1/2 way stop for us on the drive back from Flagstaff. Always very clean and a great spot to stop and stretch your legs.

Wow! I wish we had more rest areas like this one in Texas. My husband and I were driving back to Phoenix from Sedona and decided to take a quick stop at Sunset Point Rest Area. This is a pretty large rest area with plenty of parking spots for cars and RVs. They have an amazing view of a mountain in the back which makes it a pretty nice place to stop by and admire the view. They also have plenty of picnic tables to grab a snack. The bathrooms were in great condition and really clean. I also like that they had a pet waste station and plenty of grass to walk your dogs. One thing that really caught my attention was that the whole area was wheelchair friendly and there were multiple ramps that made all points of the rest area very wheelchair accessible. Overall this is a five-star rest area and worth checking out during your next roadtrip!

This is a great experience You will not be disappointed. I was recently there over the weekend, my second time visiting. I was impressed all over again. If you want to see the sunset, this is a must visit location. I recommend looking up sunset time the same day you decide to go so that you arrive on time.

Off I 17 south between Prescott Valley and Phoenix is this rest area. I love the view. Take the time to stop smell the ... cacti?

I've made 72 laps around Old Sol, our sun. As promised by vague notes and friend comments 40 years ago, men have prostate/bladder discomfort as they gain life's wisdoms. Women have their own varieties of UT issues over time. Laugh teen drivers laugh. Karma is hiding behind Arizona's shrubs and boulders. Even if we think taxes is a dirty word, even if we want government completely out of our Sovereign Citizen lives, we travelers will thank the State of Arizona and the FeFederal Highways block grant program for gifting we tired, nervously dancing drivers and our dogs for the Sunset Point Rest Area. They have snacks!

This was a beautiful spot to take in some sights of the beautiful sunrise. You can walk around, get some stretching in. They have bathroom available and it was clean. Love!

Anytime we head up north we usually stop on our way. Our last stop was on our way to the Grand Canyon. This was my daughter's boyfriend's first time stopping here and he was awestruck and was very impressed with the view - which was vast and beautiful. The bathrooms have always been clean and do not smell. There are various informational posters. It's a huge place - great for picnicking and walking the pups around. There is a beautiful sundial in the center (lower area) honoring construction workers who've lost their lives working on the highway and it is handicap accessible. If you happen to stop during sunset, it will not disappoint.

Iconic rest stop on the I-17. It's always busy, and you'll usually find a food/vending truck and maybe a stray musician or so hanging around. The view is beautiful, especially at sunset, which is why it's called Sunset Point. The bathrooms are clean, there are several look out points, and ample parking. My only woe was the height of the stall doors in the restrooms. I was a full head or 2 taller than the stall doors and could easily see over. Be wary.

Beautiful and clean rest area! View of Arizona Valleys is spectacular! Restrooms are clean. They have cash or credit vending machines and walking paths with picnic areas!

Heading to Flagstaff to visit my brother when I stopped to use the restroom. It was a busy rest stop, but bathrooms were clean. When I got back to my car I noticed I had a flat tire. I was traveling along and don't know the first thing when it comes to changing to a spare tire. I asked 3 guys who were nearby to assist, and they declined. The next guy I asked seemed to be on a break, but he kindly assisted me and had me pull over to a different part of the rest stop to use his big jack to get the job done quicker. I didn't catch his name, but I hope he knows how appreciated he is! He lives on site and has worked the rest stop for about 6 years. He got my spare on, made sure it had air, and got me on my way to the tire shop. Forever thankful for kind strangers!

This place seems to be my regular place to take a break on the way to Northern Arizona. Restroom is clean enough to use. They have picnic tables and we normally eat picnic lunch here. View is always nice and it is lovely to walk around to stretch your legs. Plenty of parking available and great cell signals.

I stopped here over night in August 2022. I had been driving all day from Moriarty NM mostly in the rain. It got to a point where driving was nearly impossible. Just when I decided to pull over I saw the sign about a roadside rest in nine miles. I inched my way there. I found Sunset Point to be large, clean and well maintained. I felt the vending machines were too expensive so I didn't use them. They had the best toilet paper of all the rest areas I've visited on this trip. Worth a stop for road weary travelers.

    9/13/22 Nice views here

9/13/22: This is one of the nicer rest stops I've been to. Most rest stops are just toilets. This one has gorgeous views & photo ops! I honestly can't even remember the bathrooms. I think they were fairly decent, if memory serves me correctly. This was one of our nicer bathroom breaks en route from CA to TX.

I'm not sure why Congress, AZ is attached to this. It's 81 miles away and on a different highway. Sunset Point is a very nice rest stop.

Wasn't defiled by graffiti artists or anything. Seemed to be well stocked with toilet seat covers and toilet paper. There was a sign warning about critters and even poisonous critters in the vicinity. Also, a rather large parking area for both cars and semi-trucks or trucks with campers, etc. towed behind them. If you're driving and get tired, please pull in and rest for a bit, that's why it is called a rest stop, right? It was better than expected, rather busy, and very safe. Definitely a decent place to stop and use the facilities.

It's near mile marker 87, about 64 miles west of Phoenix, AZ and 68 miles east of Quartzsite, AZ. The rest area has clean restroom facilities, plenty of parking for vehicles of different sizes (from motorcycles to 18-wheelers), several picnic areas, dog walking area, snack machines behind heavy metal bars, and a water spigot. There are some fun informational signs about topics unique to Arizona --(1) rattlesnakes, Gila monsters, and scorpions. (2) state parks, attractions. (3) fun facts about cacti. (4) and my favorite, the 5 Cs of Arizona: cattle, citrus, climate, copper, and cotton. My understanding is that Arizona allows motorists to stay here overnight, and restrooms are open 24/7; however, it's likely to be very noisy given its proximity to the freeway and the high volume of trucks and traffic coming into the rest area.

We weren't originally planning on visiting Navajo Blue Travel Plaza, but after seeing bottles of…read moreNavajo Fizz soda at some shops around the Navajo Nation, we saw the main bottling location was at Navajo Blue! Of course we had to give it a visit on our way out of Flagstaff. Blue Corn Mush ($5) - This is pretty smooth, blended well similar to fine grits in texture. The flavor is totally different with a slight bitterness and a ton of corn flavor that's quite a bit different from typical sweetcorn. There's a certain savory quality that I wouldn't quite call smoky, I wonder if it's from the juniper ash? The mush isn't seasoned at all, so just the light natural flavors shine. Navajo Fizz 12oz Bottle ($2.49 each or 4 for $9.69) - We tried four of the flavors Pinon Root Beer - This has a rather medicinal root flavor, although different from typical root beer. There's a harsher root flavor that goes up the nose. It has a pretty pleasing sweetness level from cane sugar; I'm surprise they manage to get it so sweet with only 15g listed in the ingredients (to be honest, I think the label is lying given that the other sodas have way more sugar). There's a good light fizzy level, a gentle fizz, not harsh. I wouldn't say that the drink is a very strong pine nutty in flavor. It is a rather unique root beer flavor; I don't normally like root beer, but I really enjoyed this one. Greenthread Tea - Hmm not sure I like this one too much. It tastes kind of like those lemon honey flavored cough drops with a slight earthy flavor that comes later. I'd love to get some greenthread by itself to try out what it actually tastes like. Edit: A couple of days later I picked up some greenthread tea from a flea market vendor. It tastes kind of like chamomile with a hint of mint, so not really this soda flavor profile. Sumac Berries Strawberry - Woah, this one is really good. It actually tastes like fresh strawberry, with all the complex aromas and flavors, not the flat artificial strawberry taste. I'm really impressed with it. It's the best strawberry soda I've ever had. I'm not really sure what sumac berries taste like though! Peaches & Cream - Another amazing soda, this time a fresh peach juice flavor with cream added. It's like drinking carbonated peach juice. I normally don't like grape flavored soda since it usually tastes so artificial, but considering how good the fruit sodas are here, I regret not buying that flavor as well. Heck, I should have bought a ton more soda of every variety to tide us over the next 2 weeks of our trip! It's really some excellent soda. Unfortunately, none of the other shops in the Navajo Nation I visited afterwards stocked Navajo Fizz! The travel plaza also sells all sort of Navajo cuisine staples. Stuff like roasted blue/yellow/white cornmeal, juniper ash, greenthread tea, steam corn, frybread mix, etc. As we found out later, it's actually cheaper here than many of the Bashas' Dine' grocery stores in the Navajo Nation. Navajo Blue Travel Plaza has instantly become a must stop destination anytime I'm in the area again. The sodas are just so good, and the Navajo food they sell seems to be pretty great as well!
