We purchased a new rv here just this week and very happy with the customer service. Our salesman, Darin, was the best. Polite, friendly, and made the overall experience better. It's always scary making such a big purchase and we were happy to work with such a nice salesman. We were on a time crunch and He even helped to get us in with the finance office faster. Bought a new RV from Sunset. Wouldn't buy or recommend anyone to Sunset again. After initial purchase we have had nothing but delays after delays after delays. With them doing the 'prep' work to get the RV ready for delivery it took them TWO MONTHS. And this was on a brand new $100,000+ RV. We were constantly calling the dealer asking for status. Not once have they called us to give us an update. We purchased the RV in March and it is now mid-July and several things are STILL not fixed that we identified during our walk through. More on this in my review for the service center. Since the service center isn't available to post a review on them here is our review. Sunset RV service in Buckley, WA. BAD - AVOID. We have had our RV in for warranty service several times. They seem to fix the items they want to fix (read - easy to fix). We still have issues with our RV we purchased in May that we noted in our pre-delivery. Some items needed parts. I finally got tired of no answers from the service area or them telling me they were still waiting on parts. I called the factory and they informed me all the parts had been shipped UPS and several parts were delivered back in June (a month ago). Will be calling the service center later this morning. This is totally unacceptable for a business. They have your money and don't seem to care anymore. My recommendation - look someplace else for your RV. Wish I could give 0 stars. read more

Sunset RV in Bonney lake WA_ we walked into this business to find a new travel trailer for our family. I don't remember the salemans name; but he wasn't pushy at all. he gave us alone time to decide which trailer we liked best. then we went inside to do paperwork. that's when I started to frown; paperwork is paperwork..ok. but then we were informed it would be over another week before we could take the trailer into possession; they needed to "prep it". okkk..... we called and scheduled a few days further out because we wanted our children to be able to be with us to pick up the new trailer; since they were the ones that decided they liked it the best. we got there that designated Saturday and began our necessary swap over of all the stuff we had left from our old trailer we were trading in to the new one. everyone worked hard and we had it all done in about an hour or so. I also made sure we had all the needed necessities for camping; like a water hose- nope..take from the old trailer; a sewer hose- nope...take that from the old trailer; get my drift?! I walked back in at the end while one of the workers disconnected there electrical from the trailer. and I went to hand over the title and keys to the old trailer. I informed them that the new one don't even have XYZ. the said "oh, you didn't get a starter package". I did mumble to them that for the price I am paying I would THINK the trailer already comes with these few items. so then I went back to the trailer. got it hooked up with the helper. then that was IT. they were gone..i expected them to continue to HELP me for that first time make sure I had everything secured and closed and ready to go. NOPE. I had to walk around like 3xs making sure everything was closed, locked and shut down correctly. they had done NOTHING; o.k that is my responsibility; but for good customer service; you would think the business would designate someone to stay with the customer tell the minute they are ready to drive out; I could see several of them down at the beginning of the lot by the office just blabbing away waiting for us to leave. I was not impressed at all. we finally took off after confirming we had everything shut, locked and secured. we got home and I did yet another walk around at where we stopped tell I could go make arrangements with our storage for a bigger spot to store our new trailer; and I noticed immediately that the landing foot that goes to the front jack was MISSING. what the heck- now we did take pictures of us being proud owners of this new trailer when we were still at the rv lot in boney lake but our picture don't include the very beginning where the jack is to see if the foot was there to begin with. I emailed the dealership about it; there reply of course was to sluff it off that "they wouldn't have messed with it" - of course not! because they don't check to make sure its secure when putting the trailer on the truck; not to mention anything else they didn't check to help us with when we were trying to get the trailer ready to leave. the next day we took the trailer down to the storage; and began placing more stuff where we would want it; we discovered that there "PDI" (Pre delivery inspection) is a complete JOKE. I can list pages and pages of stuff that I discovered. I still tell this day have a list. but to sum it up. the place was NOT even vacuumed out and the water lines were not even checked for tightness. thank the Lord I now how to do a precheck on my trailer when you first start using it. otherwise I would have had a horrible mess and water damage right from first use. we were also told by the dealer that the trailer we got had a black tank flush; "oh yea. its right there on the control panel with your sensor readings"- sure there was a button next to the ones for checking levels of the fresh tank, grey tank 1&2; black tank, and battery. there was one called "wash"- o.k without taking time to experiment; we assumed; press it and it would wash out the black tank.; we got to our first campsite and I did more checking and wanting to use this feature. OH NO..its not a flush at all. its just another sensor reader like the others. so once again; we emailed and called the dealership regarding this. we only halfway even got a remote response from them. something to do with that we have a control panel that is used on even the bigger 5th wheels that have a washer and dryer in them and that button is used on those models to I guess check the level of the wash-ing machine tank level. OMG.!! so I have one button on my panel that says "wash" that don't do crap. and I have this expensive travel trailer that DONT even have a black tank flush. I don't now what else to say about this business besides my main feeling is that they will be all nice and "help" you out. tell they have your signature and money. then you are garbage to them; take care of it yourself. good luck hearing anything from them. At first I was skeptical in buying from Sunset but after the experience was over, I was happy we did! Excellent service, very helpful, and Crystal was awesome! We went to the Tacoma Dome RV show Saturday evening 1/20/18. I was a returning customer to Sunset RV and potentially a 5th wheel toy hauler. We spoke to the financial guy and wanted a ballpark figure of a monthly payment without running credit so we could discuss our decision overnight. He came ba k in and told me that I had to put 10% down, 4500. I told him I wanted to put 0 down, as I had put 0 down on my current trailer. He told me that no bank would look at it if I didn't have 10% down. I decided to walk away since I knew this was not true. It's preferred but not always the case. As we were walking out the financial guy said "If you win the lottery come back and see us". He insinuated that I couldn't afford the 4500 down payment. This was a disgusting insult and to think I was a returning customer to this type of behavior. read more

*** STAY AWAY from this dealer *** We purchased a large/expensive motorhome and then found out it had never been inspected, cleaned or even had its very full waste tanks dumped from the previous owner. After 5+ weeks of unanswered phone calls, they finally released it to us with very few items poorly repaired, in absolutely filthy condition (after we were told it had been detailed) and items inside the coach were now missing. There was even new body & wheel damage that occurred when THEY moved it off their sales lot to take it to their service shop which is 20+ miles away. They released it to us with the front end so out of alignment that it would make a 90 degree turn all on its own. On the rare occasion that we were able to speak to someone about our purchase, they were quite unconcerned and uncaring. I realize we bought a used vehicle "as-is", but I also thought we were dealing with a "reputable dealer" that would stand behind the product that they sold to us after specifically saying that everything worked properly. THE WORST service I have ever received. Made an appointment for my older RV, took it in before my scheduled date( I called first). Told them when I needed it by, gave them more than two weeks. They never looked at it until I called and inquired. They put in a new water pump but claimed they needed more time to find and fix a water leak. They charged me for looking at my motorhome and said they would give me a price break on service if I could bring it back.....I had another source look at my problem and they diagnosed it and fixed it in less than two hours. Several years ago, we took our Motorhome (ACE) to them for work that was supposed to take a few days. My sister had just been diagnosed with breast cancer, and I had a lot on my mind. I didn't think about cleaning out the ACE, after all, it was only gonna be a few days. 6 months later, we still didn't have our unit, I had gone and come back for 6 weeks care of my sister. Finally, we got our unit back (we had purchased it new from them by the way). The unit ended up having a structural failure from the factory, and they put our Ace at the bottom of the list for repair. When we finally got it back, and I was going through and cleaning it (bathroom sink was cracked, and they had to repair, among many other "wrongs" with this unit) I realized my jewelry box was in the unit...sadly stripped clean. My mother's ring, my ring my jeweler brother (who has since passed). made for me...my anniversary bracelet, my pearl earrings when my baby girl was born, my only diamond earrings when my son was born. Honestly, it was a few months from getting it back before I even went in to clean it (still reeling from sister's issue) and was dealing with deep depression. DO NOT PUT ANYTHING WITH THEM. Rude, management changed multiple times during when they had our unit, lies, and then major theft. They fixed it, supposedly, and then they didn't do what they said they were doing (put the exhaust right out on the passenger side, so it went into our sitting area if running....on and on.) I have finally mustered up the energy to put this out there....will always ache for my stolen items. read more

Where to start?... try getting hold of someone when you're have a problem right after you bought the motorhome; and don't hold your breath waiting to hear from them when they promised. We brought our motorhome in at least 5 times right after we bought it; the promised work wasn't done and they still couldn't get it right--that was a 45 mile trip--good practice driving! Finally the motorhome manufacturer told us to forget them and paid for us to have it brought to their repair facility in Oregon. When we were in the shop there were other customers with angry complaints as well. This business gives all of 'em a bad name. read more

Absolutely horrible service department. Bought a new toy hauler in 2015 and have been back multiple times to fix the same issues. The latest one is my fresh water tanks do not work properly which results in only half the water being available. We had the same problem a year and a half ago (which is the last time we dry camped and used the tanks) and took it in for repair. It took them weeks to get to it and when they finally did they called and said we found a kinked hose and now it's all good. Well first time I used my tanks and guess what. SAME PROBLEM!! When I called them today they asked me- well did you really not use your trailer for a year? Also you never checked to see if it was fixed after we returned it?? Well let's see... they told me they fixed it. Guess not. Then blamed me for not checking their work. So now they are telling me even though I bought a 7 year extended warranty I'll need to pay for them to fix it because they only guarantee their work for 90 days. WHAT A JOKE. 70 thousand dollars on crap that doesn't work and you will not fix!!! STAY AWAY. DO NOT GO TO SUNSET. THEY WILL NOT MAKE IT RIGHT FOR ANYONE!! read more

Went down to look at RV's on a Saturday. They didn't have a unit with a slide in my price but had some coaches at good prices. The salesman Chris was not high pressure at all. He said they get units in all the time and he would call me if they get something in. So I left. I continued to look all over craigslist and other lots and was disappointed with the selection and prices. Nothing I hate worse then driving far to look at something and it is way different then the ad. So about two weeks went buy and Chris called me and said they just took something in I would like that looks new with low miles. So I drove up there to look at it and it was great. Exactly as described and very low miles. We worked out a great price thanks to the manager John. I would definitely recommend Chris and John to anyone. read more

Terrible experience with trying to purchase a 5th wheel from Sunset RV. Sales man was very helpful and nice and went out of his way to get things done. Drove 3.5 hours to go see a 5th wheel and it wasn't at the said location. It was at a fair being camped in. Looked passed that awkwardness and went to purchase anyway. Manager was very "salesman" like and gave me some bad feelings. Worst experience was with the finance manager. Would not give warranty options, insulted credit worthiness, and didn't seem knowledgeable in necessary documents needed to go through with purchase even though he claimed to be in this business for many years. Ended up getting approved for a loan and they delivered 5th wheel after much debate over fees and charges that were added after deal. Slide out had a problem and they assured us it would be fixed before delivery. Showed up NOT fixed and they left it anyways. Upon further inspection of the 5th wheel we found that one of the slide outs in the 2005 Keystone Everest was completely rotted out in the wall and floor and there was no way to walk on it. I asked them to refund my deposit and come take their RV. It took them 2 weeks to return $5000. This dealership assured us there was no water damage, brought us up there when the 5th wheel wasn't ready to be shown treated us like children and assumed we knew nothing about anything. Overall experience was terrible and I would never recommend anyone go to Sunset RV. read more

Bad Bad Bad Long story short I consigned my diesel motor home with Sunset in Fife. It sat on there lot for 120 days without any contact from them. When I tried to contact them I could not get a hold of the manager I consigned it with. I had a couple friends inquire about the coach over the phone and both times the salesman on the phone tried to sell them a different motor home. Also the coach was neglected while it was on there lot. clearly not washed and damage to the inside and of course they aren't responsible for it. read more

We bought a motorhome from sunset rv in bonneylake in aug 2014 and got 20 mi's from there dealership and the new motorhome lost power and oil lite come on and the lower hose blew off the radidtor causing the engine to fail, the engine blown up after we just paid 65,800 for this motorhome, we called sunset rv and they said have it towed to auburn chevy in auburn wa. we did just that and the dealer in auburn said the motor was no good and it overheated due to the lower hose comming off the rad so we called vic at the sunset rv and told him about this and asked what they were going to do to take care of this and, now we can not get them to come to the phone or to call us back about this matter, so you can guess we are getting upset and wondering why they will not talk to me about this, i also have made calls to phil the owner of sunset chevy and he wont call me or ansure my calls, im asking that sunset provide me with a new engine and install and the money it has cost me in towing bills and to stop taking money for a product that they know has problems because at 22000 mi it cant take out a engine. if i dont hear from then within 10 days we will file a suit in court for dammages in excess of the 12,000 dollors we are seaking now for engine and install and towing bills allreddy paid for by me. hope you will take care of this vic or phill at sunset chevy & sunset rv walt read more

My husband and had just started looking for a newer diesel motorhome with a slide out for more room antispating our retirement. We happen to see one on line at Sunset RV in Fife that we thought might work and went to look. They happen to be having a special show In South Hill Puyallup and had taken it up there. So off we went to have a look. We were told to speak to Jim but he was busy when we got there but were told where the unit was and went to have a look while waiting for Jim. He never showed but Clay (another salesman) did come up to check on us. We talked to him quite a bit and decided to go ahead and make an offer with trading in our old one. We finally came to a good but not great deal with all satisfied. We got initial papers signed and off we went with a list of things to be done and about a week before we could pick it up and drop off the trade in. It turned into 2 weeks waiting and being it took so long we went to Fife and got all the final paperwork done. Not very impressed with the Fife group at all and it is the main lot where all financing goes through. We finally got a call about the walk through and pick up and it was late on a Friday. All the work was done at the Buckly workshop. So when they called with the time I made a comment that it was not a great time to have to Coe up to Boney lake for it but we would make it work. So off we go in the old motorhome to drop it off and pick up the new one. As we were driving to the lot I told my husband I was sure it was our new unit headed the opposite direction... And sure enough by the time I got a hold of Clay the sales man it was and it was headed for Fife! Why I do not know as we had all the paperwork complete and didn't need to go back to Fife. But we turned around and headed down there. When we arrived we had to wait, why I don't know, but our time was supposed to be 5 and it was now about 5:45 to 6:00 and they were getting ready to home. Finally we started the walk through when it started pouring. The inside was fine and Chris who was doing the walk through got us big umbrellas for the outside part. Chris was very good and thorough for the most part. He did miss a couple of things but it was getting very late. They ended up looking up including out old motorhome and almost left Chris stranded there and he needed to get back to Buckly. Thankfully they forgot to lock the drivers door on our old unit so Chris took it back up to Buckley and we were able to get our few things out of it as well that we had left until done. The one item they didn't do was fix the engine air conditioning so we had to take it back to the Buckley shop and get that done. That was another weeks worth. All in all it was not the best service but not the worse. Clay, the salesman, was great, Chris, the tech, was good, Mark, the finance guy, was ok but a typical finance man. I have started to write this review so many different times over the past month but as soon as I start to put how awful my experience was with Sunset RV and Sunset Chevrolet into words, I start to get frustrated, angry and hurt all over again. My only hope now is to help anyone avoid what we went through. April 30th, 2013 my husband and I purchased a 2013 Prime Time Tracer 3200BHT from Sunset RV in Fife. Our sales rep, Larry Ryan and his sales manager, Russ W. made us feel confident regarding our purchase because they provided us with written proof from their parent company, Sunset Chevrolet, that our truck (2008 GMC 1500 Sierra Crew Cab 4WD 5.3L V8 with a 6-inch lift), has a towing capacity of 9500 lbs. However, on May 8th, we had to re-sign a new contract because apparently, we originally signed a contract that had a different VIN#. We were promised by Mark Harris that he would call us within 24 hours to let us know if the financing went through and at what rate. On May 11th, I spoke with the owner of both Sunset RV & Sunset Chevrolet, Phil Mitchell, who reassuringly promised me that Mark would call me back at 8pm sharp. As promised, Mark called with the good news that our financing went through and at a great rate. Ecstatic, we made plans for the upcoming Memorial Day weekend with family, went shopping for necessities and became members with K/M Resorts. Our first PDI (pre-delivery inspection) was on May 14th where I provided a list of things needing replacing or repair. May 18th, we met Larry in Bonney Lake for our final PDI and were a bit miffed to notice that only a few things were taken care of from the PDI list. After the brake controller & equalizer bar were installed on our truck, we took delivery of our very first travel trailer and headed home to Port Orchard. During our trip home, we noticed the RPM's on the truck were consistently at 4000. Concerned, we contacted Haselwood GMC dealership (where we originally purchased our truck) to have our transmission looked at and, if necessary, serviced. When we told them the truck is towing a travel trailer that weighs 7400 lbs. they were stunned and informed us our truck's towing capacity is only 7500 lbs. They advised us that we should not only bring our truck in immediately but to not tow the trailer anywhere anymore. Luckily, we found a storage facility (Reliable Storage) available and open on a Saturday. Disappointed and angry, we parked our brand new travel trailer and made the necessary cancellations. May 20th, my husband contacted Sunset RV over the phone to ask them about the discrepancy they provided. After being rudely told not only by Larry and Russ but also by their general sales manager, Kevin McDaniel, "we have been in business for more than 90 years so you don't know what you are talking about" and "if you don't like how your truck handled towing then you should either buy a new truck or remove the lift", we felt it necessary to seek out legal advice. Before doing so, we discovered the discrepancy while viewing the 2008 Guide to Towing (via trailerlife.com). The information Sunset RV provided was for 2012. We showed this to Kevin in person and he was speechless but surprisingly cooperative. He apologized for the misunderstanding and offered to sell us a comparable 2008 truck "at cost" with the proper towing capacity. Since we loved the trailer we decided to extend our budget a little more. May 22nd, we were shown three trucks that were obviously listed above retail. Clearly, they had no intentions of selling us a truck "at cost". Exasperated, I contacted Phil Mitchell since he was so helpful in the past with holding his employees accountable. I was certain that under the circumstances, he would do whatever he could to not only save the sale of the trailer but also a potential sale of a truck. Instead, he said "at the end of day, I will be losing money". Slighted, I asked if he thought that was more important than losing a customer. Sadly, his response was "that is no way to do business". Before I hung up, I told him he was right, that is no way to do business. May 29th, we rescinded the contract with Sunset RV and were denied any compensation for any charges incurred by this mistake such as storage fees and return shipping costs for items bought for the trailer. Russ showed us the payout check and said it was sent overnight to Bank of America to immediately close out the loan because the loan will not report as paid until 30 days after the payout date. At that point, we could finance another trailer. The very next day, they came and picked up the trailer at Reliable Storage. It is currently being listed as NEW instead of used on their website. Today is June 21st and the loan is finally paid off and closed. Just want to give a big shout out to Chris West(my salesman) in FIfe and Mark (Mr Exotic car lover) in Fife (who keeps the salesmen in line and has the final say :), the financial gal who worked till 10pm to knock out our deal even after enduring a tooth/dental issue all day, Jeff up in the Buckley location who has endured my endless detail needs for over a month, Benny the service technician who gave us a 3 hour walk though just prior to picking up the RV and to the gals who also work the desks in the parts department. Thank you thank you thank you for all the hard work and follow through with each and every item from issues noticed during the test drive, to issues endured though our first road trip to Mount Saint Helens. We love the larger then life 36' Fleetwood triple slide out more then we could have imaged. We just can't help but sit in it and grin and think.... how cool is this.
