Giving this place one star is WAY too much! But for the sake of posting my review I had to give at least one star. My parents are both buried at Sunset and we have friends there as well. So, we have been associated with Sunset since 1987. A very long time. In the early 90's the Garden of Religion area was a charming section of the cemetery. It was known for the art work that flank both sides of the center walkway. And the gorgeous shrubs that were once meticulously groomed. Also, flowers adorned both entrances to the Garden of Religion. And let's not forget about the charming water fountain which was in the very center of the Garden of Religion located near the niches. Flashforward to present day November 2020....smfh The place looks absolutely horrendous! No flowers, the shrubs are ripped to shreds because they don't have any respect and in spots the shrubs are literally ripped out in sections. It looks horrible. They removed the water fountain YEARS ago and was "promised" they were only "fixing" it and the fountain will soon be replaced. What a joke! They sell a bill of goods and never have any follow thru. The sidewalk in front of the niches is falling apart and completely a tripping hazard! I'll include pics. The only thing that sticks out in my mind was when Dostal had us in the day we were deciding on burial arrangements and I recall the guy that was speaking with us had zero tact or compassion and was more concerned with telling us how hot the ovens are for cremation. Wth? And the cost for their dinky vase which is super glued to the face of the stone. It's fallen off so many times we have lost count! Avoid this place at all costs! At least do your homework and check around. There are SO many other beautiful and well-taken care of cemeteries in the area. read more

I met with Rebecca Leiter last Friday (10/27/17) to pre-plan my funeral. Rebecca was so kind and so professional. She really impressed me with her knowledge about the whole process and provided excellent customer service. I felt like I had known her for all my life just like I was a personal friend while just meeting her for the first time. She went through the entire process of pricing for each item and explained each item. And she wasn't upset to go through it again when I thought through everything and decided that I didn't want some items. So she revised the whole document according to my preferences like it was nothing. I felt that I could speak to her about anything. Her courteous manner and wonderful consideration of my wishes meant so much to me. Her upbeat personality just beamed throughout the entire hour. She informed me that my family could call on her or anyone at Sunset Memorial 24/7 and I will pass that along to my children. I wanted to make the process of my passing as easy as possible for my family and I know that the staff there will do just that. She is an outstanding employee and should be recognized as such. I really enjoyed meeting your wonderful employees and felt that I had done the right thing by planning my funeral at Sunset Memorial. This is the second excellent employee that I have met from your organization!!!! read more

This past weekend we came back to Cleveland for my 50 year class reunion. Sunday on our way back to the airport I suggested to my wife that we stop by Sunset where both of my parents are laid to rest and her brother is buried. It had been years since we visited. From the moment we drove into the grounds we were struck by the incredible beauty of the park. The attention to detail was amazing - from the flowers at the front gate to the perfectly trimmed hedges and plantings. The grass was lush and green and every tree and garden was freshly mulched. As we had not been to the cemetery in a long time I had anticipated having a hard time finding my parents markers and we were quite pleased to find the office staffed even on Sunday. Not only did the person who helped us (Mark) look up mom and dad's location but he actually took us personally to the graves on a golf cart. It was obvious that the markers in the section had been cleaned off recently but Mark got down on his knees with a little whisk broom and carefully brushed off the bronze. After some time of quiet reflection we left Sunset Memorial with a peace in our hearts that my mom and dad and my wife's brother were in good hands. In fact my wife and I are wondering why we bought our plots in Hilton Head rather than coming back home to Sunset. read more

I purchased crypts in the main mausoleum in 1999 and visited March, 2015 to plan my funeral arrangements. Their representative, Bob, was professional, personable, and thorough in answering my questions and introducing me to the funeral director, Nick, who was equally professional. I was given a planner to complete independently which asks ALL the conceivable questions about my funeral. This saves family members from having to guess as to what I would want at a time when they are grieving. It is a great way to plan a funeral and it is quite simple to complete. Sunset Memorial can best be described as "world class". There is no finer cemetery in Northeast Ohio and their employees are also outstanding. I highly recommend this company to anyone looking for their final resting place and encourage them to pre-plan their funeral to relieve loved ones of having to do it for them. They will also meet with a family member I designate as the primary contact well in advance of my death to go over all of the arrangements I selected. All that my family member has to do at the time my death is to make a phone call and Sunset Memorial carries out my plan. How could it be any easier? read more

I've been meaning for some time to put in a plug someone that went out of his way to do a huge favor for me. That guy is Tim Werling, a Family Service Advisor at Sunset Memorial Park. I found myself in a position of having to make arrangements in a hurry about a year and a half ago. Afterwards, when things had settled down, I realized that I was experiencing some emotional turmoil as a result of one of those rushed decisions. During a particularly rough moment I bumped into Tim. He stepped in and made himself available at no compensation to himself. He helped me set things right. He's a really good, down to earth guy. He's able to take one of the least fun things to do - making your final earthly arrangements, and make it as comfortable as it can possibly be. My husband and I were considering buying our cemetary plots now, so our children would not have to make those decisions at the time of our death. We met Debra Beckman and she was an incredible help to us. She took us on a tour and showed us many different options. Although we aren't certain if we truly will be buried or cremated, she explained how we would be able to make that determination at a later date, but purchase our plots now. Debra answered every question we had and offered great advice. There was no pressure for us to make the decision, but with Debra's help and knowledge, we chose a gorgeous location near the river. It's been a great pleasure working with Tina Marini, and thanks for having such a good sense of humor at a time when it was really needed. Life is tough enough, but there's nothing tougher than securing your own final resting place when the time approaches. Tina understood my needs, and worked hard to provide me with a reasonably priced package. While everyone might enjoy having riverfront property, being buried inside your own boulder, or even hanging out by the Bird Cage, Tina took the time to explain all of the options that were available at Sunset Memorial Park. I spoke to Natalie Berchin ( not sure of the spelling ) and she was so friendly and helpful that I just had to write and tell you what an asset she is to your office staff. Being residents of North Olmsted for over forty years, we knew we wanted our final resting place to be at Sunset Memorial Park. Through the years we have had two prior occasions to attend funerals there. We thought it was a beautiful cemetery. Wanting to preplan our own funerals was a priority for my husband and me. Two weeks ago we met with Sandra Basch a very knowledgeable, creative and patient advisor there. She spent four hours driving us through the park, answering questions, making suggestions that helped us to eventually make our decisions. Because of Sue's unsurpassed commitment, dedication, compassion and empathy for people, Sue helped us make one of the most difficult yet important decision of our lives, our end of life arrangements at Sunset Memorial Park. On Thursday I attended a wake in the mausoleum. What a beautiful building with the high ceilings and amazing stained glass back drop of the last supper. I have to say that the people that work for Sunset were helpful and caring. They went out of their way to make sure that our families needs we're met above and beyond what we expected. This is an emotional and extremely sad time for our family and the staff especially Rebecca helped to put our mind at ease with the way she handled everything. From the mausoleum to the church to the grave side service everything added up equaled a perfect send off for our beloved Jim who deserved nothing but the best and that is what he received. Our first experience was at Sunset a little over 3 years ago when we as very young parents had to lay our baby girl to rest. We were so blessed to have worked with Jill Serano who so delicately walked us through the most difficult time. She showed compassion beyond all others and help us to make this most special decision. Jill has become like family to us and is always available to help out in any way. She even helped to procure locations for my in-laws and my parents that are near our little angel.
