i.e. 1943-2019) and my father's wrong. What incompetence. What complete inattention to detail. Investment information. What does that tell you ? When I challenged Travis on his behavior, his response was "That could have been handled better". I raised hell with multiple levels at the company. Many phone calls were needed before any meaningful response. Sent email to the "wecare" email address. Received the usual platitudes about how important we are and how seriously they take the issues. I cannot believe the tasteless and tacky methods that Sunset Memorial Park has used to try to sell plots! I received a phone call at my family's home from a woman called Sloan, who claimed that I own a plot there. She said that she wanted to find out if I was still interested in my plot, and she left her number. When I called back I was first put on hold for 25 minutes. After 2 additional calls to them, the receptionist and manager in charge finally admitted that Sloan was responsible for community outreach and updating files, and that I don't actually own a plot there. In other words, the whole thing was a sleazy sales pitch. Shame on you, Sunset Memorial! read more

I went to visit my grandfather in the Chapel of Memories and had a hard time finding him because there are letters missing on the marble covering his ashes. I walked through the chapel and was appalled by the state of neglect and general disrespect for peoples loved ones. As you can see in the photos attached there are literally hundreds of plots that are missing letters. And the epoxy is goopy and in some cases tape is holding things together. This is appalling and the capitalist whores who own the cemetery should be forced to bury their loved ones in these conditions and see how horrible the feeling is to discover such neglect. read more

Mother in law passed Nov. 2016- we requested she be buried with her mother who has passed several years earlier and had a site at Sunset. Not a problem they said. Service was fine because we had our checkbook open. 1. noticed they never put the ending date on grandmom's memorial. 2. Ordered mother in laws memorial in June. Paid in full ($3,200) Andrea told us she would take care of everything and that it would be 6-8 weeks for arrival. I called in August to check on things- no memorial yet. Called in September-Andrea told me marble company has lost their engraver and just hired a new person and that she was behind in orders. It would be about another 2 weeks. Received a call 1st week of October by Debra, the sales manager- the memorial had never been ordered until the end of September! Funny- they wouldn't do anything until we paid in full- after they got their money- they don't care what happens. Debra called last week and informed me the memorial was being delivered last Friday and that she assured me she'd "keep me informed the entire time until the memorial is ready to be placed in the ground" It's now the following Thursday and still no word. Called and Debra's always in meetings? Do no trust these people. They take full advantage of families when they're mourning and they will be reported to the BBB. read more

My experience with this business has been a NIGHTMARE. My Uncle pre-paid for his needs. Due to drama in his family he is unable to go next to his wife. The memorial park owes us a refund of his money so we can finally lay him to rest. After submitting all needed paperwork, to date, leaving 8 messages, they still have not returned my calls. Imagine having a loved one pass away in August and November 18th he still hasn't been laid to rest. The emotional stress is so unnecessary!!!....Please buyer beware is so very much needed here. Isn't it a disgrace how a business that is supposed to make your time of need easier to bear, is handling a human body with so little care or concern? Lets personalize this some more....You pass away August 24....and November 18th your family still hasn't had any closure and you still are not in your final place. His spirit has not been given the peace it so deserves, neither has his family!!!! read more

Awful. My father, a veteran, passed away in 2014. He is buried with my mother who passed in 2003. Before his death, he complained many times when visiting her grave that the joint stone they had purchased was sunk and cracked in half. He died never seeing it fixed. After his burial, which was a nightmare due to the former owners, I asked the new owners for it to be fixed when they put his death date on. I went back every few months and nothing was happening. After a 3rd meeting with a supervisor and a year and a half of no death date on my father's tombstone and no repairs, I got an eye roll and a curt response of how busy they are. So, after more than two years of nothing, I finally receive a phone call that it has been fixed and the death date is finally on the stone. We'll see....I visit this weekend. The graves surrounding are usually grown over with grass and filthy. I'll resubmit another more favorable review if it's better. I'm not holding my breath. My parents pre-paid for these two plots and if I could move them I would. I cried every time I visited, not only because I missed them, but also because their graves were left in shambles. How awful to be treated like that when you are grieving, and for two years straight they called and left me messages about buying my own plot. All about the money. read more
